Over the last year it seems that girls that stay in the business only stay for a few months. There aren't many new girls that have stayed for a year or more. I'm surprised some of the older performers are still in the business (ie. Nikki Benz, Lisa Ann, Shyla Stylez). What's the deal? In the early 90's girls were sticking around for at least 4-5 years. I know that hardly any movies are being made nowadays which is ashame.
Agreed! Pornstars of today seem to use the biz for? I do not even know what anymore? 15 minutes of fame? Some quick cash? Ladies of my favorite period seemed to be in everything and were around a long time? To me it could be two things. One.) The people producing it do not want to repeat things from the past and always keep fresh faces. I think they are going more for the viewer who watches every once and a while opposed to the fan who loves this biz and can't get enough of a good starlet! Two.) Most gals get into it to start a base for stripping and us it to get a little more money on the road more than in the past. I could be wrong on both points, but that is my opinion!
I don't know, I think things go both ways. Some stay in porn for a short time and then just leave or go over to stripping/feature dancing. Others stay in porn for a long, long time, building a fan base and a reputation and saves up a good amount of money. I hope my favorites stay in the biz for as long as possible.
Yes lack of work is a big reason for leaving. But it's always been like that. This industry is littered with one or two hit wonders. If I can get 3-5 scenes I like with a new girl I'm really into, that's great. Everything else is just a bonus.
Yeah. I have a feeling people who think there are many more short-timers now have simply forgotten the one-hit wonders from years past or, more likely, never noticed them in the first place. Regularly reading ADT (or also places like Freeones) really tends to amplify the impression that short-time porn starlets make, what with girls getting dedicated threads around here just based on modeling profiles and before they've even had a scene released...

^ Classic! Yeah, a lot of times I'm bummed when some of faves retire after only a few years. But this way they will forever be remembered as young, w/ beautiful smooth, silky skin, gorgeous features & tight little bods. I don't wanna really name names, but some girls that I really liked/fancied that have stayed around for quite a while have had 1 too many cosmetic procedures that not only do I not find attractive (in most cases), I find it downright creepy sometimes. But yeah, some performers, e.g. Lisa Ann, Raylene, Kianna Dior, Shyla Stylez, Vicky Vette, Briana Banks, etc. (to name just a few) that have been around for like a decade or so, look fan-fucking-tastic to this day!
