Have you ever wondered why some of the world's most beautiful women do hardcore porn? Soft core I can understand. I knew girls in college that did nude pictorials for magazines for extra cash.

But some absolutely gorgeous women are doing porn now, and they could easily have mainstream modeling careers for fashion designers, television and movies, runway modeling, and so much more.

Why do you think they do porn besides for the sex and money? I am thinking of a few models I like, and they could easily be multi-millionaires like Karlie Kloss, Kate Moss, and others that don't do porn.

What do you think?

Just curious.

Actually I assume it´s less for the sex and rather for the money.

they do it for the sex mostly, the money is important but not as important as the sex because if they could be a model and get paid more then why not do modeling instead because modeling doesn't have sex. i've heard a porn performer say when asked why she does porn, she loves sex so why not get paid for something she loves doing?

You guys are right! It has to be the sex. They really don't make a lot of money, and one time former porn star Mabel May said in an interview "I am going to be doing it anyway, so why not get paid..."

I thought it was economic, but after an exhaustive research, the average female porn star makes $45,000 a year. After expenses, it's not that much money. Obviously there are exceptions, so let's not start an argument!

I have my Masters in Sociology, so things like this get me asking questions.

It has to be the sex, and some girls just like stuff extreme and crazy, and some just like normal average vanilla sex. They may be enticed by money to do more, but I bet it's more out of curiosity rather than money.

Lot's of young women have a mental illness called Hyper Sexuality Disorder.

"Lot's of young women have a mental illness called hyper sexuality disorder"

That sounds like BS to me. More likely some brand of psychobabble for what used to be termed 'nymphomania' I thought we'd got over that kind of thinking.

This thread strikes me as rather patronising and silly.

^^ "I am going to be doing it anyway, so why not get paid..."

For me this is a clear statement for the money. Otherwise she would keep her sex life in privacy.

We can agree to disagree. As a Sociologist, I can tell you it's real, and it explains why so many young women, 10,000 a year, go to Hollywood and places in Europe to specifically fuck on camera. Having sex on camera, even soft core takes an amount of Exhibitionist Personality, and Hyper-sexuality.

How else would you explain a young woman in particular willing to fuck six days a week on camera for maybe $1000-$3000 per scene? After taxes, expenses, and agent fees, it's not a lot of money. Why do you think all of the female porn stars are begging for money on Twitter and Onlyfans? Stacy Cruz has done 85 films in less than three years. A Hollywood actress would have made a hundred million dollars for 85 films! Stacy may have made $300,000 at most.

There was an article where a young woman did 80 porn films and made $80,000. After all of her expenses, she cleared $2000 and went home to her parents.

I am justifying to get an idea why they do it. It has to be for the attention and sex, because most of them are broke during this pandemic.

Being a sociologist in itself doesn't establish credibility. It's not as if there isn't a precedent of well known people of science making assertions that were demonstrably untrue or assertions that showed only a coincidence but not a correlation.

Is there a specific reason why you are trying to draw an equivalent to a Hollywood actress? Do you have a statistic showing a majority of porn actresses turned to porn because their Hollywood aspirations didn't quite work out? $300k for 3 years work is still significantly higher than the average wage in the US. Hell, $45k a year is a decent salary for a job that doesn't call for a university/professional qualification or years of experience.

I think "attention and sex" are a bit of a oversimplification. For a self-professed sociologist, you haven't addressed the uncomfortable reality that porn is extremely career-limiting as societal attitudes to sex workers make it difficult to find work offering comparable salaries elsewhere and in the current pandemic, high unemployment rates are going to make alternative employment even more competitive.

My view is that you're just trying to find evidence that seems to affirm your theory instead of considering other factors. Frankly, your assertions sound remarkably closed minded as though hypersexuality is the only reason. A high sex drive might be the reason for some women, some women like the money that may be difficult to earn otherwise. I'm sure there are many more reasons than just those two but for a sociologist, it strikes me as odd that you would put porn actresses into just one silo as if you can't recognize individuals in a group of people with some shared traits.

You have some valid points. I am just gathering preliminary opinion here. I have not applied any research methodology yet. I am pursuing my Ph.D. I have come to this site to share my interests in pornography for my own entertainment value, but also to delve deeper into the societal reasons why women do porn for a living. I am going to interview at least 100 subjects before publishing anything! I will do analysis of variance computations comparing control group a and b etc... Believe me, this is just a tiny beginning to a three year long study for my Ph.D. I want to compare supermodels, and mainstream actresses incomes, and porn models incomes. I want to also do a study on the perceived attractiveness of a supermodel over a porn star. Some porn stars, hard and soft, are incredibly beautiful and they compare aesthetically to many well know super models. I also want to find out what makes a porn star decide what sex acts she is going to perform. Why do some stay soft. Why do some go hard, and why do some go extreme. This study will involve a few social scientists. This thread is just to get a starting point for what people think.

I don't think there are many female porn performers that could be mainstream runway models. One that comes to mind currently is Elena Koshka. She has both the right type of body and the right type of face. Among the currently active, there are probably a few others that aren't coming to mind at the moment. But the vast majority simply don't have the right body type and facial features. That's not saying they aren't good looking, just that there is a particular look that seems to be desired for the very top level fashion models.

Of course, there is a whole world of modeling outside of that elite group of celebrity runway models. But I don't know how well that sort of thing pays.

Over the years, I've also seen some performers show up in the industry where I wondered why they didn't try for other types of media careers. I'm not necessarily talking about mainstream acting, though that is possible. But think about all the shows on all the different cable channels where they need attractive people in front of the camera. Anyway, that's just something I've wondered about at times with certain female performers.
