dont judge me. In my years of adult enntertainment exploration i have found certain cominations to be much better than others, and have wondered if i am alone in the wide variety of options i have tried. considerations are: glide/friction, viscosity, how long it holds up over time (necesity of repeated aplication), effect on skin (especially given heavy use), smell/after smell, residual taste, cost, ect. i dont mean to be too fuckin dorky here, but have wondered if perhaps i had arrived at the best combo available:
Cetaphil Cream (not the lotion, the cream-- comes in tub)
and... canola oil (sparingly)
the oil is only needed if the session is longer than, say, 10 min. And honestly, a clear plant oil like this is so much better than any type of massage/body oil if used in conjunction with the above.

I used to be a moderator over at The Fleshlight forums. This subject came up almost every day. I think the common consensus gave AstroGlide the vote for "best lubricant" but there were just as many who seemed to prefer the silicone-based lubricants as they didn't dry out the way water-based lubes do.

I've always preferred Astroglide. It works great for sex with a partner too.

Ultra Glide H2O by Body Action Products - water-based, no taste
Light and slick, but can get a bit tacky if you lull and it starts to dry. A drop of water (or pre-cum) and it's slick again. Minimal friction.
ForPlay Liquid by Trimensa - Palate-pleasing, water-based
Amazingly light and generates a more natural feel (not a thick, slick barrier between you and your hand or toy, so you get more friction, but in a good way), and it becomes highly watery as you keep going, but you don't need to add more. It has no heating properties, yet tends to become warm as you proceed, probably due to the friction. This is a nice change.
Sometimes things can be too slick and you don't get great sensations, and other times (like with oils) there's just too much friction and the nerves become over-stimulated and numb/desensitized over a long period. The above two products offer a great balance.
I also have a mixture of 1/2 Ultra Glide and 1/2 K-Y Warming Liquid which my girlfriend likes, but it's also great for self-enjoyment.
Oh, and just for sex sometimes, my girl likes Probe (Natural Citrus) by Davryan Labs. This stuff is crazy. It has a nice taste and she loves playing with it because it stretches and is sticky like cum. I'll try to drop some in my hand and then be left witha two-foot strand of liquid from my hand to the bottle. This stuff is super messy to work with, but I guess that's why she enjoys it so much.

Stroke 29 by Gun Oil. Formulated specifically for hand jobs, it has a creamy base and contains a hint of soft wax. It takes about 29 strokes to liquify it, but after that, the glide is long lasting. Washes off with soap and water.

Stroke 29 is excellent.
Another Gun Oil product I really like, one that's also specifically designed for masturbation, is Jack Jelly. Jack Jelly lasts longer than Stroke 29 and is less slippery, creating more friction; it gives you extra "purchase" on your cock. For me, Stroke 29 is better for a short masturbation session or a partner's hand job, and Jack Jelly is better for an extended masturbation session.

^^ Bob, I wasn't aware of that product. My shop doesn't carry it. Sounds like the perfect product for the job.

Pagoda,
Jack Jelly costs about half as much as Stroke 29. Unfortunately, its lackluster packaging makes it appear to be a down-scale item -- also, maybe, an item targeted to a primarily gay customer-base. That's a shame because a cock is a cock, whether the owner is gay or straight.
It's good stuff and your store really should carry it or, at least, sample it. Even if you don't purchase your stock of Stroke 29 directly from the Gun Oil Company, I'm sure your supplier carries Jack Jelly too.

Vasoline and baby oil by far. I like to stroke two handed for 2+ hours per session and vary the vasoline to bay oil ratio throughout. I use wet wipes to clean up and blow big tantric loads. Butter works good for shorter stroke sessions.

woah man. been down similar roads before. vasoline is definitly too viscous. i highly recomend cetaphil cream and clear veg oil if u goin the grocerystore route. joey star says "+1 spit" and i definitly agree, if more friction is needed... then if more slip add dot of oil.

I read on a forum that Palmer's cocoa butter in the little jar works well..it's the shit womem use to battle stretch marks. Well, I've tried it, and it's all I use now. Smells great, not to sticky, and it actually smooths out the big guy. I buy it at Target..about $2.50 a jar. Plus, if someone sees it laying around, you can just say you have a rough patch a skin you are moisturizing.
