Though warned many times, I didn’t listen and decided to give Adult DVD Empire Rentals a try, and am still regreting it.

My next billing date was until dec16, but I made the mistake of cancelling on dec14, without knowing they would apply it immediately and give me 10 days to return my out DVD’s.

Anyway, I mailed back the DVD’s on dec15, with plenty of time to arrive before dec24 (from FL to PA). 9 days later, they were finally removed from my rental list early dec24 (due date), but anyway on dec29 they still charged my credit card $20 for each DVD returned.

I’ve sent them several e-mails requesting a refund and an explanation, with no reply at all, so I was forced to dispute the charge with my bank.

So beware when cancelling the service, the returned DVD’s might as well not get there in time.

I have also had problems with ADE not returning emails. I have not had a single email replied to in the last six months. Granted that only covers about 4 attempts to contact them but it has been a problem. I stopped selling dvd's through them when I did not receive sales notices, customers received no replys from them when they complained because the dvd did not ship, and my attempts to contact them regarding the problems were never responded to.

I just upgraded my rental account and am very frustrated that they chose to ship me titles that were at the bottom of my priority list. Not a single title was shipped in my list of top 20 available titles. This used to be a great company but my recent experiences are not good.

ADE has several issues in the rental department. I much prefer XRENTDVD to ADE. You can find my post where I compare both and XRENTDVD beats ADE BY FAR!!!!

It's too bad these threads can't all be stuck at the top of these pages. I went through ALL of these problems a few months ago (and bitched about them plenty).

I guess they haven't improved since then. I was most disturbed by their claim that the last TWO movies I sent back were "lost" and that they had to charge me (they relented on one, but not without a fight). Same happened to you, koketron? I wonder how many people who cancel their accounts suddenly have movies disappear and get billed for them?

I should email them a list of the movies I've bought from other retailers since then because I'll never give them another dime.

They're listed on on your account page as being received on 12/24, right? If you ever get through to them they will claim that it doesn't really mean they received the discs, just that this is the day they closed the account (10 days after you canceled). In other words, they mark it as "received" just to note that they consider it "case closed" and have decided to charge you. But they never really got the discs (wink).

Could it be a punishment for cancelling? I don't know, but their "sending and receiving dates" just don't make sense. How can it take 10+ days (both ways) to receive the discs, when it usually takes no more than 3-4 days to ship?

My advice: first return the DVD's and then cancel until the following week. This way you get 17 days for them to receive the DVD's, but since you already waited almost 2 weeks to receive them since you signed, this means you probably will only be able to watch them once, and return immediately.

I also never received titles from the top of my list, and as you mention "available" means available.

I have to agree. I joined the Adult dvd empire rental program and I am very very sorry I did. I received my first set of three disks promptly. I took them nine days after I mailed them (from Maryland to Pennsylvania!) to record them as recieved. Two days after there site showed one item shipped (It took me 5 days to receive it meaning the "shipped" was bogus). Four days after that items 34 and 72 on my que were "shipped" and again took five days.

Average turn-around from mailing: 17.33 days!
1) 9+2+5=16
2) 9+4+5=18
3) 9+4+5=18

My netflix turn-around average is five days.

What conclusion can one come to other thasn ADE is intentionally screwing its rental customers. I have purchased over $500 worth of DVD's from them and am so ticked off I doubt I will ever buy from them again!
