I have not seen Cherry 2, but anyone who thinks that Digital Playground provided any real heat or eroticism by foisting the original Cherry on unsuspecting g/g fans, must be doing drugs that are a lot stronger than any of the weed, acid, or booze that I've ever done. Was interested enough to buy Cherry in the summer of 2013, partly because of only having 2 other g/g blu-ray discs out of a 150+ disc g/g dvd/blu-ray collection. Boy, was I sorry for wasting good money on a piece of crap like Cherry. There was a promising scene, early in the movie, involving 2 hot looking blondes, who were finishing showering. But like the rest of the so called sex scenes in this flick, this sequence went no where and sure never developed any heat to speak of. And what's this BS with people praising Cherry for its so called story. Al Goldstein of Screw Magazine fame probably said it best: "The plot of a porn film is like the frame of a painting. But no one looks at the frame of a painting." I'd add that in the case of porn the sex scenes are the actual painting, and that's what people pay to see. About 10 years ago one of the hotel chains that offers porn to its guests came up with an interesting statistic. Hotel management could tell how long that each porn film ordered was actually kept on in a given room, and it was revealed that, typically, a guest watched a porn film for just 12 minutes. The guests sure weren't taking the time to absorb much plotting or even to stick around to see how the story turned out.. But at least the time they spent was almost as long as an average sex scene. Guess most customers didn't even need an entire fuck scene to get off. Porn historian Luke Ford has said that the best porn movie ever made isn't good enough to rank in the top twenty thousand movies that Hollywood has turned out. It baffles me how anyone whose intelligence is much higher than that of a cucumber could actually give a shit about the plot of a porn flick. I mean, is it any wonder that the popular gonzo category has totally done away with having even the pretense of a story. When watching g/g porn, an actual story is not important to me, but rather sometimes I like to see a couple minutes of 2 women talking together which leads to some kind of a half way (or better) realistic seduction. A sex scene shouldn't begin with the ladies naked or already in the act. I think that some kind of fairly brief lead up can make a scene a lot more erotic. But, getting back to Cherry, I really wanted to like the flick, especially it being only the 3rd g/g blu-ray for me to play on my 73 inch screen. But the film was so lame and lacking in erotic heat, that after the 2nd time watching the blu-ray part of the package, I just tossed the whole thing into the trash. And BTW, the so called acting in Cherry basically consisted of the main character's girlfriend whining that she wasn't receiving enough attention. Give me a fucking break. Really, I don't believe that anyone on this thread is actually dumb enough to really care about porn video plots that make soap operas seem like F. Scott Fitzgerald. A lot of people are just reluctant to admit that they just like to watch sex scenes, so they come up with this BS that they are interested in a story, because in their minds, this makes porno watching seem more legitimate. This is so 1970s, a time when so many claimed that they bought Playboy for the articles, rather than admit that their biggest interest was the centerfold and the nude pictorials. ^ The 2 g/g blu-rays are The Art of Kissing 3 by Viv Thomas and Girlvana 3 by Mike Quasar. AOK 3 has an absolutely killer scene of with two of the hottest Viv Thomas women: Nella and Jo. While viewing this scene you'd swear that these 2 women are in love. Nella and Jo engage in a lot of beautiful, full tongue on tongue French Kissing. And there is asshole licking. The women both have gorgeous bodies and it's simply a beautiful sight seeing them lying together as they make love on a couch. I must have viewed at least 1500 to 2000 g/g scenes since 1986, and if there's a g/g scene that is significantly more erotic than this Nella/Jo scene, I sure haven't seen it. Initially I bought AOK 3 on DVD, but because the DVD is letterboxed on all 4 sides, quality was not very good when using zoom on my HDTV to fill the screen. So I turned right around and ordered the blu-ray which fills your screen with a nice sharp 1080p image. I like Girlvana 3 because one of Mike Quasar's goals for the flick, which he mentioned in the behind the scenes feature, was to have plenty of French kissing between the women. There's also some nice tongue in the asshole action. Plus, the disc is another example of high def done right. Quasar sometimes puts out erotic duds, but you can almost always count on him for professional lighting and photography. There are some genuinely hot scenes, and there's a sizable cast of really attractive women, but compared to the natural look of Nella & Jo, most of these ladies really have the porn babe look, with obvious augmentation done to their bodies. The last scene on disc 1, though, features a cute young couple that just seem like a pair of pretty young girls, rather than porn performers. (they kiss nicely, too) BTW, disc one of Girlvana 3 is the Blondes, while disc two is the Brunettes disc. While, often, I prefer dark haired women in my porn, really think that the Blondes disc is the much hotter and more erotic of the 2, especially since there are no toys employed by the blondes. Finally, all I have left to say is that if anything happened to my copy of either AOK 3 or Girlvana 3, I'd reorder it in a heartbeat. But, Art Of Kissing 3 is the better choice if you're looking for straight up, pure, beautiful eroticism. Girlvana 3 has a greater number of good scenes, but none that can match the Nella/Jo classic on AOK 3. Have to admit, though, that the other scenes on AOK 3 are nothing special and don't reach the heat of a few of the scenes on Girlvana 3. Anyway, had a good time answering your question, but my wife is now yelling for me to come and eat, so, got to cut my gab short til some other time. Hope you get to see these flicks.

I repeat again what porn expert Luke Ford said "The best porn film ever made wouldn't even rank up in quality with even the top twenty thousand films Hollywood has put out. But Mr Ford was talking about hardcore porn. I've seen some softcore porn films that gave me no problem sitting through 90 minutes of story and scenes to arrive at a decent conclusion. But those films had 20 times the intelligence of garbage like "Cherry", and far better acting. And it's not that I have to get quick gratification like a 12 year old, but rather, at age 64, time is becoming too precious to waste any of it listening to the mumbling and whining of moronic characters that neither serves a point, or leads anywhere.
I pretty much agree with this, not just because of the high quality of production, but also because the films showed how anal play can successfully be incorporated into intense erotic lesbianism. VT has veered away from that since moving it's distribution to Girlfriends Films, but the two most recent films - Power Play and Roommate Obsession - may be indicative of a steer back to it. I have the Pink Velvet trilogy, and it's good. But some scenes, especially in the first video, suffer from poor lighting and photography that's simply inferior to some of Mr Thomas's later work. However, Unfaithful 5 with it's well lit, beautifully photographed scenes of Nella/Lisa and Jo/Eve Angel and Jo/Zafira, (especially the 2 extremely hot Jo/Eve Angel scenes) for just plain eroticism, easily blows away any of the scenes in the Pink Velvet trilogy, and the scenes are much more clear and vivid, to boot. (the final Nella/Lisa scene is also killer) Also, because the Unfaithful 5 DVD is enhanced for modern widescreen TVs (meaning no borders, the picture fills the screen without having to be blown up by using zoom) the DVD even looks absolutely amazing on our 80 inch screen. Too bad that's not the case with the PV trilogy.

BlackSix, I have all of the videos you listed from the Club 59 series of g/g DVDs, but the Club 59 video I like the best, by far, was also directed by the super talented Mason, and it's simply called Dani. Dani Daniels is incredible with each woman she has a tryst with in this great video feature. In the first scene Dani plays a call girl, dressed only in a black trench coat, who is seen walking into a luxury hotel on a sunny day. The most recent one in the upcoming Anikka vs. Kelsi showcase is really disappointing. Within a couple of minutes of the start of the scene, it was only toys (hate toys) with loud screaming from the performers. Completely fake and not authentic. The strongest g/g scene on the Hard X website is in the Remy showcase directed by William H with Remy and Mia Markova when William was at Hard X for a short period of time in late 2014 and early 2015. For Erotica X, Mason filmed 4 g/g scenes that were really good and similar to her work at Elegant Angel. However, no more g/g scenes have appeared on Erotica X directed by Mason since early 2014. Since Mason started up Dark X, she no longer films for Erotica X and James Avalon has taken over the directing duties.
You make a great point about the great g/g videos that Mason created for Elegant Angel. IMO, no other American making g/g has ever matched the combination of quality photography and editing, the terrific sexual performances Mason drew from her models, and the overall style of the better Club 59 productions that Mason created, that all added up to bringing about such a high level of eroticism. I have the DVDs of all of the titles you mentioned in your first paragraph, which were marketed on the Club 59 label from Elegant Angel. And I really think that the showcase for Dani Daniels that Mason made, simply entitled "Dani", is at the absolute pinnacle of the hottest, most erotic, creations, of woman with woman eroticism that's ever been available to those who appreciate women making love to women. "Dani" is simply a landmark masterpiece, IMO. And I've been following g/g hardcore since 1986.
