I haven't been anywhere west of the Mississippi river, and I'm still unsure of how it all works, but I'm sure I'll soon find out. From there check out "Adult Expo 2002" "Adult Entertainment Expo 2001" and "CES 1999" (it used to be called CES.) Because CES (Consumer Electronics Show) happens at the same time hotel rooms are expensive. I am currently looking into getting a block of rooms for adt folks. The cheapest I've seen so far for rooms close to the show in an average no frills hotel is $75/night. Staying a cab ride away from the show can save you $20/night, or can land you in a nicer hotel. I don't know the cost to get in this year - the website is not updated yet. HomeEntertainmentEvents.com There is also the AVN Awards Show that happens one night. Details on that here. It's not worth the $200 per ticket. We will be having a small adt party one night. I'll keep everyone posted on that. [Link]

Michael Saint Photographer Alexis Texas is always lovely 1062 Posts 2/01	Posted - Aug 22 2002 : 9:17PM Well Big Mike I used to fly out from Virginia every year to do the show and I usually looked at somewhere in the neighborhood of $500-800 by the time I added airfare,hotel and rental car. The price difference was usually due to the hotel I stayed at. As far as hotels go the days just before or after the show are fairly cheap (40-90) a night during the show you can assume those prices will double usually. Though staying downtown vice on the strip can save you a lot (though if you go that route you will DEFINATELY need a rental car). Taxis aren't cheap and by the time you pay for all the rides you exceed the cost of the rental (I tried it one year). As far as the awards go if it is your one hurray of the year you may want to go but at $225 a ticket I would think long and hard about it. BIGmike I would definately go the travel agent route from out there. When I lived in VA my travel agent was always able to get me better deals then even what I could find on line. For the show itself you probably won't spend much though I haven't seen the price list yet. Last time I went it was something like $15 dollars a day for non-industry personnel. [Link]

If you're planning on attending the show keep in mind that they don't open the doors to the general public until 1:00 pm. (At least that's what they did last year.) The line to get in starts building up around 11:30 am - noon. There are usually at least 500 people in line by the time they open the doors. It's a major drag to have to wait in that line unless you are the type of person that can appreciate the circus freak ambiance of the crowd. They close the show anywhere from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Here's last year's schedule: Wednesday, January 9, 1:00pm - 6:00pm Thursday, January 10, 1:00pm - 6:00pm Friday, January 11, 1:00pm - 5:00pm Saturday, January 12, 1:00pm - 4:00pm It's generally best to be there the first day or two if you plan on getting autographs and getting pictures with the stars. They tend to get burned out after a couple of days and many of them go home after the awards show, not returning to the trade show. Edited by - Drew Black on Aug 22 2002 [Link]

We got a room there for 60.00 per noght, 4 nights cost use 240 total. As for the show itself, I didn't spend much money there, only on drinks and stuff. Thanks to the kind folks at Elegant Angel I didn't have to wait in that crazy line to get in, they got me and my friend passes so we were able to get in early. By the time the show rolls around, I should, emphasis on should, have more than enough money to make the trip. Though I don't know what means of transportation I will be taking, whether it's plane or train. Either way, that will cost some cash, and I don't know if I'll be going with anyone, or if I'm going solo, lol. We are going to stay within walking distance to the show - I just find it easier (I get tired and cranky easily :) Not sure which hotel yet. The party will be a cab ride away so we can get a nice suite at a decent price. For people flying - southwest is an extremely cheap way to get there - much cheaper than a train. [Link]

The award show is Saturday, Jan 11 in 2003, so Sunday, the different companies are kind of focused on the awards they won, and a lot of them start closing down a little early. Anyway, if you don't care about staying in a casino-hotel atmostphere, the non-casino hotels on or near the Las Vegas Strip are usually quite a bit cheaper. [Link]

I would say it is at least twice as long if not longer then normal. So a five "block" walk on the strip can be quite a haul. [Link]

This year it will be held October 8-10 in Atlantic City. The ECVS is not as big as CES, but it is not nearly as crowded either. I haven't been there in a few years, but I had a good time the three times that I went. If money is an issue, you can easily make a day trip out of it (as I did the last time that I went). You won't miss anything at the show, because each day is pretty much the same and you can easily cover the entire show in a day. However, by doing a day trip you can miss some fun at night. However, that can be hit or miss. One year I had a great time hanging out with Seymore Butts, Taylor Hayes and Tom Byron. The next year, I didn't really hang out with anyone. [Link]

The girls will pose with you, or you can just take pictures of them smiling away at your camera. A lot of the girls are even friendlier than you might imagine. (Not true for all girls, though.) There's no toplessness or nudity at this event, though. A few girls have been known to flash, but run the risk of security kicking them out of the show. [Link]

I may go to that show. The thing is as soon as I'm done with school, I am leaving to visit my brother in Georgia, driving down with my father, but that's not a set date. So if all falls into place I will try to make it to Atlantic City. The thing about A.C. is it's smaller, so I've been told, and not as involved as Vegas. But nothing will keep me from Vegas, it's set in my mind. I've been told that once I get the end result in vision, nothing will keep me from it. ---BIGmike, over & out!--- [Link]

I think it's good that they not only let you take a camera in with you, but the girls allow you to take photo's of them (though I must admit that I would feel strange at first going up to someone I didn't know and ask them for a photo). I agree a camera is a must at the convention, I took like 6 rolls of pictures this apst year. Also don't be nervous or anything to ask to have your picture taken with the girls, or to ask for a picture. Everyone i met was more then willing to pose for pictures with me, and all the girls were really very nice. I even was able to get a picture with Randy West, and Peter North. Actually it was funny, the line for to meet Peter north was one of the longest lines i waited on, I think only the line to meet Jenna Jameson was longer. I also saw people with camcorders filming the girls waving or saying hi. Just so you know, last time fan tickets were 25.00 per day and it opened to fans at 1 pm. I have cut back in my old age but an average day for me at the show is 6 rolls. I usually average about 18-20 rolls for the convention provided I don't go to anything else. There's a stipulation on the back side of your ticket that states any video captured during the show is copyright AVN and must include the words 'Adult Video Expo' or something like that. [Link]
