Has the number of porn DVDs being made dropped significantly over the last year? I've noticed less and less new releases coming out each week at my local porn stores. I still see the DVDs from some of the bigger companies like Evil Angel, Jules Jordan and Red Light District, but less new releases from other companies, and a lot more compilations from companies like Digital Sin/New Sensations, Devils Films, etc. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, the DVD business is in a slump and many of the bigger companies have cut their new release schedules.

Your store could also be ordering less new releases, there are many stores that don't take all/most new releases coming out, and there are also stores that only take a certain number of new releases per week.
This is where I go on about how that just opens them up to have fans of lines they don't carry to shop at their competitors or online. And then I'll tell you how many of them have stopped carrying what the fans want and instead carry what they want the fans to want because they stand to make the most profit.
But I digress ;)

Unless you can provide a statistical analysis this thread is pointless, mere observation doesn't prove anything.

I think sites like RedTube and YouPorn are really hurting the studios. There was an article posted on the forums discussing this . This would lead me to think that the studios are perhaps scaling down their operations, i.e. producing less movies, as a result. Article
