If screenplays are not used than how is the story/premise conveyed to the actors? Is there a major difference between how features are shot versus gonzo? [Link]

Essentially, I want to know if porn directors make things up as they go along or do they write out the entire movie beforehand --like a screenplay? How does an idea become a porn movie? For vignettes (which are shorts with a little story behind them, but nothing that can't be made up on the spot), it's usually the director actually directing. More or less. In gonzo, there is no story, it's just a girl there getting paid to get fucked. No set up, no nothing. Sometimes there is an introduction to who the girl is, but very minimal. So yeah, there are screenplays in features. But not really ones that actually describe the sex acts at all, just the dialog. [Link]

Click to expand I don't think Skeeter movies have much of a plot. Yes, there are differences. Features require a lot of time spent on dialog. Often the dialog portions take as long or longer than the sex. -- Snowman [Link]
