I started to review this new RLD title last night. Immediately I noticed a cool new feature: From each of the scenes, there are onscreen links to fetish sequences within the scene. Each scene has a menu of oral, anal & cum shot on the side, and navigating to and selecting the link beams you there pronto. Cool, right?

Well, except for the fact that you can no longer Fast Forward, Rewind or Pause! Yes - you heard right! I can't believe that they have lost this functionality. Is this the new model for all RLD releases?

Obviously, this is a huge flaw in the basic mastering of this disc. Dion - Comments?

People from ADT have talked about this problem in Hardcore Training in another thread.

This problem was reported by someone on the Hardcore Training from Red Light District thread.

I have just had first experience of this annoying feature on Swallow My Pride 2. Although I can fast forward/backward when the menu appears, my picture reduces in height as if in wide screen format with the black bands appearing top and bottom. The only way I can get back to a full screen picture is to press "stop" then "play" until the next section when the procedure has to be repeated.

If there is a way to swithch off the menu I would love to hear it. Thankfully RLD are looking to scrap this feature on future releases.

balabala & charlie, thanks for the responses. I don't know how, but I completely missed that thread. Well, let me tell you that they've not removed this feature yet, and it completely stops me from navigating STTA3. There is something fundamentally wrong with watching porn with no FF button!

One aspect of this problem is that it only turns up on some models of DVD players. I rented Hardcore Training, and it FF and RW with no problem on my Sony, others with Sony players reported the same result. Sbando speculated that RLD only tested the DVDs on a Sony, and that may have been true. Dion claims the fetish menu feature will no longer be used, so Straight to the A #3 may be its last appearance.

SHIT!!!!! It's in 110% Natural #4 as well. They actually figured out how to fuck up a DVD with Michelle Wild and Jane Darling.

Last month, Dion told us "I believe that only Hardcore Training and Straight to the A #3 have this function on the disc". He hasn't updated that statement, however boths discs released since then (Swallow My Pride #2 and 110% Natural #4) have had this "function (disabling a DVD player is not a "function", it's an error).

I think that it's time for me to stop buying Red Light titles until I can be assured that this "function" no longer exists.

I got the 110% 4 DVD and have no problem doing FF & Rewind but what I find annoying is having the fetish menu on my TV screen during the whole scene. ..Well to be honest I can learn to ignore those things but what I can't ignore is those lame anal/dps in these Red Light videos, the lack of variety with respect of camera angles when dp time arrives is just awful making what is suppost to be an intense sex act "Tame" ..are those R/L camera guys on a wheelchair or something!? ..the only thing that saves this DVD besides the beauty of girls like Michelle and Karina are the euro-studs but the US guys as always are just going through the motions.

With all the trouble you guys are having with DVD's
it makes me thankful I haven't switched over from VHS.
To spend two or three hundred for a DVD player and then it
will not play some DVD's, what a frustrating experience.
I told myself that I would not switch over to renting DVD's
until I bought a DVD recorder. It looks as though we are
going thru the VHS Beta thing all over again and in spades
with the different kind of DVD burners. I am in the process
of learning all I can from different sources like this and
other talk lines to gain as much knowledge as possible
before I spend money on a DVD recorder. My first VCR back
in 1985 cost $795 for a 4 head machine that would cost around $100 now. From what I hear the prices are dropping
faster than VCR's but I know that is bad news for the movie
business both xxx and G. Luckly with movies staying around
one and half hours and processing speed doubling every 18
months rentals will be a thing of the past as we will
all be downing loading movies from the source in a matter of
seconds soon. I can hardly wait.

Hi,
Like i wrote in another post ... i keep getting trouble with dvds more and more. I updated the bios of the player and the next thing will be a new ´internal drive´. If that doesn´t work either i´ll consider giving up this dvd thing for good.
I have neither the place nor the money to have more than 2 dvd players at my home. And i don´t want to subsidize a Industry that obviously does not know the meaning of the word ´standard´. That applies to dvd producing companies as well as to dvd-player producing companies.

Even if your are ´happy´ that your newly bought dvd actually will play on your machine ´we´ (the paying customer ) get some free features nobody seems to want at all !

I demand the following ... (and i think i´m not alone)

no disabeling of any buttons on the remote ! (period)
no disturbing menus in a scene of any kind ! (period)
no user prohibitions like not being allowed to jump to a timecode of your choice ! (period)

Sure i wouldn´t mind a dvd-recorder too ... but ... by the time´they have decided what STANDARD suits their needs the most there will be someting new that makes your investment into a certain model look very stupid. In the end maybe not even the best system will win (BETA <-> VHS <-> VIDEO2000)

I´m currently viewing a dvd ... when i´m done i will start a thread about this dvd and (hoppefully) get some input from others and see what they think about ´the kind of blessing´ we received with this dvd.

Hi,

if a other problem with Red Light DVD´s. Sometimes you can´t chose the trailers. If you serach between the name of Movies the cursor stops and you can´t select a other Title.

You can only push the stop and then the menu button.

And in older titles from a half year ago. The last two scenes from Straight to the A´s 1 didn´t run on the standalone player. Wth the DVD-Player in a PC i don´t have problems. They play everything. But i don´t want to sit on the PC and wanna watch DVD´s.

How do you think about it?

Markus76, I have had a similar experience as you with my copy of Swallow My Pride 1. I can't play the last scene which happens to be my favorite on my standalone player. I have to switch to my dvd-rom to see it which is a pain.

The new "onscreen menu" is the reason I didn't buy Swallow My Pride #2, the only reason.
My Sony is able to FF while this menu appears, but I just can't stand seeing that thing on the screen during a scene, it's annoying.
Why is it that everytime an adult company tries something new they never thoroughly test it or ask customers what they think of it before implementing it, never.
Now a lot of people are upset over the fact that they can't FF on their machine or they don't like seeing the menu on the screen during the scenes.
I'm sure RLD have lost some sales because of this and I know I won't buy another one of their discs until I'm sure that the on screen menu is not there anymore.

Hi,
I´ve cancelled my orders because of that ! I´m not willing to buy DVDs like that. But as it seems this is only the tip of the ice cube. If i´m not mistaken there a companies who release DVDs who have the wrong screen format ... and therefore you do not get to see the film in it´s correct aspect ratio. All i say is ´Back to the Future 1-3´.

I have a couple of those RLD titles with the offending menus, but haven't had any problems with them. Then again, I bought a top-of-the-line player which seems to handle everything. I do, however, encounter a higher quota of glitches in adult DVDs than in mainstream or Criterion-type DVDs.

All RLD has to do is use more chapter stops in each scene ... which would reduce the need to FF in their flicks.
