Hey all, I was just thinking of this term and the classic era films they refer to.
Essentially a films from the 70s or early to mid 80s that has little narrative and strings together a number of self-contained scenes, sometimes literally loops that were made at another time but for our purposes here I'm going to expand the definition to any film in that style.
Often dismissed by many classic-era fans but when done right they can be entertaining and hot, what would be your pick for a good loop-carrier?
Certain films like The Afternoons of Pamela Mann and Odyssey could almost be considered part of this subgenre but both films manage to have their scenes tie in thematically and to a degree plotwise so well that they seem a bit beyond it to me.
I'm going to go with a real left field choice and mention Ray Dennis Steckler's Indian Lady. Most of the loops in this are surprisingly hot and the paper thin 'storyline' stringing them together is camp heaven. Steckler's sex films tend to be much better than his horror or exploitation films, although not 'good' by any usual standard they are often weird and campy enough to be enjoyable whereas many of his other films are far too boring or self-consciously 'wacky' for their own good (with the honourable exception of the immortal Arch Hall Jr. camp classic Wild Guitar).
