I would really be interested in becoming a reviewer of either adult DVD or VHS releases, though I am unsure of how to go about becoming an independant reviewer.
I know I am based in the Uk, but I'm sure that this wouldn't be much of a pronlem, would it??
If anyone has any ideas, then I would really appreciate it.

If you click on "Write a Review" in the left hand column, there are a couple of links and some information on that page. One of the links give some tentative formats and there are some helpful suggestions on the page.
And no, being in the UK, or anywhere in the world for that matter, wouldn't be a problem as long as you can get into the ADT site.
Steph said you don't have to be ShakeSpeak to write a review, just express your opinions. She also suggested reading other reviews posted to get some ideas.
DenverDon hit it right on the bullseye... We definitely welcome consumer reviews and don't require any sort of credentials or application process. Just click on Write a Review link on the left menu bar and follow the instructions.
"Independent reviewer" means simply that the reviewer is not representing any store or studio and does not receive compensation for the review. That pretty much means the porn consumer is the typical reviewer. Hopefully that yields more honest and unbiased reviews.

SQUID--I think many of us here would love to see more reviews of Euro porn (if that's the way you're leaning). FacIan & Charlie have been doing a great job (if I forgot any other Euro reviewers, my apologies) but more input would be greatly appreciated. I mention this because I'm really serious about getting a PAL/NTSC conversion player (probably a Malata) so I can get my hands on some nasty German porn! ---menace

I own two DVD players from Philips, the one I just got plays every single disc I own, with the exception of two.
It played discs that wouldn't play in my Zenith. So I recommend any Philips or Sony players. Both of the Philips DVD players have PAL/NTSC options, but I believe you still need a multifunction TV.

Mike--trouble is here in the US our dvd players only put out NTSC (for our NTSC tv's). Most of the rest of the world have dvd players that can take either PAL or NTSC & output to their PAL tv's. The folks at DvdTalk just rave about Malata. Other options are Daewoo (would not trust them), Sampo or Apex. I see Malata has a model now that is comparable to the Sampo in price-it lacks progressive scan & the ability to adjust for a wide screen PAL picture. But, since I don't have HDTV & not too many porns are in wide screen-this may be the one. It sells for $169 compared to $279 for the Malata 520-their top model. Anyone have experience with Malata?

This thread is drifting off course from the original thought, however I couldn’t help throwing another two cents into the pond.
Most Americans don’t realize how lucky, pampered, (or cut-off they are depending on where you live) with the systems that are out there in the world.
So far the wandering discussions have talked about NTSC and PAL, but there are a lot more out there that in the world-wide community have to be dealt with. NTSC actually has two formats, but I can’t remember the exact definitions for them. PAL, also falls under the dual label of PAL/SECAM, and although several have referred to PAL, no one has mentioned SECAM.
Where I used to reside, we could buy systems that would scan whatever you threw at it and try to decipher among 14, 18, and even up to 22 different systems in order to play the correct image. If you bought a single format system, you were an idiot. (And this had nothing to do with the difference between VHS and DVD

I bought the Philips at best buy for $160, it has an option for PAL output, NTSC output, and Multi. I don't own any PAL DVDs and don't have a multi function TV, but there is an option in the menu for all three formats (for specs on this it's model# : DVD724AT).
Though that's not the reason I bought it. I bought it because my parents own a Philips DVD player and it played a few DVDs that wouldn't play in my Zenith. Plus, like I said, it plays every DVD, except the end of one, in it. Which my Zenith just didn't do. So to get back on track...
to review DVDs it was essential that I have a DVD player that plays every DVD I have. It doesn't matter about the brand, as long as it plays, and be sure that you are honest in your reviews.
When I was over at best buy, I saw a great 60", $14,000.00!!! Plasma display television.

I guess this did drift a little. I was just responding to potential reviews by SquidMonkey & mentioned PAL standard. Anyhoo, just one more post on the subject. I looked at the Phillips at BestBuy website. I would not be sure it really has a PAL to NTSC converter built in. Too late to go there & check it now. I suspect it'll play PAL (if you have a PAL or Multi-monitor to play it on). If it indeed has the converter, plus progressive scan, it's a real good deal. I think SECAM is pretty limited (France maybe?). Some of you guys that are more expert, like Gay Satyr or Bill Broderick could shed more light on this. If we take this further, someone can start a new thread (or bring the old one back up that GS linked)-that's all--menace
Saki, I'm willing to review anything from anywhere, be it american, european or whatever. I'm also willing to review VHS so that answers Emahevuls question. (I will contact you mate) as well as Wally's.
Basically I'm willing tom write an unbiased review on the whole package. Be it comments on the directing, camera work, actresses and actors etc etc. But hopefully I will do this in an entertaining way, and add my own sense of humour into the mix, to make the reviews both relaiable and entertaining.

Many DVD players can output to PAL now... I bought this cheap ass almost portable on by Koss at Target and it has an option for PAL. With a PAL compatible TV, you would be all set!
