Belladonna: My Ass Is Haunted – Severely Censored by the BBFC

From the BBFC’s (British Board of Film ‘Classification’ (in realty, Censorship)) site:

Belladonna: My Ass Is Haunted

When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 139m 43s. To obtain this category cuts of 28m 46s were required., some or all of these cuts were substitutions. The cuts were Compulsory. Cuts required to abusive and potentially harmful activity (in this case aggressive forcing of an oversized butt plug into woman's mouth and anus); a reference to underage sex; and to blasphemous activity (in this case insertion of crucifix-shaped dildos into anus and vagina of women role-playing as nuns). Cuts made in accordance with BBFC policy and Guidelines and the Blasphemy Act 1698.

Just what is so bad about this title that it received such severe censorship? The answer, I assume (as it is a US title), is nothing – it is just the latest example of a consensual adult film being ‘cut to shreds’ by the BBFC; just have a look at their website www.bbfc.co.uk, and search through the ‘recent decisions’, for the R18 certificate titles for information on what they are censoring. To make things worse, they do not require distributors to declare if they have pre-censored a title, so just because it is ‘uncut’ by the BBFC, it does not mean it is uncensored.

I wonder if the people who buy R18 titles realise jut how censored they may be? In fact, they have censored 85 out of 307 R18 titles ‘classified’ so far this year, that’s nearly 30%. It seems, if anything, they have become even more censorial since the release of their new guidelines, earlier this year – so much for progress!!!

There is quite along list of things they won't allow in an R18, it's not a case of 'anything goes' like in the US. Anything appearing to be forced and references to children are totally out. Most films aren't cut that badly though.

This site lists cuts made to all films as well as lots of user comments and news on the subject.

If you're not happy about this situation (and the extortionate price of DVDs over here) you can always importing from the US.

There was an interesting porno a year or so ago where that was not wuite the case. The film in question featured a guy on the recieving end of some rather rough treatment from a woman. The BBFC stated that had the situation been reversed the scene would indeed have been cut but that in their view there was less risk to the public (that's us daft zombie-faced fuckers who need their guiding hand) from watching a guy getting a heavily dominated than from watching a woman getting heavily dominated. I can actually see some common sense in this, and yet in just about every other spere common-sense has been forced to yield to political correctness and forced equality so why should the BBFC be allowed to get away with it??

I have never, and from the looks of things, will never buy an R18 - as you say, invariably expensive, as well as being quite often censored. The problem, however, is two-fold IMO

Firstly, I fundamentally believe that it is wrong for someone, in this instance the BBFC, to dictate what consensual adult material another adult, who freely chooses do to so in the supposed privacy of their own home, can watch.

Secondly, from a more practical and perhaps selfish point of view, when I import uncensored material, I run the risk of having it seized by Customs, because they use BBFC guidelines in determining what to allow through, thus losing my money and the items themselves.

The audio is frequently scrambled on the "blasphemous" portion of the U.S. edition of the DVD. Does anyone have an uncensored version?

I am sad enough to have played the sound backwards to hear what it said. Stuff about fucking Jesus. It was quite spooky.

The Fashionistas was censored as badly. This is a very highly acclaimed film by a director who many people would say is the greatest in porn. An epic in every sense. Now made into a Las Vegas stage show. So can i ceck this out. NO because my government has decided they aren't going to allow me. How fucked up is that?

The version you see with the backward audio is the ONLY version made. Evil Angel deemed it fit to have it that way due to legal reasons. I support/follow their choices and recommendations.

And its nice to hear that your guys governments/censorship laws are just as fucked up if not worse than Americas. I thought we had it bad, I was wrong.

This movie was released November 17, 2004. That means that at the time we were preparing it for release, the presidential elections hadn't happened yet.
The Extreme case was also still going on at that time, and there are certain things that seemed not worth the risk or hassle at the time.

I am so drunk right now, it is not even right. Every single movie I have ever filmed, over 160 movies, has been edired, to where the majority of my favorite sex acts, have been edited out.
I am a proud American. I am proud as a peacock.
However, I want to release in America, 100 percent Kerkove with no restrictions. I know longer even care about the money.
I do not know BellaDonna or her husband Aiden, I have never even met their blasckend hearts!
However, the Goddam distributors, have to be nervous, because all of the Cock sucking heathens who are catholics, Mormans and Goddam Christians, want an obscenity charge for us pornographers, praticing our art, our expression, our Liberty.
I feel confident in my old age, if it was up to Bella and Sassy Aiden, you would see all of the "Prime Beef" those 2 outlaws of love filmed! Tens and thousands of dollars, would indeed be lost, if Evil Angel, would be the
Maverick, that I am, and release pure hardcore throughout the U.S.A.!!! The bottom line is: The numbers and price per unit!
I released Sodomy.. Law of the Land, for the many fans like myself! Who appreciate a little bit of no no's in todays pussy footing standards.
I would imagine, everything that is missing from a BellaDonna DVD, will be on her website.! Fuck it! Spend the money, join her site, I probaly would join her website also, however, I have 5 children, not 1!!! SoI need to manage my money carefully, so I can leave each of them a house, that is free and clear when I am dead, which, by the way, is not that far along.!
So for the Good of God and I am a mother fuckin Heathen! Lets support Bella, she is a new mommy!
Lets support Aiden a new husband, father and director and lets support Evil Angel and John Stagliano! After all in June of 2000 at the Las Vegas, Nevada 2000, show John asked asked me, in front of Bridgette:the chopsticks? the crazy anal, where does it all come from? Bridgette responded: he has been that way, since the day I met him. I told John, my mind never shuts down. John, the God of Gods when it comes to Gonzo sex, told me he jacked off to mine and Bridgettes scene, he saw in Amsterdamn. To this day, that is still, my number one compliment in porn. Second was Jim Powers giving me a compliment in front of Audrey and Otto, regarding my camera work.
After Chivas Regal, Kessler Whiskey and plenty of beer, I have spoken all of the nonsense, a father of 5
should speak! God Bless your blackend hearts and Please buy plenty of Bellas movies. If you are going to spend your hard earned money on porn, give it to BellaDonna, the outlaw renegade from Utah! She has a new baby! Help them have a better life!
My Ass is Haunted, without a doubt, is one of the best titles ever, in the history of porn, it insists, that you look at the box cover, then the back, then buy the DVD!
Now, to answer some other questions! Does a girl taking a baseballl bat in the ass, and 2 of the biggest black guys in the ass at the same time, make for an easier, delievery? Bridgettes answer was no in 1999.
I assume it is the same in 2005!
Skeeter Kerkove "Dark French roast coffee and a winston in the morning, thats a love story! Anyhow, buy the Belladonna DVD, my ass is haunted. This movie, will not let you down, do not fear the white devil. Yea, though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no girl who does not desore to be "Sodomized", in time she will, unless, her ass is haunted! <A href='http://www.bridgettekerkove.com' target=_blank this should create responses! You still using the machine that Max gave you Skeeter?

Struan - I hear what you're saying but at least we have something of the original shoot in cases where R18 classified films are censored. Think back to a few years ago when you wouldn't have been able to find such films legitimately at all in the UK.

Yes, we do sometimes get censored films that are much more expensive to buy than they are in the States, but I for one am glad that we do have the option to buy sometimes censored films in our licensed shops nowadays rather than still not having that option at all. What you also neglect to mention is that alot of films that receive R18 classification are passed without any cuts at all.

As I've told you before, now that I'm shopping for my porn outside the UK I won't be buying a great deal of R18 titles in the UK anymore. However, for all our fellow Brits who don't know about the distinct advantages of buying abroad - AT LEAST THEY'VE NOW GOT SOMETHING TO FLICK THEIR SWITCH. Don't forget also Struan that the advent of licensed shops/R18 films in the UK has opened up the porn market to a hell of a lot more people than before.

Lastly, with R18 titles being sold in our licensed shops - at least the producers/performers etc. are going to get their slice/share of royalties for each R18 disc that is sold in the UK. What did we have before? Unlicensed shops selling what were mostly bootleg copies. Can't imagine that those associated with the production of porn flicks were seeing much in the way of their deserved cut here, can you?

And it's not always easy to know what those things are, creatively or legally.

Last month we shot a lovely little lesbian scene. The first Tina had a 30 minute orgasm, recovered, then bound Jenn's wrists behind her back and proceeded to fuck her with fingers, vibrator and a dildo.

[ invalid url ] is barely r-rated, but the rest of the footage being depicted could get me hauled into court.

Would my tender little film about Tina and Jenn's sexual joy be found to be obscene? There's no way to know without a trial. Is it worth taking the chance? Well I suppose that depends on how committed I am to the idea of "real people, real life, real sex".

+1 for having at least R18's. A few years ago the box cover was obscene (even the front)

I was going to post something relevant but I'm too exhausted after reading Skeeter's post.

+1 on Apa's comment though, at least we can buy this stuff over here legally.

Frankly, although you are perfectly entitled to do so, I find it surprising that you are so vociferous in defence of censorship of consensual adult material, particularly by using a comparison to the situation prior to 2000 - I am well aware that the situation is substantially better now than it was, and that is, of course, to be welcomed, but that is no excuse for continuing censorship of such material, IMO.

“Think back to a few years ago when you wouldn't have been able to find such films legitimately at all in the UK.”

AFAIK, It was not, and is not, illegal to purchase, or own, uncensored material within the UK. AFAIK, It was, and still is, illegal to ‘distribute’ such material i.e. sell, give away, show to another person, and import.

As for neglecting to mention that ‘a lot of films that receive R18 classification are passed without any cuts at all’, given that I clearly stated the actual numbers of films (85 out of 307), as well as the approximate percentage of those that are censored, I didn’t think it was really necessary to state the percentage that are ‘uncensored’. I say ‘uncensored’ because, as already stated, uncut by the BBFC doesn’t necessarily mean uncensored.

“… but I for one am glad that we do have the option to buy sometimes censored films in our licensed shops nowadays rather than still not having that option at all”

It is only an option for some people, given the relatively small number of licensed sex shops. As it happens, I am one of those who do not have access to such an establishment, though I freely admit that I wouldn’t use it even if I did. Of course, if R18 mail order were not prohibited, then this option would be available to many people, but it is, something that positively encourages importation, to the detriment of licensed sex shops. If you are so concerned with supporting them, as witnessed by your references to them as, seemingly, some form of justification for censorship, perhaps you should reconsider your decision to purchase most of your material outside of the UK?
BTW, I wonder just how many of the people who do purchase R18 think that they are always getting uncensored material?

Finally, as you, apparently, seem happy to accept such censorship, and remembering that I am talking about consensual adult material, why do you believe it is justified?

If you read my post properly Struan there's nothing in it to suggest that I am 'vociferous in the defence of BBFC censorship'. Rather, from reading this post and earlier posts by you in the International Shopping section of the ADT forum, I would suggest that BBFC censorship is something which you seem unnataturally obsessed with.
Frankly Struan I couldn't give a damn if what I buy in the UK shops is censored or not. If it is then I still get to see a major part of what I want to see. If I'm one of those people who want to see more then I go and buy a Euro release.
Didn't I say in my post Struan - as I've told you before - that I don't intend to buy a great deal of R18s anymore now that I'm buying abroad?

I tell you what Struan. If you're so bloody upset about the situation as it stands why don't you do something about it rather than harp on about it in this forum. Set up a webpage or something extolling the evils of BBFC censorship and how you don't have to put up with this 'evil' if you have a problem with it. At the end of the day I'm sure that a lot of people who buy R18s in the UK sex shops are very happy with what they're getting. If not, as happened recently with myself, they'll start looking on the internet and BANG, before too long they'll appreciate that there's a lot more purchasing options (outside the UK) out there.

PS I'm not going to get into anymore of a tit-for-tat with you. I've said all I'm going to say on this now. Ciao.

@Another porn addict

What is your problem?

I made a post entitled “Belladonna: My Ass Is Haunted – BBFC Censorship”, which, unsurprisingly, dealt with BBFC censorship, detailing a recent example. Given the nature of this website, and the fact that the moderators did not remove it, I assume that such a post is perfectly legitimate, despite what you may think about it. This post contained factual information along with my own, subjective, views on the subject. You then chose to reply to the thread, seemingly questioning my post/attacking my views, with what largely seemed like irrelevant information. However, I gave you the benefit of the doubt, and assumed that your reply was actually relevant to the OP. With this in mind, I then responded to a number of the points you made, which seems to have upset you further. Is this because my views differ from your own or that I had the ‘temerity’ to question your replies to my OP?

“If you read my post properly Struan there's nothing in it to suggest that I am 'vociferous in the defence of BBFC censorship'.”

Given that my OP was about BBFC censorship, then why did you bother replying, in the way that you did?

Struan said
"If you are so concerned with supporting them, as witnessed by your references to them as, seemingly, some form of justification for censorship, perhaps you should reconsider your decision to purchase most of your material outside of the UK?"

Another porn addict replied:
“Didn't I say in my post Struan - as I've told you before - that I don't intend to buy a great deal of R18s anymore now that I'm buying abroad?”

Did you actually read the point that you quoted from my OP, or did you not understand it? It clearly says “…, perhaps you should reconsider your decision to purchase most of your material OUTSIDE of the UK?”
In what way does this suggest that I didn’t understand that you would be buying from abroad? As you seem to have missed the point entirely, I will try to simplify it further i.e. I was alluding to the apparent hypocritical contradiction of you extolling the virtues of R18, and UK suppliers etc., yet, in the same breath, saying that you won’t be buying many R18s because you will be purchasing from abroad – A case of ‘do as I say, not as I do’?

“Rather, from reading this post and earlier posts by you in the International Shopping section of the ADT forum, I would suggest that BBFC censorship is something which you seem unnataturally obsessed with”

The posts to which you refer, mentioned BBFC censorship, along with many other points, in a thread that dealt with a wide range of subjects – I would suggest that my replies were perfectly reasonable and relevant. I would further suggest that these, or any of my other posts, do not preclude me from dealing with, and expanding upon, subjects which I may have mentioned before, particularly when there is new information, or more in-depth discussion etc.
BTW, Why should you dictate what I can and can’t post, when it is, AFAIK, perfectly relevant to this site? If you don’t like it, don’t read it. I could just as easily suggest that you seem 'unnaturally obsessed' with attacking my views.

“I tell you what Struan. If you're so bloody upset about the situation as it stands why don't you do something about it rather than harp on about it in this forum”

I am, by posting information in this forum and on other sites, so that people are aware of the situation, and can then make up their own minds about it.

“PS I'm not going to get into anymore of a tit-for-tat with you. I've said all I'm going to say on this now. Ciao.”

Given that you seem to spend your time attacking me/my views, then getting angry when I respond to or question what you have written, then I’m glad to hear it.

OK, I have been looking at the Blasphemy Act 1698 and I can't find any mention of crucifix shaped dildo's or even movies.
It also mentions that you have to be educated in or having made profession of the Christian religion, and later jurisprudention has made it clear that with Christian religion only the church of England is meant, so was Belladonna raised anglican or is she a minister? Otherwise she can not have been blasphemous according to that law.
Technically any UK law which hasn't been revoked or overruled by a later law is still valid and legally relevant.

And if you're doing censorship on things consenting adults do or watch, why not use a 17th cenury law, there is no way the BBFC can be more ridiculous than it already is.
