Out of her whole interview the only valid point was that porn is too easy to access for minors including herself at age 11. Type in a two keywords on Google search and you end up on sites like Pornhub. I don't think you can put total blame on parents when it's that easy and there are like 10 devices in each household to browse the web nowadays. There really should be done something about it. These sites shouldn't exist. Pornstars shouldn't help promote these sites. That said at the same age, without the internet, I was watching Sexcetera and The Sex Files on television around midnight and nothing bad happened to me other than feeling more informed than most others of the same age.

The whole 'porn is empowering" thing might be valid for someone with a certain type of personality and a certain background, and not for others. You can't sell people something they don't want or that they've found to be a negative in their own lives.

It reminds me of people who say their life was shit until they found Jesus, so you should find Jesus. Someone else raised in a strict religious family found their life was better when they escaped from the Jesus thing.

It also reminds me of my brother-in-law, who said his life was circling the drain until he found Amway, so we should all sell Amway. Well, no. I'm not wrong when I decide it's not for me.

I don't think anybody is saying that every pornstar look at doing porn as just " empowering" ( which I said twice now) and yes, for some people being in porn can be damaging and self-destructive but for some, it's an empowering experience. Again, I don't know the motivation on why every pornstar does porn. I just listen to what pornstars in the business and retired ones have said. For some people being in porn is just the right career choice and for some, it's not.
I believe very much in personal choice and living with the consequence of your choices. Good or bad
So, If a pornstar says doing porn is empowering to them. I believe them and not just question their morals or something.

As I said, it might be empowering to some.

But for others, it may be damaging.

Everybody has their own baggage. Somebody has to have sauerkraut every Christmas because that's what they did with their late grandma. Somebody else hates butterflies because their dog chased one into the street and it ended traumatically. For someone, porn was a plus in their life. For someone else, it inflicted damage

There's no more reason to believe a porn star than to believe Eilish. They are the authorities on their own experiences.

People can state their own experiences. Where it goes wrong is generalizing it to everyone. No, porn isn't empowering to everybody. No, it's not traumatic to everybody.

But I understood what Billie Eilish was saying and it's valid for her and for a lot of people.

^Agreed. How many times have we seen people go down a dark path in life because of their experiences with this business. It takes a certain set of individuals who are 'suitable' for this life style in order for it to be empowering, otherwise no. Not buying it.

What is the whole quote? I thought I read a comment from someone saying that sort of thing regarding the Met Gala in NY where there are so many people of note falling over each other that they literally are nobodies.

Randy Spears -
"Who in their right mind would want their 7-year-old to be watching some woman with seven guys? It's pretty despicable stuff."

Who in their right mind is saying children should watch porn? Nobody... Also, you made this despicable stuff for years.

"It's a very real addiction and it can be really damaging to a young person."

Porn Addiction isn't real

Again, Porn is for people 18 and over. Parents should learn how to use parental locks and observe their kid's online presence.

I actually think and heard, social media does a lot of damage to young girls' mental health maybe they should both go after that.

It isn't the substance, it's the person. Doesn't matter if it's porn, alcohol, gambling, or anything else. People of all walks of life partake in these things with all sorts of outcomes. A "famous" person's experience shouldn't speak any louder than anyone else's. It always amazes me that we give these people so much power.

I have a sexually active teen daughter and she has often complained about the effect of porn on high school boys' expectations: they know nothing about clits, foreplay, when to be gentle, etc. There is definitely something worth discussing there, but again, it's not the industry's fault. If teenage boys are using porn as sex education, we're failing them elsewhere. Scapegoating porn isn't going to fix anything. It might repress things, but that's a short-lived facade of peace for older generations before it manifests in some far worse, unhealthy way.

and again, I believe pornstars are just trying to stick up for themselves and the people who work in the industry. A lot of what Billie said was stereotypical of what people think of porn performers and anti-porn propaganda. They have the right to tell their stories and call out misinformation

Just because you think and say we care doesn't mean we do.

^They do care otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to stick up for themselves.

You do care otherwise you wouldn't spend so much time talking about it.

That's all I'll say on the matter. We can keep going in circles but all anyone needs to do is see the growth and activity of this thread if they want to know if they care about this individual's words.

^This is devolving into a nonsensical pseudo-semantic discussion.

It is self explanatory: if you are discussing something, you care, to some extent. About its repercusions, about the narrative around porn. Whatever: but you are showing that you care by discussing it. If you do not care at all, you don't spend time posting about it.

You (whoever doesn't care) might not care. Fine. Great for you. That doesn't mean that nobody cares. It's nonsensical and a very strange way to try to convey meaning.

The fact that she has 100M followers and is a popstar celeb makes her opinion quite powerful in terms of reach. Quite a few journalists picked it up as this is juicy news, it was even in a local newspaper in my far away country. We care about porn else we wouldn't be here. Also the fact that a lot of professional performers responded makes it worth discussing on the forum as well. Obviously they are being hurt as it puts their business in a negative light. I don't like the whole situation and deleted her songs from my iPhone. :)

Those media warps kids' minds and there is no legal requirement to tell the truth on them so they are highly destructive to society in general. They need both serious regulation and non-government watchdogging, similar to the porn industry. Seems like more and more people are wishing up to the need to be more watchful over the social media companies.

If nobody cares about what Billie Eilish said, there wouldn't be a huge flap about it.

If nobody cares what she said, they surely don't care what you said.

But you still both can say it. You don't lose your right to express yourself when you become a celebrity.

It's more about the fact that people like her with millions of followers get more attention than their opinion deserves. Squeaky wheel kind of thing. So, while we all know that it's just her opinion, it influences a lot of people, potentially affecting the industry in some way.

No, I'm saying that their being famous should hold no more weight than the average Joe. With today's social media, famous people now seem to be more interested in their own agenda than anything else. Hard to believe Billie gives a crap about porn when it comes to other people. Most likely, she is using her social media to direct a discussion of her own self reflection, and to get attention to stay relevant.

Interesting point, but it sounds like your agenda on a porn social media site is to disavow her so called agenda by pure speculation. And, by your rational of famous people holding no more weight that the average joe, does that mean that every porn performer that pops in here is completely full of shit and should be ridiculed? (Yes, I know of the being nice policies here, so I don't need to be reminded of them) I mean, I've read some real smack talk about performers here, but the minute said performer pops in to chastise the posters/comments, the serious back peddling begins, and everything they say is treated as the word of God. I posted a link to an article from a seriously seasoned porn vet a few days ago and he agrees with her. Does he have an agenda? Or doesn't it count because he's a male performer regardless of how long he was in porn?

I wasn't referencing her in particular, but as someone whose been around teenagers and hearing some of their thoughts and opinions, younger people do actually
listen and pay attention to famous people on SM. In this case though, maybe Billie's comments will reassure some confused kid that they're ok.

And who is to decide what is true or not, it all comes down to whether someone believes it or not? I've seen some porn scenes, where the girl does her first anal and the look on her face is one of sheer misery, but they say they came a half dozen times and people will believe it. Casey said something about G/G POTY not liking girls at all, but I'm sure if said performer says they're a lezbo queen and can't get enough, who or what are you going to believe?

If there a pride to be an avid porn consumer ?
Do you boast about being a porn addict ?

No it's often a shameful secret activity you hide. Why do you think a significant number of girls end up regretting that career choice ?

because it's a hypocritical society still full of religious crap that likes to watch people having sex and then blame them. So the problem is the porn industry or the repression (often due to those religious moral views) that causes that hypocrisy? I'd say it's the second one.

Even the concept of "porn addiction", that doesn't really exist even according to the American psychological association, reminds me of those who try to not be homosexuals anymore with therapy. Guess what's the problem behind that, homosexuality or religious views?

^ 100% agree. Hypocrisy is at the root of so many terrible things.

This is probably a bit different in the US than it is in Canada, but when I joined the Canadian military in 1986 I remember being told during basic training that if any of us were gay, they'd find out and toss us out. Even as a 20-year-old, that struck me as odd. The reason a gay man (and it was primarily targeted at men) would be vulnerable in the military (or police, diplomatic or spy service) is because those services themselves would fire the person, thereby making them susceptible to blackmail. Talk about a vicious circle. For over two decades now, gay people have served openly and honourably in the military, diplomatic service, police and spy service (CSIS) and the primary reason is that the institutional hypocrisy was removed. Now, if the North Koreans contacted a Canadian embassy to report that Diplomat X was gay, the response would be 'so what you commie bastard?' Well, that's what it would be if I answered the phone. A real diplomat might me more... um... diplomatic.

There's no need to be a believer to still be deeply influenced by that culture and the shame and guilt associated with it. But I think the origin of that mentality is still tied to religion and its moral.

Porn is definitely unhealthy she's right about but it women the same in person if not better. A lot of pornstars are just ugly but with lights and make up they're a new person. I definitely expect women to look a certain way and don't wanna see fat and love handles when in missionary but that's me personally.

Believe me, I did see one atheist many years ago, he was very distant because of course those are rare creatures and difficult to know and understand but I saw him.

I perfectly know what atheism is, and I know what I'm talking about and people who are atheist have different ideas on many things obviously, included pornography. That said, I've never talked about glorification of pornography, saying that it's not the problem doesn't mean to glorify it What I've said is that the religion has shaped the mentality of the society in such a deep way that even those who supposedly don't share those value are still influenced by them. And I can see that on myself too, even knowing rationally how this work. Because we're not fully rational creatures, unfortunately, like those in marketing perfectly know (like, the idea that cigarettes are cool, there's the nephew of Sigmund Freud behind that).

At the end of the day, even the very concept of sin... where do you think it comes from if not religion? Because the very idea of thinking that sex is wrong and bad comes from that mentality. DO animals have that kind of idea of sex? Of course not. They can have sex on the street without any sense of shame or guilt. Guess why.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to remember the term "Commie Bastard!" Way to keep it alive.

Hypocrisy is alive and well in all aspects of sex and also porn. Case in point the recent GOP guy from PA who voted against the Marriage Equity Bill and then a week later attended his gay son's wedding. The same with porn loving guys who will getting their panties in a wad about the concept of maybe a couple of guys crossing swords as being super gay but then belly ache that a girl doesn't do girl girl scenes. And, let's not forget the concept of any star leaving porn and badmouthing it in general or after finding religion. Fans will tear them a new one, but if they return, all seems to be forgiven.

Yeah, big bad society and religion, easy to blame. You know, society and religion are meant to make a man better than an animal.

And from what I know even animals don't do some of the things they do in porn

It's hypocritical to watch porn them blame porn people. But it's also hypocritical to say that porn is fine, because most of the people who say that ( including porn actors and directors ) wouldn't want they daughters to do porn

Manuel Ferrara for exemple is all "porn is great, porn industry is not unhealhy, we're all good friends etc" Just ask him if would accept his daughter to be a pornstar later, and he'll insult you

I remember Billy Watson stating that porngirls are badshit crazy. See, even people behind the camera and rulling this industry don't think well of the girl who are working for them

It doesn't help the cause
