The ex I thought I had rid myself of last year has reappeared. She has always been a bit reserved sexually, full of Catholic girl guilt, etc. In the year we were apart, she has come to the realization she has been missing out on a lot and wants to expand her sexual horizons into the BDSM realm (thank you, Fifty Shades of Gray.) She's always had a bit of a submissive streak (as I said, Catholic girl) but now she wants the full-bore B and M part of BDSM. That works for me, because it should come as no surprise to this crowd I am firmly in the D and S side of the BDSM spectrum. It should also come as no surprise I am a fan of Kink.com product, which has given me some fun ideas to work with.
Of course one of the problems with home BDSM is it's a bit impractical to set aside a room or a portion of a house as a dungeon unless you are really serious about it. Some of the Kink restraint hardware isn't practical for the home. I mean, it's not like you can have shackles permanently bolted to the wall, or bolted to the floor, and be able to explain them away if you'd like to keep that part of your life on the QT. If you want to flog your submissive standing, how to keep your sub's legs apart the way you want them? In a bed with no bedposts, it's difficult to get restraints set up without prior planning. Sometimes the fun stuff is spontaneous.
Being a practical pervert, I used some inspiration from a Kink.com video to solve the potential problem of restraints that meet the dual goal of being sturdy and portable, so we can have some fun with restraints which can be used at my house or her house ,and quickly grabbed & hidden. I decided to make my own bondage rails. I got two lengths of 2x2" board, two at 5' long, two at 3' length. I painted them a nice, shiny matte black for an intimidation factor, and screwed three screw eyes into the 3' rails (2 set 4" in from the end, one in the center), and five in the 5' rails (two set 6 inches from the ends, two set 14 inches inboard, one dead center, to provide length options for spreading legs or arms.) Her preference for restraints is zip ties. Me, I prefer handcuffs or something with a chain because I like it when I do something to a sub that makes her stretch those chains and make them jingle. With the screw eyes, I can loop cuffs, a hook, or zip ties in them with no problem, plus I got sturdy enough screw eyes there's little likelihood of them breaking or pulling (practical because there's no bolt ends on the other side of the rail that can rip a bed or a carpet.)
I am happy to report the project was a success. For less than $35 I have some nice, sturdy, portable bondage rails that can work with a sub on a bed, or standing against a wall. I made sure to sand the boards down before painting so there's no chance of splinters if the rails are against her skin, and they are when using zip ties. They can be whipped out quickly, and stowed just as quickly for those who like to be naughty in public, or when a kid or guests show up unexpectedly.
