Brianna Love has made over 100 movies. Over half of them this year. This was definitely her breakout year. She is NOT a contract girl, thus she has appeared in productions this year from virtually every notable gonzo company in porn. From the big boys, right on down to the two knuckleheads with a camcorder. And all the internet sites. She may have also been the girl with the most front boxcovers this year. Without question, she's in the top five. And there were three high profile, highly publicized productions solely about her, released this summer. From initial responses on this and other internet forums, she and Annette Schwartz are the odds-on favorites, among industry folks and fans alike, to win the Best Female Performer Of The Year Award. It would have been pretty hard to be even a casual fan in the world of gonzo this year and miss her. For THIS DISCUSSION only, let’s say that it should be for women who are great performers (possibly great actresses) and who don’t get the big props. That means that a lot of these women fit. Trina Michaels and Mia Rose stand out for me right away. Mia might still be a little new to be put in the Unsung starlet. She is good enough and hot enough that she should be “sung.” Trina has been around a while, isn’t what the industry would call a “star” but if you ask a porn consumer about Trina, they will certainly know that she is great in scenes and is always good for a stroke or two. I think that Adrianna Nicole fits into this cateory as well, but she is a bit new, isn’t she. Just like Bobbi Starr. Come on, give her a chance before you unsing her. I like seeing Brooke Haven, Gianna Lynn and Faith Leon on this list. I do think that these women have flown mostly under the radar and all of them are hot. How about some women who didn’t make this list? Mika Tan? Alana Evans? Cindy Crawford? How about Dana DeArmond and Joanna Angel? These women have been in some high profile projects, can act a bit and by the way, in case you hadn’t noticed….give great scenes. No Performer or Unsung noms for them? I think they both got overlooked. The biggest name on this list is a big surprise. Gianna (Gianna Michaels) is easily one of the hottest women in the industry. She gives great scenes, has one of the best racks in the history of the biz and (I would argue) deserves to be up there for Performer of the Year. If we factor that in, then I guess she really does belong on this list. Somehow Gianna managed not to get nominated for Performer, so here she is. Unsung by definition. Not a bad list overall. She was also nominated by Rog and CAVR. She won both XRCO and AVN awards last year. If you separated The Stars into Gonzo and Contract Star's, Gianna is in the top 3 (Brianna Love & Jenna Haze & Gianna). And, factor in the ton on internet work she does.
