I just got a new computer and I am curious about running some benchmarking programs while it is still "fresh" and not filled up will all kinds of bullshit like my computers tend to get. The main idea for me is to benchmark now so i have something down the road to compare to if things start acting funky/slow/whatever.
This is not something I have ever worried about or done before (aside from running 3dmark for graphics once or twice).
So I am looking for some free benchmarking programs that work for XP. If I could get more specific I would but it's new to me.
For instance I want to know that my ram is really running at 1066 in a way that is beyond my BIOS telling me so.
If you folks think this would be a waste of my time let me know that as well please.
Thanks.

If you've used 3dmark before, you might as well get PCMark. It's more of a global benchmarking suite for the pc.
