Hi guys, I wrote an article today and used this site an one of my examples, based on this topic and the comments from both the producers and the fans and critics.
So I'm going to do a follow up of my own article tomorrow, and go deeper with this packaging "misfire" thing.
Personally, I'm a big supporter of this guy Michael, who I still enjoy calling him "Looch", but that's another matter.
But the bottom line with me and all the people who take the time to write and express their thoughts is: While I "donate" my columns to the AVNInsider.com, I'm fairly well paid to write for yes portal. You folks write your thoughts because you're compelled to. And what's been written from compassion by so many contributors over the years is something very profound.
And sense I get to pick my topics, and then run 'em by the boss, we make some quick decisions and than I'm off and running with whatever it is we're looking at. I'm not yet sure what it will be ss I write this now, but I hope you enjoy it tomorrow when it goes up.

I don't think fans are too demanding, we just like things to be as good as possible. That said, I'm not bothered about 5.1 audio on porn but how about anamorphic 16:9 as standard? Also, just like regular movies, many of the extras aren't worth watching. Bonus scenes from other big titles and trailers are by far the best things. Forget the virtual rooms and stick to easy to navigate, well-designed menus.
ABSOLUTELY NOT. As with any industry, the customer is the driving force. Any businessman, regardless of industry should never make the customer feel like he is asking for too much. If you can't deliver, that's one thing, but the customer should never feel like he/she is asking for too much.
Fuck no, Porn fans aren't to demanding, you work hard for your money and you deserve to get the best from the Porn Companies, to buy a Dvd is pretty expensive, you shouldn't buy inferior product, the companies that make inferior product, don't deserve to get your money, and as far as you mike Stefanio, I Love You man.
Yep, we have and rightly so. In the same way we've forgotten PCs without hard drives and command line interfaces. Plus, there's usually a big difference in price between tape and DVD.
What do people think about the idea of 16:9 'superbit' discs with no extras but the highest possible picture and sound quality?

I don't like 16:9 for porn at all. Framing and shot composition of sex scenes really demand the old classical frame dimensions.

On another note, a lot of responses here are focused on getting more. I don't care for more. I want better.

Don't you know yet? I have a personal Quote Master, who is collecting all my "quotables". Bob is the man to speak to about this. I am wondering myself what he is able to come up with.

This porn fan, for one, ain't too demanding. My demands are few: good lighting, camerawork, and editing, attractive performers, and some semblance of enjoyment on their part (rarely can "hotness" make up for that Eurogirl look of absolute boredom with what's going on).
Everything (anything) else is gravy. I know that's asking a lot, just those five things, but I know it's possible, because I've seen it done.
We all have bad days; hell, mine hasn't been all that great you know. I don't fault Micheal "Looch" one frik-frakkin' little bit. I certainly appreciate his passion to produce a high quality product.
It may be silly, but here's an idea: maybe all those 'extras' that reduce the bit-rate could be bundled into a separate (and inexpensive) extra disc that could be purchased separately. The "Plus Pack" or "Companion Disk" or something far more cleverly named that's half the price of the main feature. Add in some outtakes, the soundtrack (on second thought, no), whatever. Just a thought.
I think the majority of us would be satisfied with the things I mentioned at the onset, though. I'm just glad the people making porn have finally caught up to capturing the acts and scenarios I used to whack off thinking about when I was a kid!
Rock on, Kings and Queens of DVD Decadence. Yeah, and screw VHS. A DVD player is $50, gimme a fuckin' break.
