Bill  All-Star Member  5334 Posts 6/00 |  Posted - Jan 31 2003 : 6:51PMGiven that Buttman movies are always 2 hours and 17 minutes long, I have always assumed that John Stagliano first edits his movies for content and then does a final edit for time. I have also always assumed that this edit always eliminated footage to get down to 2:17, rather than adding footage to get up to 2:17 (I think that this assumption has basically been confirmed by the quality of the bonus footage that is always included on Buttman movies). A while ago, I asked Tricia if there was a possibility of "director's cuts" of future Buttman movies where he would put the "content" cut onto DVD and do the final "time" edit for VHS. I don't remember what the answer was at the time. Well..."Buttman's Bend Over Babes 6" was released today. Like always, the VHS version is 2 hours 17 minutes long. However, the DVD has a banner across the top of the cover reading "Special Edition Extended Cut" and length of the movis is listed at 2 hours 37 minutes . On top of that there is still an additional 30 minutes of Behind the scenes and extra sex footage. Much thanks to John Stagliano and Tricia Devereaux (who I'm sure had a hand in this decision) for continuing to do DVD the way DVD is supposed to be done. Edited by - Bill on Jan 31 2003  [Link] |

[Though competitors are starting to catch on]. I think part of it might be that its stable of directors, for the most part, come from careers as adult performers at a time when adult movies were still movies , and certain aesthetic issues still came into play. Before video cheapened everything up. They certainly are classy productions: The "front page" of recent John Leslie DVD titles have been especially slick, and more creative than a lot of mainstream DVD titles I've seen. Elegant Angel seems now to be making an honest effort. "Big Bottom Sadie (V 2.0)" has something like an hour-plus "making of" docu. And though I'm still processing it (and, boy, is there a lot of process!] , "Mason's Dirty Trixxx 2" may have the most extensive commentary track I've yet heard on an adult DVD (though I haven't encountered many). It really adds a lot to the viewing experience, especially given the hard-edged themes explored by Mason and her frighteningly fearless cast. [Glad to know Julie Night felt she was in such good hands! No pun intended ] OK ... I've rambled on and off-topic, so forgive me if I've commandeered too much bandwidth, but I think that covers it for me!

That is why they solicited the opinions of myself and Mike Lyons, as well as asking for more views here. They have already, in just over a month, made upgrades. They use a better mastering company and the new Seduction has multiple chapters per scene, in addition to behind the scenes footage. The good things we see from the Angels and also from RLD, DVSX, and eventually from Anabolic are in many ways the result of people on ADT speaking their minds, and the companies listening. I understand this is also true of Wicked, but I'm not familiar with their recent product, so I can't comment for sure, but I am certain that ADT is making a difference with a segment of the industry. I also think Evil Angel knows how important it is to release movies simultaneously. I just know Tricia is a big reason why their DVD department is the best. [Link] |
