I've just bought this on DVD and may I say it's one of the funniest and most accurate porn parodies I have ever seen. Everything about it is SPOT ON. The costumes, the voices, the mannerisms, the 1960s setting. I give this 12 out of 10. Absolute brilliant porn parody at its best. LOL. CLASSIC! * Oh, and the sex is top-notch too.
If you're a fan of the original 1960s Batman series, you'll laugh out loud at this porn movie. Everything is spot on. The detail to the original is amazing. Ha!
Looks like a "take" on the old film, which I just watched a few weeks ago. Wow, those pics look pretty similar to it. Yeah I gotta see that. If only to see Batgirl get fucked, and to watch Batman give Catwoman the shanking she deserved over 40 years ago. Ha, ha!
I watched this, expecting to be disappointed like usual, and it was great. Aside from good design etc, there was one important factor sorely missing from the recent parodies: integrated sex scenes. I asked Woody in another thread if the sex was integrated into the narrative, and even though he said 'yes' I didn't fully believe him. Well, it's true folks.
Okay, I just saw Batman and, while I really got a kick out of how much fun it was, and how accurate a parody it was, it seemed to have the same problem that a lot of these parodies have, and maybe some of you can relate to what I'm talking about. For some reason, when the sex begins, it seems that everybody pretty much forgets about the character they're playing and the time period they're supposedly in. Suddenly the tattoos come out, and the usual cliche, "Oh yeah, fuck my fucking pussy" phrases start in. This TOTALLY takes me out of the moment, and suddenly we go from Batman to a Zero Tolerance gonzo flick. Now, if I'm in a gonzo mood, that's fine. But if I'm in the mood for a supposedly "retro" parody with people playing a character, then that's what it should be. This split personality approach to parodies is really starting to annoy my wife and I, and I'm sure there's others out there that feel like we do. To be fair, the first scene did a pretty good job of keeping the retro feel and consistency of character. Evan Stone did a good job of keeping his Riddler persona, and Kimberly Kane was sexy as hell, with her 60's hair, stockings, garters, and nicely groomed hairy coochie. Further, she never seemed to go into "porno slut" mode. For me, this was the standout scene. Robin and Batgirl were pretty good together, as well. But the Joker scene was downright annoying, mainly because of Andy San Dimas, with her ridiculous writhing around and never-ending torrent of typical porno-lingo. Yawn. Unfortunately, the same can be said of the final scene with Catwoman, played by Tori Black. The buidup was great, with her in Julie Newmar mode, but as soon as she removed her mask and clothes, she morphed into Tory Lane. No meows, no quips, no more Catwoman, period. Just typical raunchy porn sex. What a missed opportunity to give the Batman fans their Julie Newmar Catwoman fantasy. Oh well... So, to sum up, kudos to Vivid for putting some thought into the parody, and getting it so dead on, with the costumes and characterizations. Kudos to Axel Braun for choosing great angles and making great choices to help the sex sizzle most of the time. But major demerits to whomever is responsible for failing to keep the sex consistent with the characters and the retro vibe of this classic show!
^ I totally agree with you regarding other parodies, but one of the things I liked most about Batman is how much more integrated the sex was. Not perfect, by any means - and particularly the Catwoman scene. I was annoyed that she didn't take advantage of the Catwoman persona. Overall though, this film is easily the most integrated parody so far. I hope they keep going in this direction, and make them increasingly integrated.
Totally agree with that sentiment. Parodies are fun, and my wife and I can enjoy this type of porn, together. Integrated sex really makes a difference, as far as our enjoyment of the movie, as a whole. Glad that Vivid has taken this genre up a level.
Dude, that happens in almost EVERY plot-based porno! You see movies about some young, innocent about to have their first time and then they start fucking like a Nevada brothel worker. Or you see a movie about a nerdy guy that acts really geeky during the movie, but when he gets to have sex with a chick, he's banging her like a drum. The Paul Thomas movie "Sex" immediately comes to mind there. Mike Horner was playing this really nerdy guy, but during his sex scenes he was screwing the girls like a porn stud. I had the urge once to watch one of those Italian pornos about priests and nuns fucking because, well, I think blasphemy is really funny so I watched one and I thought the actors would be acting like they were doing something wrong and sinful but they just couldn't resist which would've been really hot. Instead, once the sex started, the nuns were sucking and fucking just like the porn stars that they were. Instead of a movie about Catholic priests and nuns falling to temptation, it was just a porno with porn stars dressed like priests and nuns (and nun habits aren't exactly sexy). It was really disappointing. I read an interview of a director a while back and he was talking about how he makes his actors stay in character during the sex scenes, which is something that always bothered him. I wish I could remember who it was. I completely agree with him and it something that bugs the shit out of me in plot based movies. You wouldn't think it would be that hard for the performers to stay in character during the sex scenes since most of them are putting on a performance during the sex anyway.
^ There are plenty of XXX films where the sex is integrated and the performers stay in character. They're predominantly from the 70s/80s, but there are hundreds of them.
I'm not Gore Gore Girl but I have some thoughts on this. I think it has to do with the differences between who was making films in the 70s verses who is making the movies today. Back then, people from Hollywood moonlighted on adult sets. The productions cost more and some of those who weren't moonlighting had aspirations of Hollywood. As a result, some were trying to make films, that were also porn. These days how movies are shot have changed so the requirement to use harder equipment is gone so the overlap between Hollywood and the Porn industry is essentially gone. I think most of the people involved today are making porn that happens to have a plot thrown in for the most part. I suspect the current studio structure has to do with what we are seeing today as well, afraid to veer from the formula that they feel works because they might lose money. The few companies that really seem to fight the formula and go back to making movies that are also porn don't seem to make it. Pulpo and Evil Motion come to mind. I don't know if this is due to the adult purchasing public not liking the movies that fight the structure they have become used to or if it is due to the smaller studios just being unable to get adequate distribution and advertising to be able to make back their money plus a profit from the titles. Unless outsiders from the industry find the interest and the money to produce content outside the established studio structure, I doubt much will change in this regard either.
^ Thanks Flash - I wasn't sure how I was going to answer, but a lot of what you said was swimming through my mind, particularly the part about Hollywood/porn separation. There was a time, not really that long ago, when people genuinely believed Hollywood would integrate hardcore into their flicks. How wrong they were. Nowadays, if an art film includes hardcore sex, the film makes sure the sex could not be interpreted as "solely for arousal" (i.e. "porn"), usually resulting in a lot of really dark and depressing sex flicks. I often say to people, if the sex is too much fun, you're veering dangerously close to porno. But anyway, bottom line for me is that folks making films are not willing to take the risk, which is a shame. Integrated films like the Taboo series sell very well, so it's not like there isn't an audience out there. However, you couldn't exactly take individual scenes from Taboo and put them online (not that successfully anyway, especially not from films where the sex scene is fractured by narrative - think of the John Leslie scene in Sex World). Technology (and audience participation in that technology) is the culprit in that respect. Those are my thoughts in a nutshell. In terms of Hollywood v. Hardcore, there are a couple of interesting books on the subject. One is called...[ invalid url ]. I haven't read either of them, but they're in my bibliography.
Very interesting thoughts, all around. Thanks to Flash and Gore for providing some historical and cultural context to what is going on. From browsing the forum, and reading reviews, and so forth, it seems that there are enough people who agree that sex is sexiest when it's smart, clever, and believable. When a twinkie is willing to have hardcore sex on film, it's basically par for the course. The exaggerated oohs and aahs are all "paint by the numbers", and there's nothing that really gets the blood pumping, though you can probably still get off, if they're strong enough eye candy. By contrast, the smarter and more sophisticated women who are given some good material to work with, produce some smoldering sex, even if they're not as attractive as the twinkie is. So, would I be wrong in assuming that a parody featuring a clever script in the hands of believable, truly sexy performers (in the tradtion of Veronica Hart, Marilyn Chambers and Kay Parker) would stand out head and shoulders above everything else in its genre and eclipse its competition, in terms of commercial success? Because if that is an accurate assumption, then that's what I think these features should aspire to. This is not a Herculean task, IMO. There are enough actresses in the industry who have a head on their shoulders, and can keep the acting believable, even during the sex. You've seen them and so have I. But of course you need a director who gives a damn to even make that part of the filmmaking process. Further, like in the case of Batman, if we're supposed to be in the 60's, then take 2 seconds to cover up the freakin' tattoos! Dig deep, spring for the extra makeup and get the job done! The upshot is that somebody has to have the balls to raise the bar, in terms of making a clever, consistent, sexy film, when it comes to these parodies. When they do, they'll stick out like a sore thumb, their profits will be huge, and others will feel the pressure to emulate them, in order to compete. Arguably, Vivid has gotten the furthest, in this regard, so far. But there's still a long way to go.
Not necessarily. I think they'll always be a hit-or-miss aspect to adult films, whether feature, parody, all-sex, gonzo, fetish, or whatever. I mean I think there often is a marketing aspect to even successful adult feature films. Simply making a good film doesn't mean it'll be successful or even be well-known. Not to say word-of-mouth can't help a porno be successful, but I see no real proof it ever really does. Edited by - aplus on 7/14/2010 8:51:33 PM
Fair point. That's why I asked if the assumption was an accurate one. I'm certainly not the authority, but there seems to be some logic to it, though I agree it doesn't necessarily GUARANTEE a larger profit margin, than if it had just been the typical standard fare. But basically, I'm a believer that true quality stands out. When all the elements come together, and something original or at least something extraordinary comes as a result, everybody wants it, everybody is talking about it, and the bar is raised, even if just a tiny bit. The question is whether or not anybody in the industry cares. The overwhelming concensus, here on the forums is that nobody really does. I'm beginning to agree.
The Tori Black scene was good. But why on earth didn't they have her keep the Batgirl mask on while getting fucked? They seriously dropped the ball on this one big time. Who the fuck makes a decision like that? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Wasn't there someone on the set with half a brain to say that keeping it on would make a much better scene? UGH...shit like this annoys the hell out of me.
MB, not to be picky, but I'm assuming you meant the CATWOMAN mask, right? Assuming you did, I'll bet everyone here agrees with you. What guy wasn't thinking about his adolescent Julie Newmar fantasy, when the sex scene started? The Julie Newmar mystique was lost when the mask came off. OH, I was so frustrated! Further, if the mask had stayed on, perhaps that would have helped to offset the ridiculous non-stop verbal rant Tori was on, during the sex. Sheesh! Kudos to Jeff Mullen for making a conscious effort to always keep his characters IN CHARACTER during the sex. So far, he's the only guy I'm aware of who makes this a priority, and I hope more folks do the same.
I totally agree. I said it in this thread Do feature directors underestimate their audience? and I say it again: The story has to support the sex and the sex has to support the story. I want the stars to stay in character during the sex. I want the sex and the story to be an entity. GGG and Flash already named most reasons for the disintegration. I might add that Vivid and Wicked put far more comps on the market than films. When a director shoots a scene for a film it has to work as comp fodder. I really wish that directors would strive to do better feature porn. But the internet kills the feature just like it kills the concept album.
Finally saw it, and I will say I thought it was good. Could have used more dialogue though, which is a strange statement coming from me. I'm usually a less-is-more man when it comes to plotted films, but some films lend themselves to it, and I surely thought this was one of them.

Others, such as Flash and Gore Gore Girl, have said essentially the same thing in this thread. For me that seems like an impossibility in today's porn environment. So few good actresses and actors, so much silicon, tats and piercing. A good script is ruined before it is filmed. Then, to add insult to injury, the director and film editor put the final nails in the coffin with their close-ups, lousy camera angles and crazy lighting. End of OT rant. Turn the Bat Lantern back on.
I don't necessarily need the stars to stay in character during the sex, but at the same time don't want them to fall totally out-of-character like I felt kimberly Kane's character did. Still not exactly sure why she fucked who she did in it either, and why she didn't fuck who she should have fucked. Most features do seem to have a problem matching sex and story. In fairness though, sometimes I think it has more to do with a lack of chemistry between actors though.
As an aside: I was at the Big Apple Con comic convention yesterday, and both Bert Ward and Adam West were there... oh how I wanted to bring my copy of Batman XXX and see if I could trick them into signing it... lol...
According to a back issue description here he directed "A Young Crimefighter's Fantasy" in Hustler 1984. But it doesn't say what the content is exactly.
That's it. Looking over that page jarred my memory. Hustler ran a series of photo shoots ostensibly directed by a celebrity. In addition to the aforementioned Burt Ward they had Frank Zappa, Dennis Hopper and David Nelson do shoots as well. BTW - looking at that page....I always loved that cover with Kelly Nichols and her tongue - oooch, she was hot!
