ADT is a place where few people state their real identity. I guess that's common for most internet forums, but most don't really want the world to know you're watching hardcore porn or that you might have some very specific fetishes. Or that you dabble in some experimental stuff that defies labels. Groups of people with the same interests and views also tend to reinforce each other. On ADT we take porn for granted as a part of our lives and we are happy to discuss movies, fantasies and thoughts about the industry, but only with each other.
So my question is: What if anything have you gained from discussing porn with people who are much less familiar with it than ADTers? Any actual valuable insights that you hadn't thought of? Or just the old prejudices and denouncements (some of which might be interesting)?

^ Most people outside of ADT simply don't know what I'm talking about, regardless of whether they condemn it. This is usually a stumbling block to any further discussion. Some professors have asked me questions that need to be considered, but honestly these questions have all been asked here at ADT too.

I have never been secretive about the fact that I view porn or that I jerk off to it. I just figure people already assume that a single, healthy male of my age would have some porn and would obviously masturbate to it.
I have had conversations about porn with people I worked with. Few of them seemed offended or anything. I don't think any of the conversations ever went far beyond an acknowledgment of viewing porn. It gets a little awkward if you get into too much detail with someone you're not intimate with.
It's not that I was ever that shy about it. Rather, I think some people would be very offended if I just started going into graphic detail.

I talk about ADT all the time with my friends, then have to explain and/or remind them that ADT is the "porn forum" online that i go to when they don't know what ADT is. Nobody has really given me flack for it.
Most of my friends are cool and I've always been known as the pornhound of our group. I brought "Buttman Goes To Budapest" to one of our parties one time and had it going in the living room the whole time. This was 2000ish, I think. My friends thought that Buttman was a crazy name and found that odder than me bringing a backpack full of porn to a party. I didn't care. That was before I drank anyways. Fast forward a few years and I'd be at a party at the same house walking around shitfaced hitting on chicks. Never worked and I didn't even bring porn then.

The only insightful thing about porn that anyone has ever really said to me *ever* was a friend of mine and I were discussing the idea of women in porn not being happy being porn stars and he said:
"Most people aren't happy with their jobs. Whether or not the waitress likes being a waitress is totally inconsequential to me so long as I believe she's a happy waitress and she brings me the food I order in the way I asked it to be prepared."

When it comes to porn i have a mix of friends who share the same passion as me,aside from talking girls and porn with them we all buy some porn dvd's each month then swap titles-thankfully we all have similar tastes so it keeps the porn viewing fresh.
I also have other friends who cannot believe the amount of time and money i spend on my "hobby" each to there own i guess but they do not give me grief for it and i do not try to tell them what to do with there money or life etc.
At work there are a few asshole types and at breaks they talk porn,at least they try to i must admit it's amusing to hear them and there "know all" comments,i would never get into a full blown discussion with those type of people no matter what your argument is you would never win.Instead i sit there quite content to listen and little do they know i am on ADT and sharing posts with the likes of Kelly Divine,Kristina Rose and Directors Jonni Darkko etc.

Well at work almost all the men and women know I attend this convention AND they always want to see the pics. Some know who the girls are, was a bit shocked that one of the girls at work who is 18 knew who Flower Tucci was.
They all know porn is very much mainstream and that it is no secret people watch. Even them.
They think it is pretty cool to meet the people in the industry and they find some dicussions I have about the industry to be interesting.
As most people I know say "Big deal, they are just acting out sex scenes."

Also what is funny is the women at work who ask me to get an autographed pic from certain girls. One of the girls at work loves Lex Steele and 2 years ago I seen him there and got him to sign an 8x10 for her.
