Lately I've been getting into Euro stuff and I was shopping around for stuff by Legal Pink and I noticed that the Euro DVD covers are much better than the US DVD covers. For example the Euro covers have DP and penetration shots while the US gets VERY modest covers with no penetration.
Has anyone ever noticed this? Is Legal Pink the only company doing this or is there some US law that bans certain covers from displaying penetration, DAP, etc?
Take these 3 films by Legal Pink as an example:
Hey Gang Teach Me To Bang 3 (US cover)
the US gets a very modest cover

another weak cover

in this DVD cover the cover girl is so innocent

but in the Euro cover we see her having some fun

Hi,
I always noticed that US covers (not all of course) show almost no sex on the frontside of their covers. They are so "clean" you could display them in Kindergarden.
If you find a "euro" version of a movie i would suspect it´s not the original company distibuting the movie much more a licensed company choosing "their" own cover to have the best effect on the consumer

It's not US versus Euro. Some companies make soft and hard covers. Websites like ours choose to display only soft covers so we don't need to keep 2257 records and welcome the FBI into our homes and businesses. 2257 rules are specific to the US, however there are many website owners who are unclear about the law (or willing to take the risk) and show hardcore images without keeping records.
I wish every company made softcore covers. We would sell more of their movies if we could show the covers. I think you'd be surprised at how well nicely done softcore covers do at grabbing people's attention. Tease is an art.

Hi,
I forgot about that ... sorry.
I should have mentioned that i meant "euro" customers ... even though the usual us covers are soft "only" their teasefactor is really very high ... you are right about that

Some companies (US and European alike e.g. Anabolic, Digital Sin, Private, 21Sextury among others) even make a 2-sided cover insert, soft on one side, hard on the other, so a retailer can choose which to put out on the shelves or use on their web site.
As I think Cubesnake was meaning, sometimes a foreign distributor will originate their own artwork for the title, as often happens with European editions of US movies, and as it appears Metro have done in this case with Legal Pink.

I totally agree with Steph about softcore covers being great teasers. Hardcore penetration and/or cum shots on front covers come off as very tacky IMHO and I'm perfectly content with the way all the major US companies currently shoot their covers.

I'll second the thoughts of tease being an art and the extremely graphic covers being very tacky. I wish many retailers would offer the softcore covers as an option on their sites (as well as having the movie companies offering them) rather than always deferring to the hardcore covers. There's a lot of times when there's a good softcore cover available but the stores just won't use it and would rather blank out the 'offensive action' with something tacky like a huge star or big black dots.
For further fodder for the companies to think about with offering hardcore vs. softcore covers, check out the reviews on the home page. Covers get a lot of attention, and how many times a month do you see the 'Most Popular Review' cover on the home page blanked out due to it not being able to be shown?

Sorry, i'm stupid, but this is a serious question. If hilary wins why exactly would this be bad for porn?

Soft covers are good from the retail standpoint as well. They can be put in window displays.
