On personal level, this period was when I was in high school, with raging hormones and tons of free time to watch porn. The amount of porn that I watched in that time will never be replicated in my life. I don't have the time or desire anymore
And I gotta say - you think the 2010s was the best. I think the industry has dropped hard. Porn has gotten too nasty now. There's incest stuff, excessive spitting, bondage, double penetrations, gaping anuses, food, scat, etc.

Mid nineties and onwards are still great too for me, nostalgic. With the Babewatch series, Vivid and Wicked producing with bigger budgets, being dependant on VHS rentals. And stars like Jenna Jameson, Jenteal, Jill Kelly, Stephanie Swift, Taylor Hayes... And my euro fav Laure Sainclair. Exciting times

Some of the other Porn greats of the 2010s i think it was quite a rollercoaster of a decade until last 2-3 when it started to trend downhill but nonetheless i miss these performers working on a regular basis, and the 2020s has quite a bad start due to corona virus which has affected the porn industry dramatically i wonder how this decade will pan out.
The industry is trending downhill i do agree with that and the latter 2000s was really great stuff with Naomi Russell, Tory Lane, Eva Angelina, Julia Ann, Lisa Ann and Francesca Le holding the fort amongst debuting hot stars like Tori Black and Kagney Linn Karter shame the porn industry has been left in a major void after departure of so many talented individuals.
I also had in mind the likes of Annette Schwarz, Melisa Lauren, Sandra Romain, Hillary Scott, Lolly Badcock, Angel Long, Isabel Ice, Michelle Thorne, Kelly fuckin Wells, Audrey Hollander, Naudia Nice, Kimberly Kane, Sammie Rhodes, Sasha Grey, Bree Olsen, Nikki Nievez, Belladonna, Cassidey Rae and Rebecca Lord.

Vanessa Del Rio and Sharon Mitchell are at the top of the list. Candida Royalle and Annette Haven were enjoyable. The less known Andy Bellamy and Clea Carson were also fantastic. Ginger Lynn and Stacey Donvan came in at the end of the period.
For the male side, Eric Edwards, Jamie Gillis, John Leslie, and Bobby Astyr were all wonderful.

Top-loading VCRs were just hitting the market so that meant movies like Deep Throat started circulating to even a greater degree.
Two other actresses, Samantha Fox and Veronica Hart, were busy during a big chunk of those years and are my favorite performers.
I wrote a sort of overview of Veronica's career at the end of my Pandora's Mirror review and I would say that she appeared in many of the best films from that classic period.
Annette Haven also shows up in some top-notch productions.
1st, I'll start by stating porn looks better now than at any point in the past.
I started watching porn in the back half of the 70s. This was the theater era, so releases were limited. Hottest girls from the late 70s/early 80s were Abigail Clayton, Pia Snow, & Nancy Suiter. Problem with the last 2 mentioned is they appeared in just a few movies. I don't see this a candidate for best era. I will say there was some value in seeing porn shot on film.
As for the best decade, I'll mention a couple periods. First 1984 to 94. You get the advent of the VCR here. This period includes the Ginger Lynn era as well as Janine & Jenna Jameson. These were really profitable years for the industry & is reflected in the talent.
A 2nd candidate would be the period from roughly 2005 to 15. Here you get the best years of Jenna Haze, Tori Black, & Malena Morgan among many others. Don't think I appreciated this period as much as I should have.
I was enjoying the current era as well until the pandemic threw us for a loop. But, there may be light at the end of the tunnel.
my favourite era of porn period, i don't think anything else comes close to it, these girls launched porn into the stratosphere alongside other performers during that period, i wish i had appreciated it more living those years.

There was no social media, so it added a mystique to your favorite girls. In 2003 lots of dvds being released. Before the tube and piracy manwin money drain. Digital playground was ascending followed by Elegant for the 2nd half along with the internet sites Brazzers, BB, RK, et al. The era pretty much ended with the syphilis shutdown and the unavoidable revenue hits from the tube sites. There were some high points after 2013 like the HardX showcases but the industry as a whole is not producing like it used to. More recently it has been VR, the vixen sites, skinny teen look, onlyfans, and now covid. Who knows where it goes from here.
It's gotta be the most recent decade, 2010-2020, hands down! You all are some nostalgic mf'ers if you think otherwise.
High-speed internet and high-resolution cameras revolutionized porn. Now just the sheer quantity and variety of high-quality porn is amazing. When I think of the 90's and earlier I think of platinum blonde fake-titted women in poor lighting shot with a VHS camera. That started to change in the 2000s, and now there are just so many gorgeous natural girls of all skin colors, hair colors, sizes and shapes showing themselves in perfect detail. It's pretty amazing.
Also, the mainstreaming of porn in society has had a really positive effect on porn (if not society, I'm agnostic on that). Girls are exposed to porn at a young age now, and many grow up wanting to be porn stars. There are more girls thinking porn is a viable career choice than ever, which obviously improves the pool of talent. Lana Rhoades talked in a recent interview about knowing she wanted to be a pornstar from the time she was a young teenager. Now we have all these 18 year old girls trying to be social media stars by shooting videos of their pussies on their iphones. This is kind of an awesome phenomenon that was not happening a decade ago.
More and better-looking girls are making porn than ever before. Really hot girls are doing more extreme things (anal and even dp's are ubiquitous in mainstream porn now), whereas in the past, it seemed like you could have attractive actresses or non-vanilla action, but not both in the same film.

I agree much of what you said. Still, I wouldn't dismiss the Golden Age. It was different, and it was special:
1) When porn was shot on film, and often had high-quality lighting and cinematography. As a viewer, the action was literally larger than life. The difference between film and video can't be ignored, and the remasters don't come close to doing justice to the best shot-on-film releases.
2) The spirit of the times was reflected in porn. Porn was outlaw and mainstream at the same time. It was still illegal in many jurisdictions, while also being part of the sexual revolution. The Golden Age overlaps with the rise of the Bathhouse scene in gay culture. I watched porn in mainstream theaters, and in college classes. I read newspaper articles about people being arrested, and bought these newspapers at the same newsstands that displayed hardcore magazine covers. This spirit was killed in the 80s by things like AIDS, the Traci Lords scandal, the Larry Flynt shooting, the rightward turn of the Reagan era, and the VHS.
That said, I fully agree that the quality of 4K is much better and VHS and that there are a lot more stone-cold hotties entering porn than ever before. I'm a tit-man and the big-boobed babes that stick in my memory from the Golden Age are Seka, Annie Sprinkle, Lisa De Leeuw, and Sue Nero. I can't even start to count the number of gorgeous big-natural babes are in the business right now.
In my perspective, porn films reached their height in the Golden Age, and the video age is coming to flower now.
