I know this b/c my cousin is the DP (cinematographer) and he is listed in IMDB and has a moderately impressive resume - he makes a living working in Hollywood and around the U.S.A. and in other countries but he's not a rich "made" man - just a regular working guy - but not a GWC (guy with camera). As I don't know how these things work in terms of getting off the ground or not, but as I know more about Porn than he does, I thought why not use this wonderful forum to bounce ideas around. He would not be filming in India. The idea would be to make a documentary on pornstars of the Indian Sub-Continent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Maldives) also known as South Asia - regardless of where they were born. They would be Desi. The focus would be on Bollywood Pornstars that are working in the U.S.A., U.K., and France. I do know that he has secured interviews with 2 stars who left the business in 2008 and who both live in the U.K. and were born in the U.K. - so, that's a start. Who should be interviewed? What broader social contexts should be considered? Can the answer to the looming question as to why many other ethnicities have many more pornstars but this Subcontinent with nearly a billion and half (1.5 billion) people with a massive Diaspora does not? Please take this in any direction...high-brow...low-brow...it doesn't matter. The idea is to provide a complete picture so all aspects, angles, etc. of porn are welcomed. Are there other porn documentaries that could provide some structure? I suggested "The Girl Next Door" type thing (well, I would - look at my username) but that idea was killed because such a notion focuses on one person. There is a scope limit...don't want to go back to the origins of Erotica from India before the advent of film (so no ancient drawings and stories in Sanskrit inside caves). I'm fairly certain this would focus on the past 20 years unless there was some exceptional reason/person to consider from the 80s. From what I have gathered (I have sat in on a meeting with his usual crew/team), there is also no interest in Bollywood mainstream films that show half a tit or whatever. This is about Porn, and more specifically Pornstars, of the Indian Sub-Continent (regardless of place of birth) working in the West. I think different societies exercise different amounts of control over their individuals through laws, peer pressure, and informal enforcement of social taboos.
The reason why women from the Indian subcontinent stay away from performing in porn is because porn women from there are likely to suffer legal punishment, social shunning and isolation in their communities, and even honor killings from their own relatives.
This is the kind of thing western women don't need to deal with. Which makes them more free to do as they please, including perform in porn movies. [Link] |

The first Indian pornstar interview what I have found on Internet was Anjali Kara and when I check with her on killer gram thread,she mentioned it was 101% fake.no girls in India will get into porn business,very few of them did and they are either born and brought up in different country .no Bollywood mainstream stars do porn.i found one girl neha nair living in city like Bangalore managed to do some low quality porn and selling through website mysexyneha.com which I guess is part of website mysexyindia.com with main star featured as Madhuri Patel.madhuri Patel also lives outside India.after doing some low quality porn I guess neha nair is out of business ,not sure what she is doing.jazmine from Bangladesh was active till four yrs back but she also stopped doing porn.so we have very very few actually who are into this from india.i agree if Indian girl will do porn living in India either she will be put into prison or real bad things can happen.finding Indian pornstars and making documentary on it is a great idea but first need to find Indian pornstars which itself is challenging :).[Link] |

1) Let me break down your post a little bit. I don't want to debate whether or not Anjali Kara's interview was real or fake but you will agree that she had reasons to deny its truth, yes?
2) Killergram could do a much better job of promoting U.K. born, pornstars of Indian background. London, Manchester, the entire nation really is full of Desi's but a glimpse at Killergram's girls shows that most of what they call "Asian" is what is called "Asian" in the United States. Other than Anjali Kara (you can search for yourself), all the other Asians that seem to come up are not of the Subcontinent. Killergram is weak enough when it comes to producing pornstars in general and other than Carmel Moore, Sophie Dee, and a few others their product has been unremarkable so if they can't even do fish & chips, it would be naive to expect them to do curry & chips. I loathe Killergram because they do not do justice to the beautiful women of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
3) The focus of the documentary would be on people like Priya Rai, Destiny Deville, Leah Jaye, and many others who either were not born in India, of if they were born in India (like Priya) worked outside India, and have no desire to return to India other than to visit a great aunty in Bombay (excuse me, Mumbai).
4) My understanding is that India is a Social Democracy. When I visited there as a tourist (and I enjoyed every moment of my month there), I got the sense that as compared to Pakistan (where I have also visited), you were living in a relatively free country or a country that purports to be relatively free. People asked me when I returned from my travels "why is it that Hindus are peaceful and Muslims are violent?" And I responded "um, both India and Pakistan have nuclear bombs." Then, we have those who are not Desi come on this site and make India sound like an Islamic State which it is not. To hear you say it as someone who is Indian only reinforces the idea that the social norms of the Indian sub-continent transcend religion and that it does not matter if you are Hindu, Muslim, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi - you will be treated the same if you engage in any kind of erotica - so I guess as far as the Indian sub-continent goes - people are treated the same everywhere when it comes to pornography and that is sad for a nation who elects its leaders to Parliament in free elections.
5) Has the BJP taken over?

1.)yes I agree with you ,the interview seems to be very real and it may affect the business of killer gram if it was real :).so in this porno world you have to believe whatever production studios say,they can show Latina girl with Indian name and you have to believe :).
2.) I agree, disanto does very good camerawork but they are shooting 18-20 mins clips and releasing everyday without any advertising and publicity.they don't have control also on file shares as most of the clips they release available very next day on file shares.they need some help from companies like removeyourcontent.com to get the file shares content removed proactively.ideally they should be doing one movie which is story based and release it with big bang publicity.dirty movie from Rachel Steele was one of the examples here with 2 hrs long movie,first Bollywood porn parody .file shares was controlled and monitored for first four months till the time movie meets the target of revenue :).

4.) have you seen pecados da India ? Movie from Julia paes? If I mute the sound change the name of Julia paes to Priya then Julia paes will look more Indian then Priya rai and others what you have mentioned :).there are different views and different people say different thing on if they are Indians or not ,you have to believe them :).for clips it may be important if girl is Indian or not but for story based movies it needs acting.actors are not limited by religion,race,language. Dirty movie from Rachel Steele was one example.so you may expect second Bollywood parody soon done by some pornstar who is more actress then pornstar.
5.)all political parties in India are same ,all of them have corrupt politicians and people who will have biggest porn collection in secret drawer. It in front of everyone they will say porn is bad :),they may be jacking off alone in the foo

Super informative post!!! Rachel Steele clearly does not look Indian. Julia Paes does. Desi's can generally spot other Desi's - and most Indians would not confuse someone from the Subcontinent with someone who was Latino. Having said that, the consumer mainly cares about the fantasy aspect and bottom line if it makes a profit, if it sells, parodies like you mentioned and Brazilians posing as Indians will have their place in the market. In one movie (and I'm blanking on the pornstar now) the woman speaks in Hindi – perfect Hindi – and then goes on to shoot in English with Americans or Brits...Caucasians. I enjoyed that if only for its novelty. I hope that we see more Desi women in porn - and my heart goes out to those beautiful women you mentioned in the slums. They deserve better. We hear so much about in the west...it's not so much human trafficking...but about sex tours (well, I guess that is a form of human trafficking) in places like Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Does it happen in India too? Or maybe not because prostitution in India is regulated - but not illegal? Or has the government cracked down on these kinds of sex tours? Any insight you can provide would be useful.

That is the most beautiful part dity movie script. Rachel steele didn't tried to play as indian women and cheat viewers, she played a role of american women in the dirty movie.she created situations in scripts where there is place for song and dancing around trees like bollywood movies, she created a situation where she has to wear the indian dressup ,speak a little bit of hindi as well.
