Of late, there has been a huge increase in "bio information" submissions here in the IAFD Direct Forum.
Bio information includes things like birth date, birth place, ethnicities, age, measurements, etc.
I want you all to know why I have not addressed ANY of these submissions -- nor do I plan to, as they are currently being submitted. I am only one IAFD editor, and I speak solely for myself.
To begin with, I am generally suspicious of such information.
It is often wrong, and, once posted anywhere online, frequently gets copied and repeated everywhere else online.
Certain sources, IMHO, are more trustworthy than others. Agency sites and genuine performer's sites come to mind, for example.
Simply put, I am NOT going to process bio corrections without vetting them first. And, the way they are being submitted, the vetting process takes an enormous amount of time.
Needlessly!
A while back, Walter Burns asked for a source for some information.
I'm going to spell-out my requirements out even further.
To begin with, EVERY performer on the IAFD has a performer's page.
ALL such pages have, as all Internet pages do, a URL address.
And, all such URL addresses can be linked to here on ADT.
So, when I see a submission such as [invalid URL removed]Faith, I will ALWAYS ignore it.
Why?
For starters, which "Faith" are we referring to?
A [ invalid url ] is the performer being referred to, I expect a clickable-link provided (just like I did here).
Second, I expect a clickable-link to the source of the information.
Directly to the ACTUAL PAGE on which the performer-in-question's information can be viewed!
Telling us "Source: www.whichpornstar.co.uk" still leaves us with a lot of navigating -- and we don't even know which "Faith" you are talking about to begin with.
Using this example, I had to click thru three pages until I reached this page -- which then lists 10 different girls named "Faith."
It is IMPOSSIBLE to know who is being referred to!
So, for example, if Faith Leon is the "Faith" being referred to, I expect a clickable-link provided (just like I did here).
I hope this explains what we need -- what I expect -- in order for us to process such submissions.
In summary:
(1) Performer's name with a clickable-link directly to their IAFD performer's page.
(2) State the information you are submitting.
(3) Provide a clickable-link that goes DIRECTLY to the source page providing the information that you are submitting to us.
You can start by editing ALL such existing submissions here in this forum, if you want us to process them.
Now a word on what will happen with your properly-submitted information:
IF the submitted information looks credible to us, and IF we don't already have conflicting information already listed, we will most likely add your submitted information.
IF your new information conflicts with already existing information, we will try to determine which is more credible. We may change it, or we may not.
HOWEVER, we now have the ability to add comments to performer's pages (near the bottom of the bio information area). If we are uncertain as to accuracy, and we feel that the new (or existing) information still has some merit, we will likely add a comment, as appropriate.
Clearly, when posters take the time to make a submission, we feel it matters to them.
Birthdates, and other bio statistics, are quite popular with our IAFD visitors, as a matter of fact. However, we need to make every effort to see that we post credible information.
So, thank you for taking the time to make submissions to the IAFD.
But, please, be sure to make them as I've explained, so that we are able to process them.

I do not have any disagreement with this policy.
However, I posted a few days ago information and questions regarding Persia Pele's date of birth.
I gave at least one reference link. I did not give the other IMDB link because it involved her real name/identity, and I do not know how sensitive you feel about it.

As it is, and after reading your post, I do not know whether you intend to deal with my post or simply ignore it.

"A few days ago" is like a second to us at IAFD. We are but a few volunteer administrators/editors, each offering just a couple hours a day. Please, do the math and understand that we cannot process corrections/submissions any faster than a few weeks from time of submission.
That's assuming there is nothing to discuss between the admins, that it is a clean-cut piece of information that a single admin can handle by himself (there are very few of these). So, please, don't be surprised if a submission of yours takes a couple months (or longer) to get processed.
Honestly, we encourage your submissions. We feel they are our lifeblood (since we cannot possibly watch every title) to maintaining an accurate and viable resource site. Just, please, be patient and supply us with as much information as possible to justify your position.
If you say Susie Sweetpants was born in San Diego (not Iowa, like we already have posted), please give us something we can use as proof to make the change. If you say she uses Suzie Sweat as an AKA, be prepared to tell us exactly where she used it (in a title, on a website, etc.). If you have a different Date of Birth for a girl, be prepared to give us proof (like a driver's license). It's not that we don't believe you, it's that we need definitive proof before we change a record.
You cannot believe the garbage submissions we receive - "Hey, Betty also acted in 10 films from Zero Tolerance and 12 from Vivid. Please add them to her filmography." Or "Otto uses the AKA of Bob...don't know where or when." Or "I sorta think I remember Joe was the actor in either Scene 3 or 4 of Butt Crackers #5 or #6 with either Mary or Julia." (No exaggeration!)
IOW, please use common sense and don't expect immediate satisfaction when you make submissions. We just hit 100,000 titles at IAFD and we've roughly only personally viewed 1/4 of them. So we have to do some serious research to process each submission.
I hope this gives you a little insight as to our submission process and you will continue to feed us corrections/additions to our database. They are very much appreciated, even if we are a bit slow (in your mind) in processing them.

P.S. As for actual real names (and e-mail addresses) of performers, we keep them on record, but hidden from the public. And, although we might be slow, we NEVER, EVER, ignore any submission. Thanks.

Don, I was NOT pressing you for a quick response to my post. I am not clamoring for attention.
I just wanted to know whether it qualified under your present detailed rules or whether you were going to ignore it, because I did not provide sufficient links.
I have already done a detailed study of her filmography and I was merely outlining that several sites have provided differing dates of birth. Which is the more/best credible one, is something to establish.

The "present detailed rules" are not "rules" at all.
As I said in my opening post, "I am only one IAFD editor, and I speak solely for myself."
This qualifies as "detailed"?
I'm sorry Len, but I think of this as more like stating the obvious (i.e. what should be obvious):
You know, "Who... What... Where"?
More importantly, it is the information we need (I need) in order to enable us to process these "bio information" type submissions at all.
WHO = (1) Performer's name with a clickable-link directly to their IAFD performer's page.
WHAT = (2) State the information you are submitting.
WHERE = (3) Provide a clickable-link that goes DIRECTLY to the source page providing the information that you are submitting to us.

I understand the guidelines. I have no issue with them.
A simple yes or no would have sufficed.
I did provide the link to her IAFD page, and ONE exterior link. I did not provide the link to IMDB database, because it would have entailed providing information about her real name (the name Persia uses in her legitimate movie career), and I know IAFD is very sensitive to that. But the point I was making is that she has not hidden her legitimate movie career, so I do not know whether it is proper or not proper to speak of her real name, in order to further your investigation.
I know you have to vet any information that is given to you. In the case of Persia, there are various dates of birth from a variety of sources. Many years apart.
When you get to it, if you get to it, you will have to make a decision.

^ Len,
As far as your particular submissions go, I tend to avoid them.
There are other IAFD editors with whom you seem to have a better relationship with.
I'm sorry to be so blunt.
On the flip side, I enjoy working with Delaware, and go out-of-my-way to work on his submissions
In reality, only a few of the IAFD editors venture over here to the IAFD Direct Forum and handle the submissions made here.
YOUR best bet is to submit corrections directly via the IAFD itself.
This way, your submission will be in full-view of all 11 editors.
I would suggest going to our Persia Pele performer's page, and making your submission via the "Submit Bio Corrections" button. This puts it directly into our Editor's Forum.
PersiaPele_IAFDbio.jpg
IMHO, the following submission is NOT going to be easy to handle, anyway you look at it.
I don't know what will come of it in our Editor's Forum.
It is the type of difficult submission that does not lend itself to an easy response -- at least by me, one of 11 editors, here in this forum.
Finally, all submissions are not created equal.
An example of what I'm talking about, would be Delaware's recent threads dealing with the various and confusing performers that have been credited as "Destiny."
As a result, and this research is still going on, I have sorted-out at least three performers and added many headshots to the IAFD.
The most significant "find" so far, has been finding and verifying three previously unknown early "Marie Luv (as Destiny)" movie credits -- that none of us knew or suspected were in the pile!
This is the type of stuff that I find gratifying -- and which, IMHO, matters the most to the vast majority of porn lovers and fans.
There is only so much time in a day, and I'm going to prioritize what I choose to work on.
Verifying performers, adding headshots (particularly when we don't have one), matching-up early career AKAs with A-list stars (like Marie Luv), correcting titles, etc. is always going to be my main focus.
This doesn't mean that other submissions aren't important, or don't matter.
What it does mean is that, certain things go right to the top of the list (i.e. my list), and other items keep getting bumped to the bottom of the list -- a very long list, that keeps growing.
Your "Persia Pele" submission -- and I did glance at it before you brought it into this thread -- looks to me to be one of those "beat-your-head-against-the-wall-for-a-long-time-with-no-likely-satisfactory-end-result" type of things that I triage towards the bottom of my list of priorities.
Other IAFD editors may feel differently, and get a stiffie when they come across conflicting birth date information
I secretly hope that another editor will deal with it, and keep working from the top of my list.
Seriously, please submit your "Persia Pele" submission to the IAFD, as I detailed earlier in this response.

No we do not have a very good relationship, as you were extremely rude and jeering to me on my first outing. I try to avoid your posts as much as I can, although I enjoyed your comments in the posts to Woody regarding Vivid movies.
But I can be civil nonetheless. I have a better working relationship with Walter and Kafka. I swore I would never submit other changes to IAFD, but I have continued occasionally to submit certain changes. I have put our bad exchange behind me, but I doubt we will ever be on good terms.
Having said this, if I submit changes through the IAFD site, what e-mail address shows up as sender, when I hit the "send" button? I ask this because I do not want my personal e-mail to show up.
As far as Pele's date of birth is concerned, the editors (whoever they be) can deal with it when they get around it.
Regards

I'm NOT trying to have the "last word," so please don't take this that way.
But, I feel exactly the same way -- except that I see it 180-degrees in the opposite viewpoint.
I believe that you need to type your e-mail address into the submission form any of our "Submit Corrections" buttons take you to, so I think you do get to choose what e-mail gets used.
(You'll find out when you send one. You don't have to send it, if the form turns out to be different than I remember it being.)
The only thing you can't hide, if I understand these things correctly, is an IP address (and that's with any correspondence you send via e-mail/the Internet.
This is pretty useless, other than to compare it to other IP addresses if someone appears to be posting under more than one screenname.
On ADT, for example, when Steph and Drew have to deactivate determined trolls for the nth time, they ultimately need to resort to banning the particular IP address (which, if I understand these things correctly, will be the same for anything coming from a person's computer, regardless of what screenname is being used). It's a pain-in-the-ass for them to do (i.e. looking up IP addresses), so I wouldn't let it bother me.

I really do not care about 180 degrees turns (whatever that means), or having a friendly relationship with you. Nothing you could say or do at this juncture that would repair the damage done. So just avoid further comment, and cut to the chase.
I want to know what, if any, e-mail will show up if I should submit changes directly through the IAFD site?
At the same time why have a specific forum/section like this, but then you suggest to submit changes direct to IAFD?

^ Go back and read the rest of my edited reply (which you will note was edited before your last post, so you missed it while you were composing your own post).
The IAFD Direct Forum has a different audience than the IAFD itself does.
Many people don't even know about the IAFD prior to visiting ADT and other porn forums and learning about the greater porn community.
Many submissions/corrections offered here can be handled without too much trouble.
Detailed and difficult submissions, like your "Persia Pele" submission, are much easier to handle in-house in our own editor's forum, as I've explained.
One thing that makes this IAFD Direct Forum "different," is the ability to discuss issues back-and-forth openly between any number of participants. Real-time feedback, so to speak.
And, it can and is done "anonymously" (something I gather is a concern of yours, and others).
Sending things directly to the IAFD is pretty-much a one-way street, until it eventually gets acted on.
Sort of like praying to God (she typically doesn't talk back in real-time)
E-mail has its place...
The IAFD "Submit Corrections" has its place...
This Forum has its place.
All three work towards the same goals, but have different qualities that offer aspects the others lack, as the needs vary.
Finally, this is the kind of remark that I find so irritating from you.
I've spent a great deal of time explaining and responding to you in this thread.
When someone has taken the time to address your issues and concerns, this "cut to the chase" shit gets a little grating.

If I have to use an e-mail address (or if the system/site) forces my personal e-mail address (as default for Iutlook, etc), I prefer not to use the IAFD site.
As for the rest, this is your section, and YOUR show. I am just an unwanted guest here. You can say and blow it out any way you want it. You have your opinion of me and I of you. Let's leave at that.

Len,
You can use the IAFD correction buttons without disclosing your e-mail address. You have to submit a e-mail address, but it can be a bogus one. Many submitters do.
However, if you use a bogus one, none of our replies (and every submission with a valid e-mail address gets at least 2 replies: one to confirm that the submission has been received and another when the submission is dealt with by an editor) will reach you.
I believe many submitters have created more or less anonymous or throwaway e-mail accounts on yahoo or some other service just to post to the IAFD.
As far as the topic of this thread goes, I will say nothing more than that there is some stuff being said here that I don't agree with. At this point I prefer to keep it for myself what those things are.
I don't have much free time right now to deal with submissions here. Besides, I am seriously considering dropping out altogether. However, I am sure your submissions will be dealt with sooner or later.

The problem with using a throaway e-mail by direct posting that you are suggesting could be:
=how do you know who is sending you the submission?
=how do you know/establish his/her identity and how can you rely on such submission, when you may be unsure as to who the sender is? Someone else can be sending you a message and claim to be "Len801".
=You may trust or mistrust the source of certain information with regards to past experience with that individual, but if all of a sudden a "dickee@hotmail.com" writes to you, how do you view the submission(s)?

We can see the name you have to fill out. And the IP-address.
In truth, I don't really care who submits data. I only start paying attention when it turns out that the data being provided is wrong.
True. Someone else might use your name. I wouldn't know why anybody would be interested in doing this, but in theory it is most certainly possible.
Like I said before, I seldom if ever look at names of submitters. Names of submitters only become important after a history of flawed submissions.
Len, if you are worried about your privacy or about being treated badly because of some reason, or if you just feel uncomfortable using IAFD and the corrections buttons, then don't. You can continue to use this forum. It's why it's here.
