Among the usual material, where it seems influences range no further than whatever is currently selling best in the world of porn, I was wondering about the effective use in porn of references from beyond the usual bounds.

For example, there's a scene in Toni Ribas' Exxxplosion which has two girls (Dike, Judy) dressed in costumes similar in style to the sixties' outfits worn by the two girls who "attack" David Hemmings' character in the film Blow-Up. I often wondered if Toni was indeed influenced by that particular scene.

Other suggestions along these lines - I was thinking more of a knowing reference rather than the broad parody that porn is more usually known for? This isn't necessarily about features or gonzo or whatever, just about little details that make you think, "Aha, I know where they got that idea from..."

Hi Gabriel,
I have to say that I didn´t do that scene influenced by any movie I had saw, but I agree that is nice to use references, in fact I produced a movie together with Sophie Evans and Nacho Vidal, called "Faust", it has been distributed by Private, there the director J.M.Ponce, a friend from us in Spain, did put some references, like a scene where we see a bride doing a blow job throw the veil, reference for a movie from Gerard Damiano, a tribute to old porn.
I´ll think in adding some in my own movies, thanks.
Toni Ribas.

Hey Toni, thanks a lot for your comments. I am a little disappointed that you weren't use the influence of Blow-Up (though I urge you to check it out, I hope you'll like it and see where I'm coming from), but I liked the way you added the little touch of extra style and class in your movies, like the scene with Claudia Claire posing on the stairs in Exxxplosion. That was great, and I do hope you continue with such notions in your movies in future. All the best!
