I just saw in Julie Kay's Star Crossed thread (Brown Bunny Julie Kay) that there seems to be a debate amongst some of the industry's black performers as to whether or not it's a good idea to make a porn parody out of the hugely successful superhero/action movie, Black Panther. Julie Kay wants it to happen and is hoping fans will request her for it, whereas some other black performers have expressed that they would decline the opportunity, out of respect for the movie. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with "Black Panter: XXX", it seems no different to me than making porn parodies out of other superhero franchises (Superman, Spiderman, Batman, etc.). Of course, I'm just a white guy.
I'm just curious what everyone else thinks of the idea.

I'd say good, black performers don't get enough features work anyway. If a major Hollywood success for black actors leads to more opportunities for black performers, how is that a bad thing?

I don't think anyone has the budget to do it justice, so rather than trying to profit off the premise. I say leave it alone. Adult talent are typically not gifted actors and I would fully expect this title to come off as insensitively racist.

This is like when the porn industry wanted to do a parady of the Malcom X movie when that came out.Black peeformers didn't want anything to do with it.The only Black Male performer I could see pulling this off is Sean Michaels and personelly I tire of seeing him so I wouldn't watch it.

As long as they cast Nia Nacci in the parody, I say do it.

Yeah, I've never cared for porn parodies, but if they end up making this one and featuring her, I'd certainly check it out. Appearances by other black pornstars - like Ana Foxxx, Chanell Heart and Honey Gold - would also get me to see it.
Yeah, that's my thinking. Not to mention, many black performers have long complained about not getting opportunities to work with their counterparts (i.e. black-on-black scenes). If you're a black man in the biz, the vast majority of your work is going to be with white women, and if you're a black woman, it goes without saying that just about ALL of the jobs you get are going to be with white guys. Julie Kay has complained about this recently; in fact, I think she's talked about the possibility of starting a studio that would focus on black-on-black porn.
Geez, I can't believe someone actually thought about a Malcolm X porn parody. Um, there's a big difference between that (a porn parody of a historical figure and civil rights icon who was assassinated) and making a porn parody of a superhero movie based on a comic book. Again, I don't see how it'd be any different than all of the Superman/Spiderman/Batman porn parodies that've been made over the years. Then again, not only have I not seen Black Panther, but I honestly have no idea what it's about. So maybe there's more "meaning" behind this superhero movie than those others; this is what Prince Yahshua and Isiah Maxwell alluded to in their tweets declining a potential "Black Panther: XXX" job opportunity:

The attitude seems to be that making a porn parody would be disrespectful to the film, but why? Because it has sex in it? Because it makes fun of it? Or because in the current climate, the results would be so cheap looking and depressingly low in production values that it couldn't possibly be something a Black Panther fan would be proud of?
Probably a mixture of the three, but the first two reasons are the whole purpose of porn. Porn adaptations need not be disrespectful even while they poke fun (although just by integrating sex, some might think that's an instant display of disrespect--tainting the franchise). The third reason I can totally understand.
Side note--I chatted with the screenwriter for Can't Be Roots XXX, and he said several black performers refused to be in it because of the racism in the original TV series. They didn't want to be associated with the original. Yep. From what I gathered, that show is cherished as a noble classic primarily by whites (and perhaps an older generation of black folks). I imagine those that participated in the parody had a grand old time sending it up. I thought Evasive did a great job with a tiny budget and amply made its point.

That Roots parody had some horrible acting, but some scorching hot sex. The worst all time parody had to be about The Help. It was regular scenes intercut with women sweeping the floor.

The root parady not only had bad acting but let's face it,the female performers were not that appealing either. If they did a porn parady on Stefin Fetchit they could get Jon-Jon to play the title role.

There were a couple solid females in the Roots parody, like Nikki Stone and Hayley. They didn't look that good because I don't think makeup was part of that time period.

^ Correct. I appreciated that aspect a lot and I agree the sex was great. As for the acting, I thought it was totally appropriate. The cast threw themselves into it and turned in silly, enthusiastic performances that imo matched the satirical tone of the movie.

I think he is saying that this movie will prove to be a moment in black history.
I haven't seen it, and I don't look to Disney as a cultural vanguard. But a lot of black people I've heard from think this is an important movie.
Moreover, I think we are at a historical moment, and it is being reflected in pop culture. If it's half as layered and complex as Beyonce's Lemonade, then it's worth the price of a movie ticket.

Come on. They parodied Roots successfully. No movie is above parody. And no superhero movie, no matter how good.

^Do you really need anyone to answer that question because if you are a fan of interracial porn than you probably already know the answer. As far as I know the only studio to still be doing interracial porn on a regular basis is Dogfart and the bulk of their content is black on white porn. All the other studios that produced interracial porn have either died or reduced their output to the point where you can count on your hand(s) the number of title they release each year.
I don't care for parodies because those tend to try to add humour to porn and frankly those are two things that I don't think mix very well anymore than horror with porn but I'm more than happy when someone uses a mainstream movie as the source material to make their porn movie. What's even better in the case of Black Panther is that it would likely be a movie with an all black cast so that is good news for a group of performers that don't get enough opportunities. The downside is that BP is a fairly high on special effect type of movie and therefore the budget will be much higher than an average porn movie and that pretty much means that it's either never going to get made or they will do a piss poor job.
A Luke Cage porn based movie might be a lot better because you could still have your all black cast but instead of wasting money on mid-level F/X. You could instead concentrate on a convict with super powers that can fuck all the time because his dick never tires and since he has been in prison for a while than he is really horny.

Luke cage would be nice, but please don't put prince in it. Rob Piper would be nice with a host of the hottest females. To quote the original series in the season one finale. I double dog dare you, trick!

Yes. Because despite your condescending rhetoric, you didn't answer the actual question; a question to a statement that black women are limited to working with white men.
Did black porn disappear in the last 15 years? Not interracial porn. Black porn. Not everything has to do with white people. Ten to fifteen years ago, black female performers complained that they didn't have the opportunities to work with or even discriminate against white performers like black males do, implicit that most of their work was in black porn. Did that market disappear?
I ask because I don't watch black porn.

Black porn has changed. I think most black men prefer to work with white, Asian, Hispanic women, etc. Personally, I love black women and think there are beyond beautiful, but will also say from experience, women of other ethnicities tend to bring a fever to the bedroom that black women don't. I also think black on black porn doesn't sell. Companies like Video Team, who embraced black lines don't even exist and WCP doesn't appear to be putting out much of anything these days.
Series like Black Cravings, Gangland and others were blazing hot 15 years ago, but we don't even have enough solid black men to pull that kind of content off anymore. Dogfart is as close as it comes, but unlike the classic stuff, Dogfart is corny. That doesn't mean the content isn't hot, but it's not legendary like the days of old.
Red Light, PXP, Elegant and on occasion DVSX used to drop solid Black titles, but that was also made possible by Jada Fire, Kitten, Vanessa Blue, Kelly Star, Chloe Black and a few other women that aren't active anymore.
I think about the time Black talent started going to Europe and Brazil, that was the end of all black porn and the end of good talent like Darren James.

Black porn production is way, way down. It has disappeared but it is no where at the level it use to be.

Yes, even with the huge dip in porn production black porn production companies were hit even harder. All the major porn production companies (Black Ice, etc) have disappeared.

Wow, that is interesting. They used the original to do something with Asian men. I will check that out for sure.
