I use IrfanView to crop, size and get my avatars inside the 5kb limit. IrfanView is free, though he does ask that you make a donation, which, given how useful I've found it to be, I was happy to do.

I have some images that are just a bit bigger in dimensions and size. Dimensions are easy enough to take care of - just use MS Paint to make it smaller. But what about memory space? Or does ADT reduce it for you? That is how I read the warning at the beginning of file attachment for avatars. [Link] |
