Hey folks, I am interested in hearing what your favourite shot-on-video (not digital video, but video cassette) features are. I think my absolute favourite that I have seen is CURSE OF THE CATWOMAN. Beautifully made by an expert videographer (John Leslie), and erotically charged throughout. (Interesting trivia fact: I was reading a Penthouse Letter the other day where the protagonist watches an unnamed porn film with his partner, and the scenes are described in detail. It was CURSE OF THE CATWOMAN!)
I liked Curse Of Catwoman so much that when I purchased it back in 1991 I rewound the tape and watched twice. Being the huge fan of Cecil Howard my all time favorite shot on video is Dangerous Stuff. The Catwoman is close second.A bunch of John Leslie's (R.I.P.)early stuff back in his VCA Picture days like his much underrated Hot Scalding which did receive Hustler's Highest Rating and The Chameleon.A lot Dark Brother videos.A really great video I watched never purchased was Gerard Damiano's Candy's Little Sister Sugar Ariel Knight turns in an outstanding acting performance.Getting back to my favorite director I loved Cecil Howard's four part series The Last X-Rated Movie.
I recently watched Cecil Howard's THE LAST X-RATED MOVIE (1990). It was four hours long, shot on video, and reflects a sort of bridge between the classic feature and the modern (or, at that time, emerging) gonzo film. Long sex scenes that are both narrativized and passionate/don't have a formulaic or edited feel, and narrative sequences that are fairly brief but attempt to do something creative. Overall, very impressive.
I've liked everything I've seen by Nic Andrew, especially BLOOD ANGELS 2. Recently I watched John Leslie's FRESH MEAT: A GHOST STORY. Terms like 'good' and 'bad' don't apply. It's one of the most unique and original X rated movies I've seen. It's essentially an absurdist piece of video art with some 8mm segments. I'd highly recommend it.

Leslie does seem to be the king of video features for me, Dog Walker, Catwoman and Chamleons: Not a Sequel are all sexy and fascinating. Only if that level of quality had been sustained in the video era.
I still don't know the title, since I saw it in a compilation. Randy Spears talked about his wife fucking other guys. During sex (on a bed) with a younger woman, another woman, possibly the wife, watched and masturbated outside. Probably a Wicked production, possibly Vivid.
I remember another unknown clip, from probably one of the first few tapes I bought. What I had on that tape was edited as just a gonzo scene, but it could have been from a feature. Her voice during fucking was one long undulating scream instead of many oh fuck yeahs. That set a vocal standard that no other porn has ever met. She is probably Latin, with long straight black hair.
Video. I hope that Vivid actually get around to a proper release of this on dvd/bluray. The current dvd was released right around the launch of the dvd format and like many of Vivid's early titles it looked and sounded like absolute garbage; worse than the VHS version. Plus it was heavily edited.
Cool Thread. Vivid's The Scarlett Mistress has an awesome scene between Randy West and Tori Welles. Speaking of John Leslie, Goin' Down Slow (reviewed by KW on this site ) features Dana Lynn looking awesome. Gail Force's XXX workout is a late-80's style workout/fuckfest featuring hot-bodied Blondi Bee Films like L'Amour, Girls on Fire, and All-American Girls 2: in Heat might be a bit early to qualify.
