Hey Den,
I know I'm not who you directed this toward, but I think the idea of the award is who's name/face have you seen out there the most in mainstream stuff. A bunch of the females on this list I'm assuming are on there for their appearances on HBO's Pornotopia(Briana Banks, Stormy Daniels, Katie Morgan, Tera Patrick, & Nautica Thorn), but Katie Morgan also had her own HBO Portrait of a pornstar or whatever done. I think that means you can put her ahead of the other 4. Jesse Jane had relations with rockstars and had a brief cameo on Entourage, but was that enough to warrant an award?(hmmmm?) Ron Jeremy was on a WB/VH1 reality TV show. Seymore Butts has the Family Business show. I really can't really think of much that Mary Carey has done since 2003/2004. Then there is Jenna Jameson. Jenna is Jenna. She had her book media blitz, but not much else.
I would say it comes down to Katie Morgan's Multiple HBO appearances Vs. Jenna and her book.
I hope I was of some help Den,
AC Cream

Without a doubt, the winner in Jenna. None of the others had a New York Times best seller. She is the face of porn in the mainstream world and no one else really comes close to that.
Well if you want to say who's most well known then yeah it's Jenna followed by Ron I think. But as for "crossing" over from porn to mainstream then perhaps I'd go with Katie Morgan who did more crossing over than I think Jenna did who was already on the other side, lol. Now did this HBO thing fully bring Katie over, probably not but she at least had more exposure. Jenna was already well known before her book came out and she already had a special done about her which I found very interesting to watch. A good discussion though!

What's the deal with Brianna Banks? It seems like she doesn't make any public appearances outside of AEE. She is the most elusive of porn stars. I've never had the opportunity to photograph her.

When she was on this HBO photograph show or Pornotopia(not sure which) she talked about taking care of her 3 younger siblings. Maybe they keep her from frequenting Porn parties and smaller events. Maybe that and also she's a Vivid girl. I take my hat off to anybody that can stand in those feature lines. An hour or 2 to say a 1 second hi and bye to a girl or fight with a bunch of photogs who are camped out cause Jenna or Tera might make an appearance any second. Wow!

Well for me my first line to go to is Jenna Jameson. Regardless I am there for two hours, she is my favourite, let's hear the bashing now, and for me is well worth the wait to say hi, get her autograph and maybe snap a pic with her or of her. After that I will check out others, as Jenna is my number one reason to attend and then to meet and greet some new girls like the ones who will be at the Doghouse Digital booth.

Sorry I missed you on the AVN list of voters. I was not asking who anybody was voting for. AVN sends out boxes of DVDs and info to the voters and I just wanted to know what info they sent in regards to this new category. With this being a brand new award, what information has been provided for you to determine your vote? Thanks and I am sorry for missing you on the list. Den Edited by - Steph on 3/1/2008 2:20:27 PM
I saw her in August when she feature danced in Kansas City. She had been scheduled for several months earlier, but she gave them a rain check at the last moment. But she did come in August, and she looked good. I didn't meet her and get her autograph or anything, unfortunately, but I saw her show, and she was very athletic, up and down the poles and hanging by her legs for three songs. She looked thin, but healthy track athlete thin instead of drugs thin. I don't follow her that closely, but I know that she looked kind of lousy in some of the Vivid vids that I happened to rent 2 or 3 years ago, although lighting and makeup could have played a part in that. The only thing about her show that I thought was questionable was that her last song was Nirvana's Rape Me. I'm not sure if a strip club is ever the right context for that song, as great as it may be otherwise.

What's fucked up is that my AVN pen name isn't on that list anyway. But I VOTED (yes, I received screeners and voted via their secure voting website) so I hope they don't forget to include [ invalid url ] on the programs this year. I don't think that people are giving Ron Jeremy enough credit. Besides doing mainstream movies in the past(he had a decent sized role in Boondock Saints) and aside from being on The Surreal Life (when it was on network TV--prior to being a VH1 show)--he made an appearance on Las Vegas this year, and the main thing was a sort of indie flick called Being Ron Jeremy. So I think he deserves a lot of credit as being a cross-over star. Go Ron!
Jenna had a monster 2004 Crossover season with her book on Best Seller lists, etc. She had a quiet 2005 Crossover season.
I feel it was AVN's way of making up to Jenna for the snub of forgetting to put her in AVN Hall of Fame.
Sure hope Stormy Daniels gets some consideration for next year's Crossover award for The 40-Year-Old Virgin. I still can't believe that you can buy this at big name outlet stores with the back cover saying, 'My Dinner with Stormy' and saying, '...has dinner with adult-film-star Stormy Daniels'. To me a major crossover accomplishment!
And, the clip was funny and hot!
