This dvd features some of the best performers in porn - Rita Faltoyano, Steve Holmes, Sandra (Anais), Jean-Yves Le Castel to name a few, so why would any product featuring such talent be total shite ?
I'll tell you why........poor lighting...&..crap editing !
Here's an example of how a potentially amazing scene is reduced to road kill -
.....we see Sandra with a cock in her ass.....fade out/fade in .....now she has two cocks in her ass at the same time, in reverse cowgirl (this lasts a very short amount of time)...fade out/fade in .....now she has two cocks in her ass at the same time, in cowgirl .....(this again lasts a very short time)...fade out/fade in ......what the fuck? it's cum shot time!!!!!!
Have these editors ever heard of Continuity ?
Now lets look at the box cover.....the back features bright, colorful, vibrant pictures, so a potential buyer thinks that the feature is the same quality, right ?
Wrong .
Nearly every scene is so poorly lit that the image is totally dull and lifeless.
Instead of letting go of talent, like Mike John and Lex Steele, Anabolic should have dumped the talent less hacks working to ruin their product.
If you guys want to see how anal porn should be filmed, get a copy of the excellent WEAPONS OF ASS DESTRUCTION 2.
Maybe Anabolic should have given him a bigger budget to work with because he was the best director they had. It was obvious he had a big budget when he worked for Private and the high quality of all the Matador movies is proof of that.
I always felt Jean Yves was very underappreciated at Anabolic especially compared to Lex Steele and Erik Everhard which is of course very unfair because there's no better performer in the industry than Jean Yves Lecastel.
Oops, looks liked that was one of mine sorry. With Jean Yves stuff you make due with what you're supplied Continuity? Nice if you have footage that allows it, Trust me, I did the best I could with what I had in the can. I may desirve the hammer on that one but I was far from alone. If you want to kill me though it's O.K. I've got the shoulders of Atlas.
I've always thought that the Jean Yves Le Castel Anabolic/Diabolic titles were among the worst that company put out on a consistent basis. On the other hand, although not a fan of Private, I had to check out Eighteen Birthday Presents because it had Patricia Diamond in it and was pleasantly surprised because his style there was so much more effective (to me anyway) than with Assman and Debauchery. The thing I always hated most about Assman was the incessant zooming in on the girl's gaping asshole, like I don't know what a gaping asshole looks like already?? Also, I've always thought the lighting, sound, color, and background imagery were mostly subpar to crappy in both of those series. Anyway, I'm glad he isn't with Anabolic/Diabolic anymore. He obviously has talent, but in my opinion wasn't showing it for for them.
The Jean Yves Lecastel movies from Anabolic were the only movies I bought from Anabolic because he was the only director at Anabolic who shot hot sex IMO. I never liked movies from Mike John, Erik Erikhard, Jon Dough, Lex Steele and Christopher Alexander.
Assman 21 was edited by Mike Lynn @ Venice Editing and Duplicating Inc.
I love the Assman and Debauchery series and have every dvd released so far and that's why I get extra pissed when potentially excellent scenes get trashed.
Jean-Yves Le Castel is one of the best directors out there and with the right technical team, he produces the best porn.
The Matador series (and the German 'World Class Ass series) are an excellent example of how vibrant and colorful this type of anal porn can look.
I'm looking forward to Debauchery 15, so lets get it released on dvd soon guys!
The only reason I bought Assman 21 and one other volume is for Miss Rita otherwise I never really cared for Jean Yves Lecastel behind the camera or John Dough or Lex Steele for that matter. Have not seen enough of Alexander's stuff one way or the other to judge but do generally like Mike John & Eric Everhard. And yeah, the editing for Assman 21 was clunky to say the least.

Sorry, those Euro titles from Anabolic/Diabolic never did it for me. Too cold or remote or choppy ... I don't know, man. Give me Mike John any day of the week. I agree about Lex, I don't find him interesting as a director. But Erik has real promise. Jon Dough was terrible. Can't wait to see how the Former Wanker turns out behind the camera.
Jean Yves is perfectly capable of fucking up good footage as he proved with "Harder Faster". That one is edited like an episode of MTV Cribs. All the earlier Assman/Debauchery stuff was much better. I wish directors would just let the camera roll and suppress the need to get "artistic". I want artistic I'll go to a fucking museum.
Also, who the hell watches Assman/Debauchery and then bitches about the gapes? That's like a vegetarian buying a hamburger and bitching that it has meat. These are gape videos with huge gaping assholes dominating the covers.
This doesn't sound something Jean Yves would do so I'm gonna assume the company wanted to make a movie like this and did the editing themselve. It's obvious most companies dictate their directors what kind of movies they should make and this is not a good thing.
I never liked the idea of Jean Yves directing for New Sensation because they were more a couples-appeal company. Jean Yves belongs at a company like Evil Angel, Platinum X or Red Light District.

Harder Faster could have been greeeeaaaaaaaaattttttttttttt, but ...
... JYLC's style of directing has little sense of what viewers want.
The rapid and incoherent chops between scenes is a sore disappointment. Imagine the gorgeous Julie Silver getting dpped and daped vigorously by 2 huge, massive monster dicks and the potential is boundless, but
the viewer sees a quick dap of Julie and suddenly the scene gets cut to something meaningless. The chops are reminisce of A/D Assman chops but considerably worse. Nevertheless, the video is recommended because of the gorgeous Julie Silver.
Oh the ignominy of potential greatness comeing crashing down into meaningless mediocrity.
I wonder if Jean Yves actually sat down and watched the final product?
I can only wonder about the amazing footage that was shot but will never be seen by us fans.

It's not the gapes I object to, after all anal is probably my main thing, it's the incessant zooming in and out in and out in and out - it's just distracting and not at all a turn on. In my opinion, it lacks creativity.
Sorry if I misread your post Porn Scout, and took you for a gape basher. Coming from the RAME board where everyone instantly tries to psychoanalyze a gape fan I've become somewhat defensive. Actually I totally agree, the quick zooms suck--whether their on gapes or anything else. I shouldn't have to take dramamine before jerking off!
It blows my mind how porn directors just don't seem to realize that people will be trying to masturbate to their product. THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR. Do any really grasp this concept and shoot accordingly? When they're throwing the camera around and chopping video into 10 second chunks do they have this in mind?
And my favorite question for all porn directors: Would an unrestricted porn viewer on the set of a shoot move his POV anything like how they're moving the camera?
I don't know if it's the directors or the editors chopping up these movies, but my take is that a director should control his product because it's his reputation on the line.
Gapes rule indeed! Especially when their pinkincide;)
I misread the title of this topic as "Assman 21- ruined by sh*t ENDING" and thought "hmmmm..isn't the talent supposed to clean out pretty deeply before shooting an anal scene?" c?
Re: the actual topic's subject matter, the only thing that comes close to the frustration caused when directors/editors cutting away far too soon from a good scene/position is when the director forgets about showing the girl's face for most of the sex -- at least for me, half the thrill is the look on the talent's face during the scene -- not to mention when the same faceless girl scene cuts way too often to loving close-up shots of the male performer's face.
