Beefcake is a strange mixture of a serious documentary, and a campy re-enactment of the rise of the Athletic Model Guild.

It's sometimes funny, but ends up being a bit depressing. There's lots of cock (though, I would have preferred more ) and a heck of a whole lot of hunky men parading around in little itty bitty posing straps.

the acting can be pretty bad, but is generally passable. theres a commentary track from the director (which i havent listened to yet), but the real treasure in the bonus materials are the 6 or 7 short films made by the amg back in their hey day. theres no sex, and none of the models actually touch each others cocks, and a few of the shorts dont even have any nudity. but strangely, they are still pretty darn erotic. my fave is a fairly long one of a sailor slowing stripping out of his uniform and lounging around by a small pool of water. i can just picture guys in the 1950s jackin off to this sort of thing.

This is Joe, and this shot is from one of the bonus movies included. In it, he does some shadow boxing, and his weiner flops around quite a bit! They actually interview Joe for the documentary portion of this flick, and boy, I gotta tell ya, time has not been good to this guy. Same goes for Jack LaLanne. Anyway, it's a pretty good flick. Like I said, it's not going to win any acting awards, but it is still pretty entertaining.
