Back in the 90s when I first started going before it was opened to the general public they seemed to be much more fun, exciting and wild. They weren't nearly as crowded, the girls seemed to have more fun, many of them wore less or sexier clothes, more touching was allowed, some of the girls would flash you from time to time and it was easier to get to meet the more famous pornstars. Over the years the girls showed less, seemed to be having less fun, and it's just too crowded these days for my tastes. Some of the fault lies with the convention center being more strict to what the girls can do or show but even with that the shows just don't seem as fun to me as they used to. Anyone feel the same way or have any comments or insights? Is it just this way with the Vegas conventions or is the same thing happening with all the other conventions too? [Link] |

Not only was the show more fun, but, since it was much smaller than the current show in Vegas, it wasn't a huge zoo hanging out at the hotel bar talking with performers and directors. |

So many exhibitors have dropped out. It isn't worth the high dollars it costs to have a booth when your real customers cant get to it. More people doesn't mean better revenues from the show. So you have too many people and too few exhibitors. |

They simply gravitate to the girls showing the most. Example no one was around Clare Dames on Thursday on Friday however you could not get anywhere near her because her boobs were hanging out. 2. I also do not know what is worse the long lines or the short ones. I will not even get into the dozens and dozens of people who "cut" me in line but (Almost)Every fan that was in front of me was an asshole. They either had to tell the star their life story about why they loved them so much or even worst they try to be the stars new "best friend". Sometimes the short lines with just one person in front were worse because then the fan thought he had the right to spend 20 mins talking to star. 3. Although the price stinks in my opinion I wish they would raise it even more to keep crowds out. It is still worth every penny. What I think sucks more is that they cut down fan time. (Since I work in an industry where these type of conventions are for business, I understand it is business) but only 4 hours on Thursday???? Friday was at least fair at 6 hours and Sat looks like a deal but since they all leave early for the show and the crowd is twice as big I always skip Sat. |

It's smaller (but growing), and because it's in LA there are more options. I expect I'll attend this summer, but I strongly doubt I'll go back to Vegas next year. |

However, if like me you just want to gawk at lots of lovely ladies (like so many exotic birds in a zoo), and generally soak up the raw sexual energy and general air of depravity that permeates Las Vegas during the AEE, then I don't think Los Angeles could replicate it. For example, most porn people live in LA and, once a day at the AEE in LA is over, they are likely to just go straight home and not contribute to the general lewd vibe of the city. They need to be isolated from home in a town like Vegas - trapped like caged wild animals in heat - in order to let their hair down. One of the great things about Sin City during its most sinful week is that every night during the AEE week, every nightclub, stripclub, sleazy bar, wedding reception or bar mitzvah has a porn star as MC, teetering on her high stripper heels and shouting into her microphone: "I am a fucking porn star motherfuckers, look at me!". And people do - they crane their necks to see porn chicks wearing next to nothing marching purposefully in military formation through The Palms to some lucky bastard's "Hugh Hefner" suite. Dealers at the Venetian grab other staff to watch their tables whilst they go to "see some porn stars!". Every stripper asked me if I had seen any porn stars that week. The whole town goes crazy for porn chicks for one week - it is Andy Warhol's 15 minutes of fame gone apeshit. I don't think that could be replicated in Los Angeles. As for AEE being a place to do business, there are still plenty of industry-only sessions and events during AEE. Any business can also always be done after the day sessions in the bars and dimly-lit alleyways, where all the other meaningful business transactions take place in Vegas. I also kind of find it a cool novelty at the AEE that the porn chicks have their clothes on for a change - it makes it an interesting challenge to properly identify them! |
