Voyeur, Diabolic, Red Light, Black Ice and Mercenary are dead. New sensation and 3rd Degree seem to still be releasing new content and I have no idea about Extreme Comixxx

It really is amazing to see such a decline in the porn industry in terms of the prominent companies over the last ten years. I was a huge fan of Mercenary Pictures, and now it is pretty much folded. I hope things will pick up in the industry.

What ever happen to the Hangover parody that 3rd Degree or Zero Tolerance made. I hear rumors that Zero Tolerance no longer shoot porn parody because I haven't seen any new ones from them?

I believe these are all compilation videos. I checked a couple of distributors and I haven't seen an actual new title since October 2011 and that was probably some leased European content anyway.

The decline isn't 10 years old. It's not even 5 years old. It started about 3 years ago and accelerated in the last 2. Pirating was a big part of it and economy was the last nail in the coffin of many studios.

Surely pirating has been around more than 3 years.
Or is it just more bandwidth available now ?
Or is it that people are sick of buying Asian Movies that have Latinas in them.
And sick of buying Latina movies that have Asians in them.
And sick of just about every gb movie ending with the girl on her knees and the guy jerking off onto her face or mouth.

Well an year has passed and so far here is what companies are still shooting and those who are dead.
Vouyer Media, nothing new but still shooting but not lot.
Diabolic, Dead
Black Ice, they had some new movies last year but they stop. they still have comp but I guess they are dead.
3rd Degree, lack of new movies but lot of comp which nobody does buy old scenes
Red Light District, Dead
Mercenary Pictures, Dead but Lexington Steele for what I hear is rumored that he is Evil Angel new director
Extreme Comixxx, Are they still shooitng?
New Senations, they are still shooting new stuff
We are seeing the decline in the porn industry, most girls are shooting because they are doing escort and stuff. Also with the new condom law in LA it will much ever harder to shoot with condom scene but lot of porn buyers don't want to watched condom porn.

^Diabolic isn't dead, they seem to release 1-2 new flicks monthly.
3rdDegree releases 2-3 new flicks monthly, I wouldn't personally call that a lack of new movies.

Black Ice is only releasing compilations now so they are essentially dead.
They are actually owned by a bigger porn company whose name I cannot remember?
Mercenary Pictures is essentially dead. From what I read Lex Steele owed a law firm $80,000 from lawsuits he hired them for like the one he settled with Vanessa Blue. I don't know if that was related to the demise of Mercenary. Lex has gone back to performing for other companies and most recently has been directing/performing for Evil Angel.
Too bad. There were two of the best black/IR adult movie companies.

You mean Zero Tolerance who both own 3rd Degree. One of the director who worked for Zero Tolerance why don't you ask him what happen to Black Ice. We know Red Light and Mercenary Pictures is now dead for sure.

Go figure. Investing your money in making porn these days is risky to begin with. On top of that, they're expected to try to sell enough censored sex to porn customers to turn a reasonable profit. I wonder why things have slowed down?

Think it have to do with the free porn, nobody doesn't want to started an company because of the tube sties which is hurting the industry. Also with the condom law it will be ever harder to started an porn company.

Red Light , Diabolic/Anabolic and Platinum X all went in major troubles way before the decline of porn for completely different reasons than piracy or the financial crisis.
Also it is true that piracy exists way longer than just three years but in those three years you saw a complete breakdown of porn stores, broadband diffusion growing up impressively and gaining speed.
All this had consequences there's people who cannot buy or rent a movie even when they want to either there's no store surviving or it has not what he wants , many stores aren't even buying that much anymore , there's no purpose , sometimes a movie not only cannot be sold but also get no rentals.
My store only orders what will sell for sure , no risks anymore they are not worthy.
He now considers a topseller a movie with 10 rentals in three months
three years ago he was selling all movies with less than twenty rentals in a month because he needed room for new stuff with more sales
he still resists but I wonder how long?

I haven't seen much in the way of new DVD porn for a while but as I recall, New Sensations makes pretty good stuff.

^ New Sensations owns Digital Sin. Not to be confused with Digital Playground which was acquired by Manwin (aka Brazzers).
