I hadn't noticed this. Frankly, I'd be surprised if the TVX release is genuinely uncut but I'd like to hear from someone who's actually seen it. The Alpha Blue disk is, perhaps unsurprisingly, no better in quality than a bootleg I already had laying around.
My question: how could TVX put this out?? VCA owns this film. So both Alpha Blue and TVX's discs are illegal, it seems. Alas, I guess because none of VCA's classics library is coming to DVD anytime soon, all of their titles are fair game for others to put out on DVD from old tapes.
They also released The First Time bearing a "original uncut version" banner across the top. Was there any questionable material in this film or is TVX just putting this across the top of all their titles now? They claim it is Mimi Morgan's first and only adult film but that doesn't appear to be true as she was in many other titles so I question these banners.
I've also got the second Zebedy Colt collection and am inclined to recommend it. The picture quality on Affairs Of Janice is very poor but Terri's Revenge fares a bit better. Sadly, the third movie looks the best of the bunch - and it's the one I have little interest in.
TVX, VCA, and Alpha blue archives have the right to sell babyface...its in the public domain. the only compnaies with original masters are VCA and TVX and only TVX has the uncut version....
THE FIRST TIME IS OWNED EXLUSIVELY BY TVX.....AS FOR MIMI MORGAN THATS IN THE FILM IT'S THE ONLY TIME SHE WAS IN A PORNO FILM...ANY ONE ELSE USING THAT NAME IS NOT THE MIMI MORGAN IN THE FILM.
That makes no sense, Bobox. THE FIRST TIME was distributed by Essex, and their entire library is in the possession of VCA/Hustler (which makes me question how TVX could put out both ANGEL ON FIRE, which was an Essex film, and HOT NURSES, which Roberta Findlay owns lock, stock and barrel). OUTRIGHT! And Mimi Morgan is *the* Mimi Morgan, who was in tons of San Francisco films, including THE RESURRECTION OF EVE, shot 5 years previously! There is no other performer who used that name, including in THE FIRST TIME.
BABYFACE may not have a standing copyright on file, but you still have to deal with: chain of title. VCA should have this, as I believe they bought this film outright along with other de Renzy films. If VCA owns the film outright, then only THEY have the exclusive right to distribute it and profit from it. "Public domain" is too broad of a term, and people think that too many films fall into this category. It's simply not so. A film is still protected without a copyright renewal after the initial 28 year protection.
JOPLIN SEEMS TO HAVE A LOT OF HALF KNOWLEDGE THAT HE TURNS INTO AN ALL INCLUSIVE STORY, WHAT I SUGGEST HE LEARN IS HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SUED FOR LOOSE TALK THAT DEEM TO BE CHATTING BUT IS IN FACT SLANDEROUS IN FEDERAL COURT. CHATTING CAN BE FUN BUT SHOULD BE CONTROLED. IF HE HAS A BONE TO PICK WITH THE TVX COMPANY I SUGGEST HE CONTACT THEM PERSONALLY I'M SURE THEY WILL BE GLAD TO TALK TO HIM.
I just did a search on the Essex issue in a previous thread way back in April of this year, and TVXCreative does offer interesting and understandable reasoning of how TVX gained control of some Essex titles. So my apologies for any implications of films being stolen!! I must admit, it's a complicated process trying to figure out who owns what these days, but the general belief is that VCA owns all of the Essex titles. Somehow some slipped through and went to someone else. So again, my apologies to TVX.
The previous screen name (TVX Creative) was somehow inaccessible, but this is the same person. We could scratch our heads all day and try to figure out public domain, yet the films being released through TVX Films (not the bootlegged tvxdvd.com) are indeed not stolen in any way whatsoever. I wish you could visualize the time we spend researching who owns what, who has rights to what titles and for how long (and in what format) the rights extend. Many of the obscure classic titles and the validity of the true owners sometimes finds us also in grey areas, and many films we were going to release this year - we did not, simply because we questioned the true ownership.

TVX Creative/TVX Films: Does the uncut banner appearing on these releases mean that TVX has decided to revisit past edited films, like Irresistible and The Journey of O, and release them uncut as well?
The film "Irresistible" is already edited from "Simply Irresistible", and the golden shower scene in "The Journey of O" is a scene we have intact on file, but choose not to release in our version, to play it safe legally.
I can understand the cut from The Journey of O, but most of what is cut from Irresistible/Simply Irrisistible I doubt would be of legal problem. Why do you choose to keep those portions cut?
The only thing that could have not remained in the X Rated version is a portion of the master which could not be transfered because it was in very bad shape. Our editor, however doesn't think that is the case and feels that everything else is in tact with the exception of a few frames, not entire scenes.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I've just always enjoyed Irresistible and hate to see it edited. Here is what I noticed missing from the release during the period that VCX was your distributor. If you've remastered the film since then to include this footage, my apologies...
I purchased a copy of Babyface by TVX from Lasersedge. I can tell you that my DVD-R copy from my VCA VHS original is far superior in picture quality to the TVX DVD. If you have a VHS copy, don't bother buying the TVX dvd.
I finally saw Alpha Blue's version of BABYFACE and it, too, is a very poor, faded tape master. And to make matters worse, for some reason (as has happened with other ABA titles), I could get no audio while viewing the film. My VHS copy from VCA is colorful, bright and sharp. ABA's disc is none of these, unfortunately.
I've been looking for the full version of Simply Irresistible (specifically the extended Mata Hari scene). I'd appreciate any help I can get finding this. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but this is the closest I've gotten.
Good luck with finding it. The only reason I was able to do that comparison is I had an old decaying recorded off Showtime version of Simply Irresistible. I've never seen it released anywhere else.
