As I'd noted, Seeing Bella on PrimeTime Live led to a resurgence in my own interest in the topic--not from the show itself, but from the excellent sites I discovered--this among them-- while trying to find out what the show missed. As a result, I'm more open-minded to some themes I thought I'd never consider, but I'm also a lot pickier. People have often observed that what sells depends on the market -- so as part of that market, I make it a point to support distributors, directors and performers who demonstrate concern for their product and for those they work with, including themselves. For example, I would never buy Bella's prison gang-bang movie because it shows her being traumatized for real after having felt pressured into it for real--Bella stated this not only to PT but to trade interviewers afterward. I personally will be uninterested in anything this distributor or director has to offer, at least until they change their approach. While both may have been well within their legal rights, this was still wrong. On the other hand, I do hope to see her in Fashionitas. While this film is also controversial, it is clear that the distributor and director weren't preying on real-life naivete (Bella's or anyone else's). That the distributor is regarded, even by Luke Ford, as being among the most ethical in the industry should give it a tremendous advantage in the market--which is us. The more that consumers' choices translate into a destroy-and-discard mentality, the more that Dr. Koop appears right in saying consumers "don't care" about performers and even "despise" them. From what I've read, most consumers don't feel this way. Let's act like it.
