I know it sounds odd, but look at the store saturation for Distribpix's Blu-rays versus DVDs. Far more stores carry the DVDs than the Blu-rays. And then beyond all that there is the lack of home saturation still of Blu-ray capability. Some homes have Blu-ray players but don't have a TV that will display in full HD. Other homes are the opposite, have the full HD display but no Blu-ray player. And some have neither of the above. Which leaves the company with two choices. Either make two releases for each title, which raises cost due to having two sets of the product to sell, or one combo pack, which then raises the question of whether you will lose too many customers due to the increased cost to purchase the release. I know I prefer the combo packs since not all the rooms here have Blu-ray support. I also suspect sales are not great for the most part on the Blu-rays. If you look, many companies that supported Blu-ray at one point or another, like Wicked Pictures, seem to have ceased Blu-ray releases. In fact, looking through the Blu-ray release list, only LFP, Amorz, and Digital Playground seem to be doing "steady" Blu-ray releases with Digital Playground doing combo releases and LFP and Amorz doing separate releases. I understand the want for Blu-ray releases. It saddens me that only three classic titles have been made available. However, if the sales aren't there the increased cost isn't justified, and the releases won't come out. Maybe as more houses gain Blu-ray support this will change. I can't think of the last time I saw an HD video where my eyes weren't glued to the performers pimples, razor burns, bruises and what not that HD makes impossible to overlook and therefore make the scene nearly unwatchable or in some cases unwatchable. That's why I'm still in the camp of people who prefer their porn in a lower resolution than HD. |
