I've recently made the jump to Blu-ray (I still keep hold of my old trusty DVD player). Trouble is the blasted thing's resume function doesn't work. And I'm on my second player with this seeming fault! Unlike my DVD player as soon as I press "Stop" on either the player itself or the remote the player sets the disk right back to the Home Menu. Nope, there doesn't seem to be a memory on the thing what-so-ever. Any idea what the trouble is?

Try pausing instead of stopping.
I'm still strictly on DVD technology. Because my SD television still works, and I'm not going to replace the TV until it starts to act up, or I move someplace where it simply looks small for the room it would be in. But anyway, my old DVD changer remembered where I'd left off if I shut it off, so I could just turn it back on later and it would immediately start playing from where I had stopped it. But then the player started acting up, I guess from the effects of heat, dust, and just being four or five years old, so I replaced it with a cheap single disc player. Now, every viewing session begins with the player loading the disc and going to the disc's start menu, as if I had just put the disc in the tray. It was a bit annoying, but I've adjusted to it.

Blu-ray players are different than DVD players. I'm not sure that most of them have resume functions.

I think it has to do with the bd-Java used. For some reason, you cannot resume.
