Along the lines of identifying ourselves I would be interested in knowing who works for ADT (actually gets a pay check), who volunteers their help, who works for distributors, and who is simply interested in adult DVD's and the surrounding subjects. I think this helps put peoples comments into perspective. I know we all have bios, but they don't have much if any personal info.
Well, I guess I will start, I am 34, male, work and live in MN, just a surfer who stumbled onto this great site, and yes I am able to say it out loud now. I watch adult videos and I am not ashamed!!!
Come take my hand and let it all out. Feel the power of sharing

That's fair enough. Contrary to popular belief, I do not work for ADT. I have helped out with the chats, partly due to the fact that I'm in the Los Angeles area. I'm a moderator primarily because I visit the forum a lot--it's not a role that I asked for, but rather something I agreed to when asked.
Another question I'm often asked is whether I work in the adult industry. Nope. I have career in a totally unrelated field. I do this as a hobby, and most of my knowledge base comes from watching a lot of videotapes and being on the Internet since 1992 (I remember what a big deal the creation of rec.arts.movies.erotica was). I'm relatively new to the field of adult DVDs, but I'm definitely not new to watching porn, so I have some pretty tough standards and opinions.
I'm in my mid-to-late 20's, and to the disappointment of many (including myself sometimes), I'm male. I found ADT pretty much by accident, after reading StephDunn's somewhat obscure thread in the DVD Talk "Other" forum. Since then, I've been an active participant and staunch supporter since this is a unique place that brings togther fans, retailers, and studios on the specific topic of adult DVD.
Hope that sheds some light,
Saki

Zaxx - very reasonable question.
I am the development guy here at ADT. It's something that I do to help Steph out. She comes up with the ideas and I write the code. (I do ecommerce web development as my day job.) ADT and portions of DVD Talk are hosted on my personal systems in my home. I do not receive any compensation for my efforts other than lots of porn and a fast T1 connection to surf the web with. The only ADT "staff" are Steph and myself, but it's her site and full-time devotion.
The user names you see with "Your Humble Servant" are Administrators of the forum. Masters are volunteer Moderators that receive no compensation. Experts are users that have made more than five posts. Virgins are users that have made five or fewer posts. (You get to lose your virginity five times at ADT!)

I'm the one who rakes in all the dough
As many of you know, I left my marketing position at divadee to start Adult DVD Talk. I don't get a 'paycheck' per say - just the support of the advertisers. The costs of running this site are greater than my personal expenses. I'm 25 and lead a pretty simple life.
I do this for a lot of reasons:
1. to bring together industry people and consumers so that through communication we can better the product and gain a better understanding of what goes into producing an adult DVD.
2. because I really enjoyed all the time I spent on DVD Talk - and saw a need for a similar community in the adult arena.
3. I'm learning - everything from web design to how to work within a community.
4. I get to watch porn and call it work
ADT is a great way to spend my days. Only some aspects of running the site feel like work. Most is just fun.
So thank you all for making this a great community. zaxx I like keeping things open and honest so I appreciate your directness.

I guess I get to be the first to say thanks for the openness. Now can we get some background music with 'Getting To Know You'? ;-)

I'm just some guy. I chose the handle gogo because I believe I once had a moment of telepathic contact with Tianna (Party Doll a Go-Go).

I'm the moderator for the forums' gay section, a volunteer just like all the others, and a happy fan of Steph and Drew, not to mention Saki and the other moderators.
Things have been pretty quiet on the gay side of the forum lately, in part because I'm pretty lame when it comes to posting tons of polls and general questions just to keep the ball rolling...
Most of the major gay porn studios haven't jumped on the DVD bandwagon yet. There are only one or two important studios releasing any titles at all, the rest is just discount dreck...
Understandably, it's tough to keep a critical mass of members active in the gay forum at this point, though we've got a handful of terrific regulars. If anyone wants to help--by posting poll questions, general comments, reviews, whatever--we'd love to hear from you!
If you have any gay friends, drag them into our forum! (And if they're cute, tell them I'm ready to start dating again... )

I'm just another of the normal guys, who also happens to be a volunteer moderator of the Marketplace forum. Off the web, I've just begun working in the IT field, and I am a network engineer at Wells Fargo Bank.

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15 year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims, like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy - the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring, we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. Pretty standard, really.
Just kidding. I don't work for ADT, I just spend too much of my waking time here. I represent our East Coast Porn Watchers, just to balance out the Californians.

Darkmage - Sounds familiar, is that a quote from something or did you write that. It's quite good. I'm curious, did you ever become competitive at the luge?

Hello,
I am Doug...DDavis73, I am an addict (the crowd says Hellooo Doug) -- a porn addict. I don't do anything but spend more money than I should buying porn. On occasion I post a question or comment and then submerge back under my rock.
Be well,
Doug

It's all right "Doug", we are all friends here. Can you tell us when you first realized you had a problem with porn?

zaxx-- If I'm remembering right, that's from Woody Allen. I can't recall if it was from Love and Death or from something else, like one of his books...

Perhaps an EVIL Woody Allen movie?? No, really it's from Austin Powers - Dr. Evil's visit to the group therapy meeting.

That Dr. Evil quote gave me a sudden craving to go out and rent the original Austin Powers. (I don't own it yet because Columbia House is too lazy to send my entire shipment in one package.) Thanks for the laugh, Darkmage!

I don't remember Woody Allen being in Austin Powers!!!
I'm just a nobody...I surfed here from DVD Talk when this site opened, mostly because I like porn and adore Steph!
I'm fascinated with the business side of the Adult Industry, and curious about the performers themselves. This site answers a lot of my questions on both topics, and more!

Ok I have a couple minutes before I completly fall asleep.
First thing I can say is that I am a procrastinator. I delay on getting everything done and am always running late.
I am 21 and in sunny Southern California.
I am self-employed (fancy term for no job and never had a job) . I spend my time on my cars and my computers (that is when I am not with my gf). I spend way to much of my time wandering through this forum and dvdtalk so I try to volunteer now and then.
time for sleep now - if i can think of anything else i will add it later

I found this in the archives while I was doing a search and thought I'd dredge it back up. How fun!
-Lunacy breaks into song, "getting to know you...getting to know alll about youuuu." -
My turn!
O.K, now what do I say? lol Uh, uh, umm..well, I'm 26, I work in the airline indusrty. I recently moved back to Seattle from a very crispy 3 summers in Phoenix.
I stumbled across ADVD via the DVD forum, to which I was referred to by a friend for the bargains board.
Then from there I stumbled into chat on a fluke (second time in a chat room) and met Saki. We clicked, started chatting, emailing, fon calls, met in person. BOOM! Fell madly in love and are soon to be married! lol What am I living in a fairy tale? Sheese, how can one gal get so lucky?
I quickly became addicted to chat and the board and was recently asked by Steph to be a moderator for the Sex Talk Forum (come visit!), which I happily accepted. I also try to keep a current events thread going on the Gay Talk Forum.
In real life, I travel, write (erotica and poetry), attempt B&W fotography, attend every drum circle I can find, and more recently am pulling things together to go start a new life in CA with my darling.
So that's me in a nut shell (a cramped nut shell at that )
Come on the rest of you, share! It's fun to get a glimpse of one another.
(Psst, moderators of this forum, could you move this for me to the nonsense forum? Thanks!)

Ok, I shall succumb to the peer pressure(Damn that peer!)
I'm 25, female(as if that wasn't obvious to most people), too short to reach the top shelves in my kitchen and currently doing web research for a living. Other than that, I have no social skills and my owner only lets me out of my cage to fetch the paper.
I sort of stumbled into this site through the agencies of a dark and evil force of nature and now they're stuck with me, batteries and all....
