Looking for some advice.
I've had a crush on my flatmate's bestfriend for a few years now but never felt able to do anything about it. I've been living with this chick for over a year now and I'm sick of supressing my feelings for her friend because lately I've been noticing her checking me out, a lot. The reason I've never done anything is about it is politics, these to chicks squabble and argue all the time but they're best friends and always get over it.
Pretty much what I want to know is, is there any way I can do this without pissing of my flatmate who I'm really close to and then becoming the fuel for their next fire. I just don't want to complicate things but this girl is really really hot - Think Velicity Von body & looks
Cheers

Be honest and direct. Say how you feel and ask for what you want. That's my best advice.

Thanks, that's sort what I thought I might do - Something else I was wondering is could I take her email address from one of those group emails and try it from that angle? (I'd rather go face to face)
Lastly would it be a good idea to tell my flatmate of my intentions?

I'd say:
Face to face.
Tell your flatmate.

I'm not suggesting you should "proclaim your feelings" -- just that you shouldn't tip-toe around.
Ask her out for a beer or dinner or something. If she's interested, she'll say yes.

Hey, thanks for your help. I was kinda 50/50 with telling my flatmate, but when you think about it it's probably a good idea to give her a heads up.
Yep face to face was where I was leaning.

You can be up-front and out in the open about things, and still be tactful. Some people think being up front means being brusque or harsh.
I've had far better experiences simply airing things out and being open and honest, than I have trying to be sneaky. Plus, being sneaky makes you look like a sneak, which doesn't exactly build respect.
Also, start working on another place to live, because you will end up the in middle of the next problem they have. Or if one gets mad at you, the other will take her side. (Been there, done it, bought the t-shirt.)

Yeah definately look for somewhere else - I sor of already am - this would be a reason to speed up the process - So you reckon tell my flatmate?
I've spoken to a few people today about it and some have said avoid the situation all together and others have said go for it.
Damn the conflicting opinions!
Jayo - did your's end messily?

It doesn't matter if it ends in a mess. You'll only regret it if you don't. You want to feel alive, yes? Life can be a mess. Do you want to wonder twenty years from now if you missed out?
Tell your flatmate that you've been conflicted about this, and stayed away from this out of respect for her, but that it's an opportunity that you can't pass up. Then ask the girl out for coffee or something fairly casual.

Grow some balls and ask her out. If you says no then who cares at least you have piece of mind.

Haha she's seeing someone.
Oh well got that outta my system. My flatmate told me a story about her the other day...
When she 1st met her current squeeze they were fooling around and she slammed the breaks on. He then asked her if she could finish him off and she said No. He then asked if he could finish himself on her. And the response was Ewwwww NO!!!
Decision my flatmate is a prude so is her friend...
Onwards and upwards!!
