...about contract porn babe attempting to buy coke (the drug, not the drink) with a personal check. The item went on to wonder how long the studio would put up with her addiction.

I am not going to say that I'm not asking this for gossip value. I am. But I certainly hope it isn't one of my faves. Does anyone know who the item might be referring to?

If you pay attention to all the news/gossip sites, you'll see stuff like this "blind item" quite a bit. However, I rarely see sites, except for lukeisback.com, go with this kind of info. and actually ID the girl in question. Most of the time it is "can you guess which contract girl is fucked up on drugs? You can't. Well, I'll give you a clue: almost all of 'em!" How seriously are we supposed to take stuff like this?

Drugs are joked about by fans and industry workers in porn just about as much as non-HIV STDs are (don't you know it? Everyone is on drugs and everyone has had some STD in their career). As such, it is difficult to seperate the exaggerations from the reality.

Not that I'm saying this "blind item" is a joke or made-up. It sounds entirely plausible to me. However, putting up a juicy bit of "gossip" like this and not actually saying who the girl is only feeds into the stereotype I'm talking about.

Point well taken. Speculating which pornstar is hooked on coke is like speculating which football player has athlete's foot (feet?).

What took me aback was that this item appeared on a AVN-related website. To me -- and maybe I'm naive in this -- the AVN is a conservative (for porn, that is) industry mouthpiece (no tacky jokes, please).

Using drugs recreationaly is one thing (hell, I love pot!), having it consume your life is another. Sounds like this particular performer is about to go off a cliff. I think it's a shame, no matter who it is.

So why should I care? Beats me. But I do.
