I have to agree that 2007 has been rather a quiet year for Sandra Romain.Her best Year was 2006 but she was pipped by Hilarry Scott. So this Gives some Indication as to how they usually(?) pick A local Girl over European Contenders. If that's the Formular then Its safe to say Brianna Love may edge out her peers on that one.
To say that Hillary Scott only won Female Performer of the Year last year because she is a "homegrown" talent really belittles her accomplishment. That woman literally worked her ass off that year. No question that Sandra Romain is one of the best to ever do it but had *I* voted for Female Performer of the Year at the AVN Awards last year (oh wait -- that's right. I DID.), I'd have still went with Hillary Scott. She simply could not be denied. I'd waste everyone's time and run down how she trumped Romain last year in several ways but most of all in the amount of high-profile projects she was in (Elegant's Anal Princess Diaries 2, JM's Cock Star taking on the Britney Rears mantle over at Hustler, and of course, Corruption for Sex-Z). Take all of that into account and it becomes rather obvious that she began the year focused and with a clear plan of what she wanted to do. And did it. Her campaign produced the desired results. Hate if you want but you're wasting your time.
I dare say Eva Angelina deserves the award more than ANYONE. Based on: Years in the biz Evolution as a performer Volume of 2007 work Intensity of 2007 work Quality of productions she was involved in (not just straight gonzo ...) Hell, she even started doing ANAL this year. Brianna, Annette and Rebeca are up to the same speed (or faster), but don't have the longevity (in the US market). Jenna, for all she has going for her, is a notch behind ... though she's even more due than Eva.

So, since you vote I'd like to ask you this. Could you vote for someone who you didn't care to watch, but worked their ass off as you said? Because if I voted, I think I would have to vote for someone who I really enjoyed watching as opposed to someone who may have done more high profile films or who was more varied in their performances. For instance, I have never got the whole Hillary Scott thing. I think it might be the blond hair. There are a ton of blong girls who have big followings, that just don't do it for me at all. Another one is Annette Schwarz. Just curious.
Your question confuses me. Alot of consideration, more than you can probably imagine, goes into making such an important choice. It's never one or two single things, like the amount of work completed or the visibility of the project. Many things are taken into account. So perhaps you misunderstood: I singled those things out in comparing Hillary Scott to Sandra Romain. Not as the sole basis of my argument for Hillary Scott being crowned Female Performer of the Year. And for the record, I enjoy watching Hillary Scott. I'm saddened to hear that you don't or didn't. But you have every right to your personal preference (such as your dislike of blondes. I'm partial to brunettes, too, but that doesn't make me turn a blind eye to a phenom like Annette Schwarz). However, us not seeing eye-to-eye doesn't give you the right to question mine. Had it been you instead of me, you would have been free to stuff your ballot in whatever box you liked and the world would have to live with it. Miss Scott also happens to be Good actor and did the whole Britney Rears Gig which was a Commercial and Critical sucess.Her rival Sandra Romain is just a pure Romper and might I say the greatest.She could not act to save her life and maybe she lost points in that department. So let me clarify that Miss Scott deserved her Award last year for her workhorse ways and also for her Multi talents in both Romping,acting and also in Dialogue. It helps being a Native English speaker and so that's why I'm saying Brianna Love will likely just edge out her 2 Rivals since both of them are not Native English speakers. But Anette is easily the nastiest Girl out of the 3.

Hillary Scott is fantastic but how many movies did she actually make this year? Not a lot that's for sure especially compared to 2006. There are a lot of girls on that list I don't understand.

Paying attention to and following the sometimes nonsensical trends in voting, nominations and wins at the AVN's this time of year is really one of the only satisfying things left about porn nowadays.
Although ... I am happy they at least got some of the names right. I suppose I should praise the lighted candle instead of cursing the darkness. I mean, there's at least 6=7 girls who could win that I'd consider vastly worthy ... and I think that's pretty good considering ... I'm more upset that the unsung category is so much STRONGER, girl for girl, than the TOP FEMALE list. That's a shame.

Although, I can say, it wouldn't make much sense to have the performers themselves choose anyway. At least, not to me. mapofhawaii- here's my understanding of what happens for nominations... Reviewers give scenes, movies, actors, directors, etc. pre-noms during the review. These are gone over during the nominations process, along with everything that is submitted as 'for your consideration' by studios, directors, performers, and PR people. My understanding is that the AVN staff goes over everything eligible and comes up with the nominations list. At that point, the studios send in multiple copies of each nominated movie and those copies are mailed out by AVN to all the voters, who are then expected to watch everything they are sent so that they vote fairly. It is my experience that almost 1/2 of the people who vote for the XRCO awards also vote for the AVN Awards earlier in the year.

i completely understand where you are coming from. the whole "i didnt get recognized because of this that or the other" really gets on my nerves. if you put yourself out there, then you deserve to be nominated...winning is a different subject. i have other views and comments on this subject, but i would rather keep them to myself, then post them in public view. make any sense?

It's not the Oscars. That'd be childish, petty and class-less (as is the mere suggestion) and I don't think the rest of the nominees are any of the above. At least not enough to take part in something like that. And they shouldn't. Doing such a thing is a slap in the face to your fellow nominees and AVN. That's a bit extreme, don't you think?
