The directors that would be contacting them have probably already worked with them, and know how reliable/unreliable they actually are. Once you've been around for a few years, your agent isn't still making calls everyday talking about you to various companies. If you already have a group of directors that you know are willing to hire you sans agent because they've worked with you before, then it's a lot less of a risk. And you get to keep that 10% that the agent would have taken from you. Basically, if you already know that you're only going to do a few scenes a month with people you know and trust, you don't need an agent to help set that up. [Link] |
