Glass (borosilicate, commonly referred to as Pyrex®) is an interesting and classy choice for sex toys. It's expensive, but worth it if you know what you want. The manufacturing process for glass is relatively eco-friendly, and the material itself is nontoxic. Some toys, especially jelly and cyberskin items, contain icky stuff like phthalates, which are potentially carcinogenic and have been linked to sperm damage in men. If your current toy happens to have a strong odor, I would gently recommend that you discontinue use and get something safer. Glass is harmless unless it becomes chipped or cracked. If that happens, you must discard it, although glass toys are a fair bit sturdier than you might expect.

You will want to keep in mind that glass is very rigid, which makes a small toy feel much bigger. I once had a five-inch-long rigid dildo that I was unable to insert fully during anal play, simply because it didn't follow the curve of my tailbone and thus was very uncomfortable. I would suggest that you get a butt plug instead. Then you will have a shorter and more manageable toy that you can pop in and out for a similar feel to the one you're using currently.

It's much easier to clean a glass toy than a rubber toy, since glass is nonporous. I usually just handwash mine with antibacterial soap, but you can also use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, bleach, boiling water (you must start at room temperature, or you risk breaking the glass), or a cycle through the dishwashing machine.

Although a tempered glass (really a ceramic) like Pyrex should be pretty shatter resistant if it only drops a couple of feet.

I actually prefer stainless steel to either glass or acrylic. Steel has a smooth texture similar to glass, without the concerns about breakage. I don't have to mess around with cooling or warming it—because metal is an excellent conductor, that butt plug quite naturally feels cooold when it goes in and hot when I finally take it out.

It's easier to have a toy custom-made in glass, however, and Clear Ecstasy did a good job making one for me.
