No I'm not thinking of starting my own porn company, just curious. Being a young guy, I know all these older guys fucking young girls is very unrealistic, unless the guys are rich. I'm thinking the average is late 30's or early 40's. Anyone know why guys start so late?

There was a time a few years ago when Mike Horner and Hershel Savage seemed to be in every bloody film I bought - I did some serious fast-forwarding over a lot of scenes!
It reminds me of Nick Nolte getting a scrotum tuck a few years back because as he got older he kept sitting on his balls - methinks there are a few long-in-the-tooth porn studs out there that need a scrotum tuck or two.
Yeah, most of us can identify porn males by their cocks. something about that is just wrong. I don't really care about the guys, but the newer or less used ones seem to quieter during the scenes. Maybe it's because they are less comfortable in front of the camera. Whatever the reason, it's great when you can hear the girls without guys drowning them out. Oh well, I'm still interested in the average age...
I don't know Peter North's actual age. However, I suspect that he's very close to my age; he can't be much younger. And I'm pushing the big five zero mighty hard (I'll be 49 in 2 months).
I figure this is as good as any place to stop lurking, and actually post. My "hunt & peck" typing skills are laughable. Peter is in his early 50's. He didnt tell me his exact age, but he did tell me he was over th 5-0 mark. He still looks great, and can still fuck circles around newb kids 1/2 his age! More power to him. I'm 33, and I got in the business at 30. I waited for no other reason than I wanted to live life a bit, and be 100% sure that this was the path I wanted to take. I had other options I was persuing that porn would surely be a kiss of death to. If your question about median age is limited to male performers who work regularly enough to make a living at this, and not hangers on , then I'd say from my experience, I'm slightly on the old side. My educated guess would put the median age at around 28 +/-. I plan on cashing in my chips long before my scrotum starts to sag, if only for vanity reasons. (Happy 65 Col. Dave!)
But there is a double standard in porn, the men, as they age and look a mess, are still able to perform. I was horrified when looking at a movie that featured Tyce Boon, no offense but he should not be in front of the camera. Why is he able to do films? he's not attractive, he's aging, he's got a beer belly and a jelly wobbling flat but, and he's not packing? But a woman would never be allowed to let her self go and/or age and still be allowed to work. I think they need to realize women and some bi-men like to look at sexy men and they should ensure that the men look just as good as the women and not allow "veterans" that don't look like Peter North peform unless they are behind the scenes directing. That ticks me off!

I acknowledge that many of these old guys are legends and deserve to be able to have sex with lots of 18 year old newbies (hell, it should even be part of their old age social security benefits!), but the industry is no longer limited to the ten odd guys in the world that could maintain an erection under the hot lights. The little blue pill means that any buffed-up pretty boy can now become a super stud!
Film-makers should set aside a half hour or so at the end of every day of shooting for the old vets to come on in and fuck an 18 year old newbie. They can then send most of the cast and crew home and leave the lens cap on the camera so the home viewers don't have to be inflicted with this sight. The old guys can then continue to feel part of the industry and the standard of films will increase as a result.
Welcome to the board Tyler. I didn't realize the average age was that low. I figured much higher. I guess it's probably just the movies I watch. It seems like younger guys are shooting alot for websites. It's probably much easier to get your foot in the door with that approach, rather than taking on the porn establish in porn valley.
Thanks for the welcome Pornopunk. Seems that most of the guys on the feature side of the biz are older than me (Randy Spears, Evan Stone). Typicly, I'm the youngest male talent on the set. Most of the guys doing primarily gonzo tend to be younger than me I've noticed (Brian Pumper). I crank out far more gonzo scenes than features. Thats just a generalization. Keep in mind, I tend to work for the same companies over, and over, so the microcosm of porn that I travel in may not be representative of the business as a whole. I've yet to watch an internet scene, so I can't give you an intelligent opinion on that part of the biz, although the few that I've done, Im definately the youngest by far. It probably is easier to break the inertia in internet porn. Tha financial stakes are lower than say a 100,000$ feature. From my experience, I got hung up on 25,000 times when I called pretty much everyone in Chatsworth to get my first scene. Then I said "Fuck it.", and just walked into VCA, and Videoteams offices one day. My first scene for VCA, I eneded up proving conventional wisdom of never hiring a new guy right. I bombed terribly. So bad, that I changed my stage name ! My first outing with Videoteam went a lot better. After that, I got hung up on another 25,000 times for good measure. :-) Thank god I don't have to go through that again. What DVD's do you watch by the way?

I had a similar experience in porn. About 7 years ago while I was still in college, myself and several friends were interested in making porn. I never wanted to perform, but I was interested in directing. Anyway to make a long story short, we also got hung up on alot of times and Rodney Moore was the only person willing to lend his time and answer some questions that were actually helpful about the business. The legal issues that came with shooting porn in Florida changed my mind about breaking into the biz. I love the east coast and I didn't want to move.
I watch alot of anal & teen themed movies. It depends on the girls in the movie. I'm really not loyal to any one comapany over another.

actually the average age of male talent is getting younger.....scott nails is 22 and he works probably as much or more than anyone.....tommy gunn is mid thirties as is lee stone and kurt lockwood i believe.....i am 30.....i think that it is a wide open range.....from 50 something to early 20s......kris slater is like 25, trent salieri is 20....it is totally random....
by the way seeing guys like herschel savage, peter north, tt boy, steven st croix, and mark davis still around and at the top of their game is fucking cool.....
