I am looking into porn as my career, and I was wondering if anyone has heard things about Blue Max Models as an agent? I am in PA and NYC would be closest to me...any advice/tips would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey! well from what I know, blue max is associated with Adult modeling Alliance, witch also features Giirlz, inc, and world modeling, I have heard great things about all 3, if you are in new york i would say they are probebly your best bet, they offer a lot of assistance and they have a reputation of being very professional, don't take my word for it, but I would do it if I was you ;)

Hey BrunnettPornFan, you can contact me directly, but they are legit and good people. You will probably deal with Jen when you contact them as Joe is a very busy man. They are the only company I advertise and write about on my blog http://www.JupaMan.com because I have seen them come up from the ground floor.
When you speak with jen, tell her that JupaMan told you about their great reputation and business standard.
They are located in Long Island, NY which is pretty far, but they do have a driver, and Jen also does some of the driving for the girls. I can give you their break down, which is more than fair, if you'd like.
One thing though, as with all agencies, you will be expected to escort, so I'm sure you will be asked, but again, ALL agencies will expect or ask...
If you are not willing to go with an agent just yet, then get in touch with me and I'll see what I can do for you. I'm currently assisting Lexxxi Lockhart (google her), Savanna Knight, and Clayra Beau.

Do all agencies really expect you to escort? I know a lot of porn actresses do escort, but I'd be surprised that they all (or most of them) want the girls to escort also. I'm sure there's a lot of money in escorting though.
In a way, I'm always a little disappointed when I find out that a girl I like in film also escorts. I guess I like the sluttiness of a girl on film, but not the whore-ishness of a girl escorting. I know that must sound stupid.

It doesn't sound stupid at all... but yes, about 95% of the girls in the business do escort, and yes all agencies ask the girls to escort. Reason being that there's much more and faster money in escorting than there is in porn. Most girls specially new girls in the business do NOT make a living out of shooting porn, so they are "pushed" to escort to make a living. Sad but true.
ALL of the models I have worked with in the past 8 years do or did escorting. Even when they adamantly and publicly say they don't, they really do just more exclusively as to who with. I challenge anybody to look at the girls in my site and tell me they don't escort. I can tell you the agency and for how long. Specially big names, because they get to charge a lot more per session.
Sorry if I busted your bubble, but I'm not known for holding my tongue back. :)

Not totally true. I don't do escorting, and likely never will. It's a personal choice for me, and just a line I don't cross. I've been asked by roughly half the agents I've worked with, but only the one that turned out to be bogus made a real issue out of it and tried to con me into doing it anyway. I've talked to some girls who do escort but for only one client, and I've heard of some who focus almost entirely on that. One of the things I prefer about JUST doing porn, quite simply, is that I know everyone I'm working with is tested. Like I said, personal preference. It may happen a lot, but no one is by any means obligated to do it.

Is that really a valid statistic? 95%? I mean I have browsed just about every pornstar escort website I can find and most of my top 50 pornstars arent listed, if only 5% don't do it where do i find the rest?

I think that, like most statistics, it's really something people pull from thin air. For example, IAFD says Bree Olson weighs 110 lbs. Meanwhile on Twitter, Bree claims she's closer to 130 lbs. I've heard as low as 50%, and as high as 95%. I think a lot of girls do, and some of the one's I know only have maybe one "client", so do you lump them in? It all depends. Then you've got girls like Sunny Lane who do stints at the Bunny Ranch, do they count?

Top 50 over the past five years? How many porn actresses have come and go? 1000's in the past five years. 1000 X 5% = 50. This sound reasonable.

AMA (the agency that encompasses Giirlz. Inc, Blue Max and World Modeling) does claim that they are not an escort or private entertainment service. They also claim that they don't allow escorting out of their house (they house non-local talent). All I know is their reputation here, which is actually quite good. There's nothing wrong with escorting (other then the Dumbocrats keep it illegal), but I think it should be your decision and you should not be pushed into it. If you do escort, I would have a limited clientele and always use a condom (male or female). Get to know the other talent (if Jupa Man's statements are true, there should be lots of escorts to teach you), have them tell you how they stay safe and weed out undercover police officers. Definitely don't stand on a street corner and get your johns that way. Also, don't mention money and sex in the same sentence or paragraph with a potential john. Police aren't allowed to coerce, which includes them telling you they want prostitution or escort services, they hint around at it and expect you to "incriminate" yourself. I do know that many a middle-shelf talent has escorted in the past. I could go on three escorting sites and probably get 50 names for you that you should recognize, but I won't mention them here due to police possibly monitoring this site.
Moral: Think long and hard before you escort, agent or not. In 49 states, escorting is illegal and in Michigan is a felony and carries a 20 year prison sentence for a first offense. I have heard of escorts in California getting away with a misdemeanor and a $500 fine. Check into the law in the state you would be practicing in if you choose this route. Do not go to someone's car or hotel room, use a room of your own (again, police use their own rooms that are laced with cameras). If you practice in a state where escorting is a felony, you may ruin the rest of your life by escorting if you get caught! Personally, I would stay with fucking on film -- Giirlz Inc. claims that you can make $7K in two weeks just doing that (and this jibes with other information I have). It is your decision, think wisely!

I tried working with Giirlz Inc a while back before I ever shot my first scene. They essentially told me that the market was bad and that they didn't really have anything they could line up for me in Florida at the time. They did, however, encourage me to participate in their webcam program through Naked.com... for which I saw maybe a third of what I actually earned. They apparently "lost my check in the mail" and then the online records of my earning conveniently vanished... I wasn't happy, and haven't cammed since...

Damn, that's BS, that webcam network is very shady, even the recruiter programs are suspiscious, well that is the first negative thing i've heard about giirlz inc, maybe i should ammend my previous statement and recommend doing some more research, They always sounded like the best agency based on the testimonials i heard, but then you never know.

Oh, I'm not saying they aren't, and for all I know the USPS is just no good at delivering my mail, but the fact is, the industry is slowing down, and it's hard for ANY agent to get new girls work right now... There's less producers, more girls, and people worry about working with new girls because they flake more...

oh wow, i didn't realize that, i know the biz is on the downslope but I didn't realize it was like that, i assumed there is always work for new models, based on how much content is constantly being turned out, that's actually a little disturbing, really indicates what the future may be like

My first trip to LA I sat in a model house for ten days and got to know Grace Wood. I was one of something like 80 girls on that agencies roster, and they seemed to think that 25=MILF these days. I think that the younger girls get in a little easier, but the word on the street is that this will be the slowest summer on record in the industry. It scares me. Girls have already seen the rates drop a bit (I saw on Twitter the other day "Hey girls, the days of $900 for b/g are gone, think 3-500"), and that's why more and more girls are doing the webcams, personal sites and feature dancing. Maybe I just haven't made the right connections yet, but if it weren't for Valley Babes (Sophie Dee's agency) and Billy Watson, I don't know if I'd have shot ANY porn in LA in the past couple months...

Damn, that's crazy! just $500 for b/g? i know some models wanting that much for nude stills! I don't see how it can work, maybe we will see an influx of independant pornstars, if they are getting ripped off by their own agents, I think that might end up being a major shift change in the industry, but it will definately get figured out, i think there will be new business models in all media within the next 10 years, there will have to be or nothing will survive on a mainstream level.

I agree. We're already seeing gimmicks like 3-D on everything. I think, for porn, a new way to make money NEEDS to be found. The tube sites are KILLING the industry, ask Mike South, and it makes sense: why pay for what's out there for free? The RIAA already proved that going after the pirates is damn near impossible, and recording artists are starting to find other ways to make money besides selling their music. I don't know that porn can survive on t-shirt and autograph sales, and we're not selling out stadiums (though that would be interesting) so we need to look at other options. I thought something like Netflix streaming for porn would be cool, and more difficult to pirate.

Definately, a lot of companies are doing that already, but not quite well enough, evil angel's VOD service is pretty solid, but other ones like sugarVOD rip you off by charging double minutes on premium titles and charging by time only (including loading stalls for those of us with slower connections), so if you only can afford 15 minutes of content, you'll likely only see about 5 minutes, so that needs to be fixed, I think it would be awesome so bring back the spirit of going to adult stores, every store now charges like $50 for a DVD, and the only thing people buy anymore are sex toys, I think porn companies should really try to create a more tangible industry catering to reinstating consumer interest in adult novelty stores, DVD's at more reasonable prices, more fun novelty products, i think so many people are forgetting how enjoyable adult stores are supposed to be, I used to love the big adult superstores because it was like you wandered into sexland, but now it's not as fun because I can't afford anything, but there's got to be a way to bring that back, there always is, it's just not something we're seeing yet.

You make a good point that it needs to be fun AND affordable for the consumer. I think the problem with the way VOD works for porn now is that it's built on one of two models: the sex hotline model (charge by the minute, etc) or the hotel PPV model (rent it once for an outrageous fee). What I'm talking about is something where it's like $15 a month for all you can consume GOOD content to a computer or to a device like Roku or PS3/XBOX. Not quite giving it away, but also not charging an arm and a leg for it. The girls in porn aren't seeing residuals on the various places our work ends up, so why not? If a VOD company does a profit sharing model with producers, say $1 per every viewing of their titles, then everybody wins. The consumer gets cheap porn in their home, the VOD gets monthly subscribers and free access to porn libraries, and producers get their work out there. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a stand up on Netflix, loved it, and then gone and bought the DVD because it'll be off Netflix inside a few weeks. Crap, every season of LOST was on Netflix right before the new season started, and I doubt that slowed DVD sales of the series...
Problem is, it's such a new idea, no one will likely go for it...
Still, I'd love to see more of a "party" or just plain "fun" atmosphere at more porn stores. The ones near me all sell "smoking" paraphernalia too, so that tends to lighten the mood a bit...

lol, i've seen the headshop/pornstore combos around here too, you Idea is excellent, that would be the best way to make VOD work, just something that not only helps the people making the porn, keeps talent happy, and keeps the industry alive, but also changes the "cum now, adventure later" mindset of society, It seems like people don't really care about quality or entertainment value in porn these days, i've always felt that good porn should make the viewer want to wait for the climax before the viewer climaxes, but most people just want the cheap fix, and that i think is going to be the toughest challenge is getting people back into the spirit of it, if that can be achieved than people will gladly spend money just like you said, as long as it's fairly priced and of high entertainment value, and the venue is convenient, i think it can be done.

Interesting post. I would like to hear more about the beginnings of a porn actress career. Are there any documentary? How much are European girls getting paid for B/G in Europe? American porn actresses are competing with cheaper more beautiful supermodel-like European girls (my opinion) like Aletta Ocean, 2010 Female Foreign Performer of the Year. Outsourcing bad for the American girls, but I love the variety.

@Brianmarleau420 yeah, I think there's a lot of potential there, but it really is going to take someone who is able to negotiate with big companies like Vivid, Wicked, and Adam&Eve to get them onboard for something like that. I don't know what Netflix did, but they've got tons of content from Starz, Showtime, CBS, and Discovery Channel, so it's something that we KNOW works across competitive lines. Hell, with streaming, they could even embed "go to the homepage" options in the videos like they tried to do with DVDs!
@bluerayporn Not sure if there's a documentary out there or not. I know I've seen a bunch of stuff like Pornocopia on HBO, and Seymore Butts had a series I think on Showtime, but those usually cover people who are already in porn. I think it would be cool to watch, and I'd probably sign up tomorrow if I saw a casting call. It's not an easy biz to get into, and the economy is such right now that everything is changing. As for European girls, they're still girls. Don't know what they're making, but if our economy is stronger than most, then I can't imagine what they're dealing with over there. The last time I rented European porn, I thought I was getting a reverse gang bang, but the first hour was just 4 girls playing strip party games with a guy moderating. I'll stick with American Made stuff I guess...

That's exactly what I was thinking, Something that offers full interactive dvd-like playability from every studio in the industry, even some interet companies could jump in, then offer some free content, and full title rentals as part of the monthly charge, i think it is totally doable, even more so than the netflix system, I'm sure if this kind of business model presented itself as the new revenue maker everyone would jump in, I would

It might be too late to get in this discussion since It seems I've been buried in editing and the topic just went in a whole new direction. For reasons of not naming names and for legality reasons, I won't name anybody, but yes; 95% is about right. you name me the model, and I'll tell you what agency she's escorting form. you might or might not believe it, but it's true. Even though agencies say "no escorting", there IS escorting ( am I getting in trouble for saying this?). I think I might cut it short here before I get in trouble. :)

most of them are NOT going to be listed. There are specific agencies in 3 states that actually advertise the pornstars to a selective clientele, and you can "work" for them by invitation only from other pornstar escorts. A good friend of mine has a $3800 for 2 hours client here in NY. She's advertised in a very well known escorting site, but with another name. :)

yes, unfortunately the rate has gotten to between $300 to $500 for B/G no matter how big your name is. here in the east coast has always been cheaper to pay for bigger name porn models; but even companies that used to pay $60 for B/G are now paying only $400.

There is something similar to netflix for porn, but it hasn't really taken off. It's called FyreTV and they stream the big name movies from the big companies straight to your TV. I hope it takes off because it's a great idea.

I hope so too, it sounds like the problem solver for the adult biz, but i'm not really worried if there is one industry that can survive anything it is the sex industry, without a doubt.

It's bad enough how much the legitimate players in the industry pull on the girls, but the statement that most agencies will require a model to escort is flat out not true. And it really irks me when some un-licensed shady non-agent comes and says some BS like that. Even worse is how many models actually believe that crap.
Many agencies know escorting happens but want to maintain some plausible deniability to avoid legal liability. Especially any actual licensed agency based in LA or New York, which is where most of them are. Any 'agent' who says every agency is going to require you to escort is normalizing their illegal / near-illegal behavior at best, or most likely flat out lying. And any 'agent' telling you that all of their talent escorts is not a licensed talent agency.
I do know that many 'agents' will send their models on shoots with 'private collectors' without telling the model, leaving her to figure it out upon arrival. In many cases the camera is there only to legitimize the event. There are a LOT of 'agents' who behave dishonestly like this. Many of them even worked for reputable agencies at some point before being dismissed for asking their girls to escort and sending them to shoots with private collectors.
And I would disagree that 95% of the models escort. I have heard more like 50% and that is believable. But even then, those models either manage the escorting themselves or have an escort agency separate from their talent agency. Models get kicked out of agency model houses all the time for escorting while staying at the house. There is a reason for that - the agency could lose their license or worse. Also, many of them wait until the winter season to escort because they don't want to catch a dose and pop on their AIM test. Because even if they just caught the clap they are out of work for 2 weeks and all the talent they worked with in the recent months get notified of their infection so that they can get tested, too. At least in theory.
If you are not interested in escorting then find yourself a reputable agency that will not ask that of you. Don't believe what anybody tells you in this industry, especially if it is pushing you closer to the edge of the law or your better judgment.
If you would like to know exactly what the legal requirements and conditions for earning and maintaining an agency license in New York and California, or anywhere else in the U.S. that agencies are required to be licensed, follow this link
http://www.agentassociation.com/frontdoor/agency_licensing.cfm
See these excerpts from the New York and California statutes governing talent agencies, which must be licensed and bonded. The following clearly outline important agent obligations to talent and prohibited activity:
California
"1700.21. REVOCATION, SUSPENSION OF LICENSE – GROUNDS: The Labor Commissioner may revoke or suspend any license when it is shown that any of the following occur: (a) The licensee or his or her agent has violated or failed to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter. (b) The licensee has ceased to be of good moral character. (c) The conditions under which the license was issued have changed or no longer exist. (d) The licensee has made any material misrepresentation or false statement in his or her application for a license.
1700.33. PROHIBITED EMPLOYMENT: No talent agency shall send or cause to be sent, any artist to any place where the health, safety, or welfare of the artist could be adversely affected, the character of which place the talent agency could have ascertained upon reasonable inquiry.
1700.35. PERSONS OF BAD CHARACTER: No talent agency shall knowingly permit any persons of bad character, prostitutes, gamblers, intoxicated persons, or procurers to frequent, or be employed in, the place of business of the talent agency."
New York
"S 37.01. Definitions. As used in sections 37.03 and 37.05 of this
article:
3. "Theatrical employment agency" means any person (as defined in
subdivision one hereof) who procures or attempts to procure employment
or engagements for circus, vaudeville, the variety field, the legitimate
theater, motion pictures, radio, television, phonograph recordings,
transcriptions, opera, concert, ballet, modeling or other entertainments
or exhibitions or performances, but such term does not include the
business of managing such entertainments, exhibitions or performances,
or the artists or attractions constituting the same, where such business
only incidentally involves the seeking of employment therefor.
4. "Theatrical engagement" means any engagement or employment of a
person as an actor, performer or entertainer in employment described in
subdivision three of this section.
S 37.03. Theatrical employment; contracts. Every licensed person who
shall procure for or offer to an applicant a theatrical engagement shall
have executed in duplicate a contract or deliver to the parties as
herein set forth a statement containing the name and address of the
applicant; the name and address of the employer of the applicant and of
the person acting for such employer in employing such applicant; the
time and duration of such engagement; the amount to be paid to such
applicant; the character of entertainment to be given or services to be
rendered; the number of performances per day or per week that are to be
given by said applicant; if a vaudeville engagement, the name of the
person by whom the transportation is to be paid, and if by the
applicant, either the cost of transportation between the places where
said entertainment or services are to be given or rendered, or the
average cost of transportation between the places where such services
are to be given or rendered; and if a dramatic engagement, the cost of
transportation to the place where the services begin, if paid by the
applicant; and the gross commission or fees to be paid by said applicant
and to whom. Such contracts or statements shall contain no other
conditions and provisions except such as are equitable between the
parties thereto and do not constitute an unreasonable restriction of
business. Forms of such contract and statement in blank shall be first
approved by the commissioner and his determination shall be reviewable
by certiorari. One of such duplicate contracts or of such statements
shall be delivered to the person engaging the applicant and the other
shall be retained by the applicant. The licensed person procuring such
engagement for such applicant shall keep on file or enter in a book
provided for that purpose a copy of such contract or statement."

Really JupaMan? If such is the case then it makes sense that there is more escorting activity around you than modeling.
I know for a FACT that in LA right now $700-$1100 is the range for B/G. And on the East Coast the lowest I have heard for B/G, even AFTER agent fees was $600.
So there is either a lower class of talent JupaMan is familiar with, or the models, producers and agents I know are all grossly inflating the figures in a uniform pattern. Or maybe its easier to make more money by trying harder to send the girls into escorting gigs than modeling gigs.
Ladies, if you are pretty then you can make several thousand each week without escorting. Don't buy into this 'escorting is the last resort' BS.

Well known agents do that? Because I know many of these agencies book "bachelor parties" for plausible deniability purposes.
Women in the industry have said it's around 70%, so it seems highly likely that it's over 50%.

First, @Consumption Junction, great site to link to. It's come in handy for me in the recent past, but it also doesn't cover New Jersey, which is where the bogus agent I dealt with was ACTUALLY based. There are still a lot of regulations that he violated (no agency license number on his ads, no carriage of $1000 bond, etc.), but by operating 3 miles outside of New York, he made it MUCH more difficult to uncover his shadiness and I spent several days fending his BS off. He even tried to set me up on what sounded like a "craigslist gangbang", with untested civilians who he found online somewhere.
It should also be noted that Jupa is NOT an agent and doesn't present himself as one to girls. He knows some folks at Blue Max and posted here to vouch for them. As for the issue of who escorts, I agree that it sounds over inflated, and that most of the agents don't do it. I've been asked by more producers than agents in the last couple months if I escort, and I've been given a different number each time, always very high. The logic seems to be "if everyone else is doing it, why don't you?". Of course, I don't jump off bridges either, so there we go...
As for the rates girls are making, it really depends on the studio, but the average I've seen myself has been around $500, New York a little lower, and it jives with what a lot of the girls I've talked to have gotten lately. I refer you to a post from just a few days ago:http://twitter.com/LaShoeGal/status/11746390068. Furthermore, in the short time I've been in the industry, I've had a hell of a time getting booked. If not for Valley Babes, I would have been chewed up and spit out by the larger agencies I've tried working with who have just constantly told me "I can't find you anything". If it was my look, my reputation or my personality, dear god, I wish someone would just tell me what was wrong so I could fix it, but I've heard nothing... Just "I can't find you anything". Billy Watson took a chance on me for Dogfart and his own sites, and for that, he has my gratitude, but he's only one man. Another new girl I know, Grace Wood, even came FROM California to Wisconsin to shoot a scene with a small producer out here.
Maybe the big companies like Vivid and Wicked are paying the rates you mentioned, and maybe girls like me just aren't good enough for them for whatever reason, but my take, 4 months into my adventure as a porn star, is that the money is drying up and the focus of most producers has shifted so that eve 22 is too old.. Either way, I'm not escorting and never will, but I'm also not making several thousand a week when I'm in LA.

yeah, that's definately going to be happening quite a bit i think, People will start shooting more in other places where the rates might be a little lower, so the talent will go where the work is, I think that is the main issue with you not finding the work you should Clayra, it's definately not your look or your age, people love the more natural look you have, I especially love to see you with your glasses because it's such a good look, I'm really surprised there isn't more calls from the gonzo companies, If only I could get my production company going and start shooting in L.A. your agency would definately have heard from me, so maybe there just needs to be more independant jobseeking these days, instead of throwing your photo in with the hundreds of others on an agency site, maybe find a way to really announce who you are so when producers see that they will be much more inclined to hire you, because i will be the first to say it is really easy to overlook dozens of models at a time because there are just so many of them, and they are all presented in a very generic topless photos, that your eyes really only catch unique or special things, I think the way to really get more work is to really independantly advertise yourself, you certainly have some really cool photos to show, now is just about getting them in front of the right eyes y'know?

It's pretty clear JupaMan is not an agent, but it is clear that he is close to the ones whose bread and butter is escort clients and not film producers. Agents like that use their smaller percentage of bookings with producers as a veil of legitimacy to get models working with them. Only later does the model realize she's going on more 'private collector' or escort gigs. The line is so blurred with those agents that they just tell girls to be ready for a gig at such & such time. Even worse, many of these producers organize 'fuck a fan' type gigs. the agent collects money straight from the clients and the models. They even act like they are doing the model a favor by charging less or no 10-15% fee to the models for those type gigs. It's shady as hell. And sure the money is there, but the risk is too when these guys aren't tested or they are civilians who might not respect the model physically or psychologically. What does a civilian have to lose from breaking standards anyway if they are purely consumers? They won't lose work or anything. I have heard stories from models travelling in NYC working with agents like this - before, after and during the trips. It's terrible.
More than when an escort-agent does so, it burns me up when some associate of an escort agent starts putting out that 'grooming' language. As if he is placing an arm around the girl and explaining the big bad world to her. And yes, it's a shame and bothers him too, but that's the way it is. But I can hook you up with just that type of agent, just let me know. What a load of crap.
As for Blue Max, of what I do know about the way he works, the only specific thing I will say I know is this: I was working with one independent model last year who at the time was shopping agents nationwide. She got a call back from Blue Max while at my studio and held the discussion on speakerphone. Among other things, he wanted a 3 year contract commitment upfront right off the bat. Other things from this thread were discussed as well...
ClayraBeau, you've been in hardcore for only 4 months? You came in atthe wrong time of year for one thing. Everything winds down in LA and pretty much elsewhere starting in October/November. I'm talking 75% slowdown. And it was definitely more drastic last fall, and the windup this spring has been sluggish due to the economy. It's starting to pick up in April, though. So be patient and give it some time. Winter in LA is not the time to expect a lot of shoots. And many models go through an agency or three as they get started before finding the right one for them.
As for rates. I know it's always lower on the east coast, but the models who accept the bargain basement prices for gigs are only hurting themselves and others. It's a bad precedent to set for yourself as well by taking really low-paying gigs because once word gets out to producers that you accepted that rate then that is what they will be willing to pay. It's not like the producers talk about it, but some production companies pay rates are common knowledge, so if you work with them then it's out there. I would highly recommend setting your lowest price for standard B/G and not going any lower. It may be hard in the short term but it can pay in the long term. I saw that you chimed in on the IR pay thread, if you are open to IR & anal there should be all kinds of work for you in LA, especially if you do BBG or Group.

Thanks Brianmarleau420. You're right, it's easy to get lost among so many other girls. My first agent had me among something like 80 other girls on their page, and I feel lucky that Billy picked me out of the crowd. Over at Foxxx right now, I'm among 54 other models, and I think Valley Babes is waiting for me to get more pics before they put me up on their site. Contacting producers on my own is a great idea, but the problem is one of how to get their attention in the first place. While an agent has to deal with 50+ anonymous girls, I'm sure the producers are dealing with 100s. Couple that with the fact that most of the big sellers are going to feature girls who have already made a name for themselves, and it's easy to understand why so many of us are looking to fuck on film, but don't have as much opportunity. It's no less frustrating though. For a producer to take a chance on a girl means he has to hope his fans will like her, and that she isn't simply going to flake on him. I've said elsewhere, a lot of this biz seems to be built on recommendations and reputations, so I have to be okay with the idea that it may take a bit before I start getting phone calls and emails from people who want to shoot me.

Yep, you're dead on about the time of year, and I get that now. I'm hoping that the next time I'm out in LA, I'll actually see more work finally. The last few trips have been one or two shoots in a week, and little more. The biggest problem I have is getting work booked BEFORE I pay for a trip out there. Every time I've come out, I've had to book the trip first and hope for the best, and It's gotten a little tiring. Ideally, I'd love to just get a call from my agent saying "we've booked a bunch of shoots two weeks from now", I buy a plane ticket, and then spend a week getting my brains fucked out before going home to Chicagoland. Still, like you said, patience is key, and so is not selling myself short, so I'm hanging in there :) Thanks!

Oh yeah, it definately won't happen overnight, but it will happen if you really do put yourself out there, just know what your best assets are and really throw that in people's face, I think so many models just assume that T&A and the willingness to fuck on film is enough, but if you demonstrate something edgy and cool to the fold it makes a big difference, like your knowledge of art can be an advantage, or your vast plausability, try taking a dozen photos as a dozen different charactors, then maybe stitch them together in one photo to look like 12 different women when it's all you, that'd grab some producers by the balls, even though it's the sex that sells, the more you dress it up, the more people take notice y'know?

Most agents with time in the industry have dealt with so many flakey girls that they will not take a chance booking them work until they are physically in LA, or have at least booked a flight and sent the itinerary, and have a recent valid AIM test. They don't know if the girl is whoring, escorting, on a drug binge or still looks the same. No agent wants to be in the position to disappoint a client. I can sympathize with them for that. Also, many producers don't book more than 2 weeks out and manevade more like 1 week. So, unfortunately for those who don't want to liVe in LA, if you want the work you have to stay there or you will be losing 1 week every trip unless you get a shoot from a last minute cancellation. Many models just stay there during the season and then travel, or escort, during the winter.
Hang in there. Persistence is everything. If it was easy then everyor could do it.

I hear ya. Next time, I think what I'll try is booking a flight 3 weeks out, getting up to date pics immediately before that, and see if that helps... I have no problem traveling, but I need to stay where I am due to family reasons. It's possible to make that work, it just makes it harder, and I realize that, so I'll keep working at it. I've kept my AIM test up to date, made (I hope) some good impressions with the people I've worked with, and I keep making new connections every day, so here's hoping it pays off. :)

Yes, some agencies book bachelor parties. The "reputable" ones claim that sex is either not allowed or up to the talent. Some will only book talent into bachelor parties in pairs or with a handler. However, the escort agencies claim the same thing (other than the handler). Not being an agent, I can only speak based on reputation, and AMA (and Speigler -- but Mark takes so few models that I cannot hardly recommend them to a beginner, as well as only representing for LA work) seems to have the best rep from what I have been told by many models, some right here on ADT. Other than this thread, I haven't heard of AMA or Speigler ever sending someone on an escort or bachelor party job. As for their talent escorting on the side, I am sure it happens -- likely using the connections that Brian, Jim and Joe (or Mark for Spiegler clients) get them through work but not involving them directly. Some (NOT ALL) of the smaller producers/directors are shady, and I think this is where the prostitution element comes in. However, as I said I don't deal with any of the porn agents often as I don't work in porn. I do keep up on the industry the best I can from this vantage point, though -- and I feel that I can honestly say I have a good read on the legitimate industry. Think of escorting this way: if someone offers you $2000 for a night of wining, dining and a little anal and you already make porn, it isn't that far of a jump for many! It is a decision you have to make for yourself -- no one can make it for you!

If you can book flights at least 14 days in advance, the flights are usually much cheaper anyway. Also try looking at www.aim-med.org and checking for a lab in Chicago that tests for them. This will save you the two day wait while your test results come in. I really hope things work out for you, whether you just do film work or whatever you decide.

Except, in porn you're working with another person who's being paid, has been tested, and is performing under the direction of someone else. In porn, the object is to get the best shots of the sex in order to get your audience off. In escorting, I'm assuming the object is to get your client off. In porn, there's a lot of stopping and starting and the director and actors tend to be considerate of each others limits because it leads to a hotter scene when it's all edited together. In escorting, again I'm assuming, there's no need to be considerate because the point is for the dude paying $2000 to get his rocks off and blow a load in the girl's ass.
It's a jump, and anyone who has convinced themselves that it isn't has likely done so to make it easier for themselves to justify.

^ What if that person has been AIM tested as well and you exchange results with him? Sometimes I wish I were a pretty woman instead of an ugly man -- I would get a lot of action and be paid for it at the same time. I don't have experience with the "half-legit" escort services, but I would think if they actually sell sex (their sites claim you are paying for companionship and if sex happens it is a bonus), the escort requires a test in the last 30 days for the sex, in writing and verifiable. I have also heard that condoms are also required by most escorts from these agencies. Under those circumstances, I think most attractive women would do it for $2K a night (including dinner and a room), not just porn stars!

Even if the "client" was tested, there's still a whole lot of reasons there that you're ignoring...

I am just speaking for myself, I in no way recommend escorting to you as a way to make money. My point probably is that everyone has their price and I was stating mine (if I were not an ugly man, of course). As I would think, if the man/woman is untested, unknown and ugly, the price goes up substantially. As things stand and me being male, if Kimi Lixx (or Charlotte Vale) offers me $1 to fuck her and comes to my house with said AIM test and a Viagra tablet, I would do it in a second. For Dana DeArmond my fee is $5,000. If the person is Lexington Steele or Evan Stone (remember, I am a man), the price just went up to $1 million! If said person is Barack Osama (he is President, but he was also a heroin user and may have HIV for all I know) or Marc Wallice (sans AIM test, he has HIV), he better bring $1 billion in $100 bills and I will check every one of them with a bill marker before I swallow that Viagra!!!!!

I do believe the number is significantly greater than 50% I am aware that there are a lot of under-the-radar girls who do not advertise openly, but reply on references and word-of-mouth. On Pamela Peaks' site of girls available her list of talent available includes a number of UTR girls. You have to be accepted by her to find out who they are. You can also see reviews on escort review sites.
