I had Barbara Broadcast in the deck, and after our surprisingly pleasant experience with Misty, she was as eager as I to enjoy another film from the golden age of porn. We're both born New Yorkers, so the openning sequence of Park Ave, in the 70s was more than enough to put us in a charitable frame of mind as the film began to unfold. But it didn't take long for the film to start to drag. Though ambitiously produced, Broadcast had none of the wit, pace, or charm that made Misty fun to watch. Even with the nicely trimmed 70's twat (which I really like) rendered as only film can render pussy, I found the sex scenes a snooze, and by the "mysterious man in the office" sex scene we were both bored. I asked my wife "You wanna see if Willlie Gets a Brand New Thing is any better?"she blurted out "Yes!" as if I'd asked her if she wanted to blow Kianu Reeves." So much for the golden age :-( T.C. | sdc Member 236 Posts 4/03 | Posted - Oct 4 2003 : 6:48AM Incidentally, anyone interested in either Radley Metzger or the Golden Age of adult movies (in fact, anyone interested in erotic films in general) should have a look at Synapse Films release of The Image . This one is pretty harrowing - being a very literal adaptation of Jean De Berg's (sic) S&M novel - but is a wonderful example of the heights an adult film can achieve. It does contain hardcore footage albeit less than we would generally expect from an adult film. It should also be noted that the presentation is absolutely stunning and puts to shame the treatment afforded to the classics by the adult industry itself. SDC [Link] |
