I love the concept of bareback films; however, I refuse to purchase new ones. Sorry, but too many of my friends are dead as a result of AIDS and HIV-related illnesses. Until there is either a cure or a vaccination guaranteeing prevention, condoms are a necessity. Going without, even in porn, is irresponsible.

Heck, im the new guy here and well i take your points into consideration but when it comes down to it, i look at whatever gets me off. I hear your opinion about condoms and its a need more then a choice but when looking at porn i like it raw? does anyone have any suggestions on videos to watch or studios to look out for?

There are several, two of the best being Hot Desert Knights and Cobra Video.

Be aware that a number of HDK's performers are HIV positive and choose to perform without condoms. I don't ask that others abide by my socio-political boycott; just that they be aware of my reasons and the consequences of eschewing the use of condoms: HIV and AIDS are on the rise in the gay community again -- especially among its younger members. There is no excuse with the information now available that this should be the case. ~ GS

Sir Eddie V:

Let me soften my tone somewhat. I don't mean to come down on you personally for your taste in porn -- as I said, I like bareback videos, too. I buy a lot of the old titles as they are reissued on DVD -- ones from back before AIDS was a factor. I'm in my late 40's. I remember sex pre-AIDS; luckily, I was never infected. I also knew personally many of the gay porn stars from the 70's and early 80's who were among the many to succumb to the AIDS epidemic early on. It makes the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS a personal one.

GaySatyr et al,

I have no interest in being polictally correct. I have a deep interest in producing films that people can enjoy. One of the reasons I produce in the style that I do is that I want to quash any concerns the audience might have about STDs in general and AIDS in particular, so they can just sit back and enjoy the fleshy, sticky humanity of the sex.

I have always presumed that when I shot a gay "hardcore love story" that I would do it with a couple who was exclusive, knew each other's HIV status, and didn't use condoms.

What's your take?

Tony,

If you'll add one more thing to the video, I'll agree wholeheartedly and buy your product. Include a prelude scene explaining that the actors are lovers and aware of each others HIV status. Point out that HIV/AIDS is deadly and forever with no known cure and with condoms being its best form of prevention.

I'm perfectly willing for you to allow the scene to be skipped easily by pressing the chapter forward button on the remote; but I want it to play normally as the first scene of the video. I think anyone producing bareback videos aimed at the gay market should be responsible for promoting safer sex by making some kind of a statement.

It could be something really quick and simple like having one of the couples featured in your video introduce themselves:

[Scene opens on two major hunks, nude, in bed, sporting erections and fondling each other. They appear to become aware of an audience.]
Adam: "Hi, guys. I'm Adam."
[Camera moves more tightly in on both guys.]
Steve: "And I'm Steve. We've been together for 8 years and we know we're safe."
Adam: "But remember, AIDS is out there and it's forever -- there is no cure."
Steve: "And it kills -- if you play around, play safe: Use condoms."
Adam: "Now, enjoy the video!"
[Adam winks at camera as Steve shifts to go down on him.]
[Fade to title sequence.]

Is that unreasonable?

Tony,

I've never seen your video, "Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story," but I just checked it out on your website. I've now read the reviews and watched the clip. I'm impressed.

It seems that for the most part, the guys in these bareback videos are pretty unappealing

Maybe people like that real life look, but not me...

Cindy Papa,

There are some very attractive men doing bareback videos; and there are some trolls.

Cobra Video features the 18 to 23 (or so) y/o college set and, as a whole, they are one hot group of twinks, rivaling anything Bel Ami has to offer. My problem is the message they send. It is exactly their age group (and a few years younger) who are most likely to play around unprotected and it IS their age group (and a few years younger) in which HIV/AIDS is making devastatingly new inroads.

I remember Chris Williams well. He was born in 1967 and died in 1991. He lived with AIDS for 5 of his brief 24 years on this earth. He was a truly beautifully handsome tall blond to rival anything Bel Ami or Cobra have in their stables today. I knew him before his all-too-brief porn career. I remember how excited he was after his first video shoot. And I remember how he looked the last time I saw him a few months before he died.

No one knew what was happening when Chris began his career. The worst you could get could be cured with a few shots of penicillin and a 10-day supply of pills. Only it couldn't. And you die! And it doesn't go away.

Anything that encourages that kind of irresponsible behavior needs to be curbed. The message has to reach those who are most vulnerable. And if it doesn't, it is those of us who do know who have killed them.

That's why I'm political about bareback porn.

Why doesn't the gay porn industry adopt the same standards for STD testing as the straight porn industry? Do not allow actors with STD's to perform, even with condoms. In addition, responsible safe sex guidelines should be followed in their personal life between tests if they are performing. Is this too much to expect from gay porn performers?

This is my first time in the chat room...
I'm Gay-Curious & Bi-Curious and have started to collect a few DVDs. However, although I am totally in favour of condom use in "real life", I think porn is more of a fantasy and therefore I want my porno to be condom-free.
I am sure the gay porn industry could instigate the same AIDs & HIV tests as the rest do...
So... this is my question. So far the only place I've found to buy sensibly priced condom free porn is Homoactive.com but they don't sell pre-condom Bi-Sexual stuff.
Years ago I had a few condom-free Bi-Sex VHS tapes but can't seem to find anywhere to buy them now...
Does anybody out there know where I can get Bi-Sex DVDs that are condom free???
