I know that Private (along with Marc Dorcel) have reputations as the best euro porn on the market today. I love euro porn and wanted to know what are the BEST ALL-TIME films that both studios have put out in their history. I have heard that Private classics like PYRAMID, GIGOLO, and TATIANA are great. Any thoughts? Any other suggestions for someone new to the Private Studio Line? Same goes for the Marc Dorcel line. I know that the Laura Sainclair films are great. I also love Yasmine Lafitte's films as well. Any other suggestions?

And porn fans who don't like anal sex wouldn't have to fast-forward through the second half of each scene to avoid looking at the anal sex that they don't enjoy watching. And another thing Private could improve is the type of women in its films. Too many Private women are too much alike. They are all slim, trim, small-titted, white skinned, and almost no big asses. Which makes Private films unappealing for porn fans who like big tits, huge asses, and women of color.
Private has made some great stuff. I do prefer the stuff from 1997 to 2005 though. Before 97 the budget was just too low and the lighting and production was mediocre. After 2005-ish its started to look a lot like american porn and became less interesting (although there are still some gems). Marc Dorcel... I love the Russian Institute series. Would love to get some more recommendations.

Any Marc Dorcel movie with Clara Morgane. She's the queen. All though she is retired and didn't appear in that many movies, she it down right sexy. "Sex City" was iconic lol!!! I loved the music and how they put a twist on all the sex that could have happened in "Sin City" but never came to frutition. One of the best parodies of all-time. Loved Akon's "Locked up" instrumental background music during the Jessica Alba/charater's DP sex scene with the Mickey Rourke/character and Clive Owen/character. The rape scenes were very dark and disturbing but they were true to the dark theme of the flick so they enhanced its entertainment value; Jessica Alba/character was courageous as she swallowed her pride and that of her rapist/antagonist as well. "The Tower" was the first Private flick I ever saw. Loved the mystery-murderer angle of this joint. Russian Institute can't be beat. I haven't made it through all, so I don't know if they drop off, but the first three rock. Sex City is the best Private series. Also, there is a great Silvia Saint boxset collection that came out some years ago. Pretty much her Greatest Hits. I really enjoyed those too.
Dorcel's Pornochic Series is quite nice too. I'm glad that they're giving much attention to Jade Laroche. They just teamed her up with Julia Ann for Jade's latest effort, and it's a really good one.

I've purchased a few DVD of Mr. Dorcel only because the women are very attactive and hosiery.Don't think too much of the overused male talent. When you talk about euro porn, I think you need to throw Viv Thomas into the mix. I think he is the master of the camera when it comes to the way he captures scenes from different angles. Usually not, but I have seen good feature movies with a good story and good acting and it can really enhance a movie when it works. Instead of just people banging each other, there's more to it. Also, good comedies are a lot of fun. I've never really seen any of that in European porn, though, mainly due to the fact that most of the actors in Europorn can't speak English for shit. I have always known Private had lots of potential. In the days when I was renting tons of porn in the late 90s and early 2000s, I rented a few Private flicks and found that while the video quality was generally really good, they just weren't doing it for me. I have since seen some outstanding stuff by Private. But what I wonder is why it's so uneven? And what caused them to change so drastically after 2005? I too have a fondness for Private films from ten or 15 years ago. When I first encountered Private movies (starting with Pyramid, Tatiana, Gladiator) I thought I had found heaven. Incredibly beautiful women (without the emphasis on grotesque boob jobs so prevalent in American porn), tremendous production values and art design, sumptuous sets and settings, just a really great look to the movies. But, they rather quickly began to pall. Far too often, the sex scenes feel mechanical and formulaic, often lacking real heat (a failing exaggerated by the pervasive, passion-destroying practice of having the women stare at the camera, a poisonous factor I have lamented before). Each scene follows the same script, frequently with a feel of the performers phoning it in. Not always, of course; there are plenty of hot moments. But, too many scenes just seemed impersonal, perfunctory. One other somewhat annoying quality: I like feature films, and especially films in which the sex arises naturally from the plot, not just as an add-on. So many Private films are two or three movie extravaganzas when there is enough plot for one at the most. As a result, the sex gets thrown in as filler to stretch things out -- hot, but extraneous to the plot. So okay, most viewers just want the sex and don't much care how well it fits into the story; I'm just fussy (and a bit deranged) in this matter.
I think the problem with the sex in Europorn is that most of the girls are just there for the money. They look great, but they just want to go in, do their scene, get their cash and get the hell out. There's a few exceptions, of course, but most of them just don't seem like they want to be their at all. I still watch them, though!
I understand what you mean but I find it hard to fault the older ones so many have praised for these minor failings. They are so far and away above a lot of stuff that really isn't even worth the time to watch it. If only every pornographer put at least that much effort into his/her flicks. Maybe you're a great writer/conceptualist (In which case, you should be working for a porn company somewhere if you aren't already) but if you never have, you should try and write a really good sex story that doesn't get too bogged down with mundane plot details or too taken over by the plain mechanics and generalities of raunchy sex. It's not as easy as you might think. If you have a willing wife or a girlfriend and a decent camcorder, try making a sex tape that you would actually watch if you were someone else. It's very hard.
The Tower series is considered Private's best effort by many people. Unfortunately, the movies were edited for DVD, but they are still pretty good. Fashion has a great line up of beauties. The Amanda's Diary series is good if you're looking for sex that's a little on the softer side. Of course, there are the Private Life of.., compilations if you have a favorite actress. Pyramid, Sex City, Tatiana, Porn Wars, Gladiator, Cleopatra, Scottish Loveknot, Dangerous Things, Uranus Experiment, Reporter, and absolutely anything with Michelle Wild in it. They are also well known for various arousing stunts, like sex in public under the Eiffel Tower, in front of Ayers Rock, and on top on mountains. I think these scenes are all compiled in the "Sex in Dangerous Places" dvd. I always love how Private is prepared to throw a lot of money into their porn. It may not always have the most arousing sex scenes, but you got to respect the efforts in plot, clothing, settings and flash cars! For a long time I figured Private would be the first studio to lure a top mainstream actress (European, of course) into a big-budget porn movie. I am still waiting for that to happen. Marc Dorcel also makes expensive, pretty, porn - but the use of condoms does distract from the plot/fantasy a bit at times.
I used to love Private and Marc Dorcel when I was a horny teenager - that means I loved that style til 2002 when both companies went all glamour and high polish. Before that they used to have people who looked a bit more natural and the scenes were a lot hotter and energetic - the girls and boys in the scenes seemed to enjoy themsevels more and have more freedom on the set. Also the scenes were longer and less heavily edited and cut. After 2002 they started to do that glamour thing and from then on the scenes started to look as of the regisseur called "Cut" every 30 seconds and then a host of hairdressers and make-up artists move onto the set to remove every drop of sweat and airbrush every little bit of lube or body fluid. Both studios still have incredibly hot girls - also I love the expensive looking settings and the lingerie, but it seems as if the regisseurs have forgotten how to put some steamy and wild sex in between all the glamour.
