I might be a bigger freak than I ever realized... Just wondered if anyone in this forum has ever thought like me on this:
I respect and admire the male talent that gets wood on command and can perform in front of an audience. However, there are certain male talent that I find non-watchable. I think they ruin the scenes and are boring to watch. Some are too mechanic, others can be totally uncharismatic. I won't mention names, just wondering if anyone, like me, has ever been seconds away from purchasing an adult dvd, just to find out who's performing with the female talent that u like, and then just NOT buying it, frustrated of what could have been....

Absolutely. We watch for the women, but the guys make or break the scene. There are several "no buys" for me. Ugly, vicious, and completely without impulse control are their hallmarks.
Yeah, a relatively early consideration, thats contemplated generally after "is this anal only", and prior to "which dude is fucking HER up the ass". Although its level of importance may fall secondary to other factors, there better be some legitimate ass pervs among the male cast, particularly if the director is the unassertive sort, less demanding, or instrumental on making sure said dick goes into subject ass in x number of varied positions. I realize it may be a ludicris method in which to select porn, but its the Industry that poses the equations for us to figure out what kind of mileage we each can expect.
To be honest I am usually too into the girl to care much about the male performers.
The only male performers who will make a no-sale for me even if I am into the girl are Max Hardcore and Ed Powers.
Max Hardcore, I am not into that extreme abusive style at all. All that gagging and piss play is yuck to me. Also I hate how he makes the girls look, with those ridiculous outfits and ugly make-up.
Ed Powers, I just find that dude real annoying and hard to look at. His scenes just go on and on. Plus he always asks the girls to play with his loaded up condom and it's disgusting to me for some reason.
#2 Most black males — [A few males have ruined the rest for me] The problems are the shit talking, the lack of a cum shot (having to squeeze out cum like they're getting the last bit out of a tube of toothpaste), and being limp for most of the scene. Fuck off Wesley Pipes. All three apply directly to him.
#3 Dick Nasty — Nasty is right, with his old ass.
#4 Brett Rockman
#5 Pat Myne
Ninety percent of the films I get do not use these guys so I really don't have to worry about them. But sometimes I'll see a film that's not made by the companies whose product I prefer, so I definitely check the box to see which guys are in it.

I don't really exclude any scene/movie simply for the male talent. There have been certain scenes I've disliked certain guys in, but then there are others that I've enjoyed. I think it depends on my mood at the time or my wife's if we are watching together. Sometimes the rough play is fun and a bit of a change up, but it can also get overbearing and disturbing on occasion.
There was a black guy who was in a lot of Anabolic stuff in about five years ago whose name escapes me right now, but who I know I have seen on these forums, who I avoided solely because he always wore a baseball hat. It was so irritating to me because it would often block my view of what was going on. Who wants to see the brim of a hat rather than a girls face?
There are plenty of guys I am not a fan of right now, but only Rocco and Max are true no buys for me because I can't tolerate their shenanigans. I don't like TT Boy for the same reason, but luckily I don't see him very often.
If Brian Surewood would just get himself off the streets, take a bath and get a shave and a haircut I would find him much more tolerable. He is the only one I don't like very much that I see a lot. Luckily the directors show very little of his head so it is not usually a problem for me.
This is really interesting. Thanks for all cool input.
I must admit that these male, for one or more reasons, don't appeal to me:
- Talon: porn's own michael jackson - Tyce Bune: has he ever had wood? - Lee Stone: rude - Alex Sanders: Slap happy - Brian Surewood:(great guy, boring to watch) - Tommy Gunn - Brian Pumper - Pat Myne (overexposed) - Jenner - Tyler Durden - Mick Blue (this is the mechanic robot! Ruins every scene!) - Marco Banderas (mechanic too, passion?) - Joachim - Dick Nasty - John Strong (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....) - Herschel Savage (retirement home in Florida next) - Dillon
However, and in all fairness, there are a few male that almost every time get the best out of the talent, and are a joy to watch:
- Manuel F - Steve Holmes - Brandon Iron - Tee Reel - Sascha - Mr Pete - Mark Ashley - Lexington Steele - Rocco Siffredi - (James Deen/- Kris Slater)
And for the rest, all you TT Boy's n Dirty Harrys, W Pipes and M Stefanos +++, it depends from scene to scene, and the talent.
Good male talent is like a good coach, you may not be focusing on them while play is going on, but if he does a bad job it still affects the action on the "field". (except if the female talent is exceptionally good like belladonna)
Actually, I tend to do the opposite. I go for movies starring the male performers that I know can put on a good show.
Rocco may get some flak for being a little too rough sometimes but he was always one hell of a good performer. I never worried when I picked out a Rocco flick. He was like the Energizer Bunny. LOL! You never had to worry that he wasn't gonna be able to perform or shoot and you could focus entirely on the women.
totally agree with you randomprecision, with rocco you know that your going to get a hot scene regardless of who hes peforming with. Plus brian surewood rocks as pirate turned pornstar
I'm not saying he si not good, it's just my psycho psyche... I have seen him too often.....too much. Overexposed to me. I loved his work as Lucianno @ extreme associates.... Also at the start at Plat x/red light.... but now.... It depends...
Hey, I like Mr. Marcus. He's a laid back dude who's strong but never too aggressive. He keeps a sense of humor about his scenes.
A lot of female talent consider him one of the nicest male performers in the biz.
Girls who haven't done a lot of IR on camera like Joanna Angel and Riley Mason, they've done scenes with Marcus because of his rep.
It was cool to see Mr. Marcus in Joanna Angel's Cum On My Tattoo. Everybody else in video is totally alt and punked out. And then there's Marcus fuckin Joanna while wearing his ball cap.
I mostly buy for the girl. But if I have a choice between Movie A with "lame male talent" and Movie B with "great male talent", I'll buy Movie B everytime.
Really? I recall him having a talent for getting hot performances from normally subdued girls. The ladies seem to like him. One thing I don't like is his insistence on choking the girls. Not cool.
Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00

I actually asked Mark to do that to me on set so I'd know what it would feel like, and he grabs under the jaw, not into the throat, so it is probably much less dangerous than it appears to be. Not a professional opinion, just telling you guys how it felt to me. :)
anyway, to answer the question, there are definitely some guys I won't watch in scenes. either because i find them unattractive, not into their scenes (too robotic), or just plain weak performers.
I can block out a lot, but the one male talent I can't stomach is Gauge's early suitcase pimp Mojo. There's not an inch of his flabby, almost sickly-white body that isn't covered in jailhouse tattoos.
not to sound gay or anything but male talent is big for me. if i want to watch a scene with one of my favorite starlets and she's in it with a guy that i can't stand then i'll choose not to watch it.

Thanks, Tricia!
That is actually comforting to know... I suppose if the girl has an idea that he's going to do it and tenses up the jaw/neck muscles it's not too bad..or at least looks worse than it is.
I am very critical when it comes to male talent and unfortunately I find that the majority of dudes fall short of my ideal. Now I never choose a movie based on the guys but the question is are there any guys that ruin what should've been a good movie/scene given the females are attractive and capable. I find that there are several classes of offenders that make my list.
If there is a golden rule for me it is: Treat the women with respect. Some people think that porn is, by definition, dirty and filthy and as such, so are the women. I don't think this way. Neanderthals, however, have it set in their minds that women are nothing but cock receptacles and deserve nothing more than to be used and abused. Devlin Weed is someone I'd like to see banned from porn permanently. This guy talks to women in the most disparaging manner. It's so bad it almost resembles rape. Ironically, Weed has been in porn for a long time and he didn't used to be that way. In fact, he was one of the few males who would go down on a women with reckless abandon and try to make the female climax.
Narcissists piss me off because they don't understand the simple fact the the porn consumer is here to enjoy the women and not their sorry asses. Rico Strong and Deep Threat come to mind when I think of this category. They're more concerned with how they look than putting on a decent scene.
Frat Boys simply have no concept of how to treat women much less please them. These guys resemble monkeys more so than men. They're most recognized for pumping away furiously at a woman with complete disregard to her enjoyment or comfort. When watching a scene starring a Frat Boy, I get the feeling that he is more concerned with showing off to his buddies than making the scene enjoyable for the viewer. Brett Rockman, Tony T and that guy from Bang Bros.(JD, I think) are perfect examples of Frat Boys.
The Clown is a special club of losers that I describe as being completely oblivious of their own ineffectiveness and unpopularity. The Clown is constantly carrying himself as though he is charismatic and charming when, in fact, he is an annoying doofus. John E. Depth and Brian Pumper fit this category perfectly. John E. Depth consistently has wood problems and fucks like he's half asleep. I saw a scene with him once with Sandra Romain and he couldn't keep it hard. How could you not get it up for Sandra Romain?! Yet, if you ask him, he's Don Juan. Brian Pumper is a sad case. He's constantly trying to be witty during his scenes, engaging in "sex talk" with his partner but it comes off so corny it's pitiful. And I truly believe he wants to be Lexington Steele. I've seen him copy Lex's unique mannerisms several times during scenes. Clowns are more annoying than anything else but so much so that they're a serious detriment to any scene.
Control Freaks piss me off but they don't always ruin a scene for me unless it gets out of hand and the female is visibly unhappy. These guys find it necessary to give women explicit instructions throughout the scene as though they are sex slaves as opposed to sex partners. Michael Stefano, Mark Davis, and Manuel Ferrera are frequent members of this club. I know these guys are popular but it annoys the hell out of me the way they talk to the women sometimes.
Wesley Pipes is in his own class. He embodies some of each of the aforementioned classes but manages to offend me in a way that is all his own. Infamous for his diarrhea of the mouth, Wesley is also ugly to the degree that I can not suspend the disbelief that any woman is attracted to him. It hurts my heart to see a female that I like have to do a scene with him. I praise the day when he disappears from porn forever.
With all the ranting about what I don't like about male talent, I'd like to mention a few of the good guys. I've seen several people complain about Mr. Marcus but I've been watching movies with him in them since he had a full head of hair. Mr. Marcus has always been a guy that the women respond to. Across the board, the women who partner with him want to fuck him and you can tell. Forget about the baseball cap. It's irrelevant especially when some other guys wear dark sunglasses and Timberland boots (indoors) throughout their scenes. Nat Turnher also gets a little flak but I don't see why. Like Mr. Marcus, women genuinely like him and he treats them with respect. Not once have I seen him treat a women like a piece of meat. That goes a long way in my book. Another guy I like is Mark Ashley. Mark always tries to get the woman off and succeeds to great effect. These three guys have great rapport with women and never mistreat them or try to showboat and those are the qualities that make for a good male porn star in my opinion.
Thanks, Hornyboy. Glad you enjoy the scenes. I recently got the chance to work for the website www.sexandsubmission.com and they kind of let you go a little wild for them. If you enjoy Mark Davis's style, too, he does a lot of work for them. Just giving the head's up.
Enjoy!

I think Brandon you should become a resident at sexandsubmission.com because 50 to 1 is getting a little too vanilla for me, and I don't see the I Love It Rough series resurrected soon.

Miroku- that was some very astute woodsman profiling there....Have to say I agree with your sentiments, for the most part. (though I am inclined to look at male talent on a case by case/scene by scene basis.)
I guess you can say I am a fan of Wesley Pipes for the simple fact that I like the way he talks shit to the girl, does it get annoying at times.. Yes but for the most part I find it to be comic relief for me. I try not to get caught up in the male talent thingy because majority of the time I am not even thinking about the male talent. For instant I was watching Heavy metal II with Jewel and Lex and the whole time I was watching the scene that was my cock going into Jewel not Lex, I knew that Lex was banging her but my total focus was on Jewel and me visualizing my cock going inside her. Me being black the scene was even better becaue I am seeing her with a black guy. So for me the male talent does not mean that much to me at all.
A couple are to be avioded at all costs: John Strong, Lee Stone, Michael Stephano. Why? Lee is just too obnoxious. Strong is too controlling of girls, continually giving orders and depleting scenes of chemistry. He also performs basically the same every time. Stephano is overused to the max, as are the other two. Basically, I've had enough of seing the same 6-8 guys over and over and over and over....
Domineko: the black Max Hardcore Brian Pumper Mark Anthony Rick Master Ron Jeremy Michael Chapman: Rocco's sidekick Kid Jamaica All of the Brazilian male performers Valentino Alex Sanders Bam / Mr. Bigg: Gay Tony T. Talon: Gay Ben English: Gay Jeremy Steele Brett Rockman Nick Manning Deshaun Joaquim Kessef John Strong: Ass hole Johnny Depth Johnny Thrust JR King Karl Kinkaid Marco Banderas Tyce Bune Brandon Iron Joey Ray Dwayne Cumminz Frank Tusion John West J.R. Langoon
IMHO these guys can add greatly to a scene:
Nacho Vidal Chris Charming Dirty Harry Steve Holmes Jean Claude Baptiste Mark Ashley Manuel Ferrara Mr. Marcus Mr. Pete Nat Turner Rocco Siffredi Scott Nails Sean Michaels Jean Valjean

I avoid Nick Manning like I avoid telemarketers. Does he know any words in the English language other than dropping fucking loads? Plus I always get the feeling he has never met a reflection in the mirror that he hasn't fallen in love with.

When buying videos, I look for the female talent. Though I think I should start paying attention to what male talent is accompanying them. I can't put faces to names yet but there are some guys I would not want to watch again.
I think it's pretty safe to say that if directors avoided hiring any male talent that offended someone there might be two guys working in the business.
Personally, as long as the guy is professional and doesn't act like the scene is all about him I'm not going to complain. I'd much rather spend my time bitching about the director!
