Yet, the porn studios tell us that that's what sells. And it does seem that that is what sells. So there is an apparent contradiction here. I see only two possibilities: a) Those who do like boob jobs don't express their opinion on the groups or do not frequent the groups. b) Those who say they don't like them are not really being honest with themselves and just like saying they hate them. But when it really comes to it they like it. So what is it? Any thoughts? This contradiction is really confusing.  [Link] |

DGF: I think that the people who hate fake boobs are a very vocal minority. I think it's a pretty natural male reaction to like big breasts. I mean, every guy's guilty of secretly checking out the size of every woman's chest he meets. Because of that, society has the assumption that bigger is better, and that influences women's self confidence and men's buying habits.
That finds its way into adult recreation, whether that's watching girls on the beach in bikinis, dancers at strip clubs, or porn stars in videos. The women with bigger breasts get more attention and usually make more money as a result.
As far as increased sales due to big tits, I'm convinced that most porn buyers are casual watchers, people who haven't seen very much porn. They are looking for one video to buy, and they go for the eye candy. Since most porno box covers have a pretty girl photo with the girl in her clothes, they do the unconscious check of the bustline and make their purchases accordingly.
Unfortunately, what looks good in a bikini or outfit can look downright awful when the woman's in her birthday suit, especially when the implants are obvious (poor shape, scars, stretching, etc.). I think anyone who has seen enough porn tends to prefer natural over artificial. But, again, I don't think most buyers know what they are getting in to.
That's an oversimplification, for sure, but I think that goes 75% toward explaining why there seems to be a contradiction.

as far as the discrepency - the new DVD market may have something to do with it. people who buy DVDs online are not the same as people who frequent strip clubs and buy VHS in stores. yes, there is obviously overlap, but still different markets. the product hasn't really changed to the tastes of the new DVD market.[Link] |

I guess I'm easy to please. I like big, small, real or fake as long as they look good. If a girl is butchered with big scars or massive stretch marks, then I'm not interested. Then I just find another part of her body or face that I like and focus on that. I'd rather see a pretty face than a perfect rack. For instance, Raylene got a bad boob job. You can see it when she bends over. However, her face, tummy and ass make up for it.

I was under the impression, from previous threads and chat transcripts, that the women of porn usually make more money from "personal appearances"--whether it's stripping or celebrity stuff or what-have-you--than from the movies themselves. Speak your mind, God knows we have enough political correctness. Would you consider piercings and tattoos as mutilation too? Would you consider all plastic surgery to be mutilation too? Such as a breast reconstruction after cancer or a man getting a hair transplant? Should that be extended to the fact that high heels are bad for a woman's back? Do you consider that mutilation as well?
I'm not being sarcastic asking those questions, I honestly want to know what you think.
Fake boobs are ok with me. So far as piercings, I only like them in the earlobes and sometimes on the navel but not anywhere else. And I hate tattoos. It's like a woman has beautiful skin and she has to ruin it with the ugly green color of a tattoo.

I don't know Steph. Most of what I have is VHS simply because the selection on DVD is much more limited. The crowd at RAME is very vocal against boob-jobs and I doubt they limit themselves to DVD.
As some people have mentioned it, I don't go to strip clubs either. Perhaps some pornstars decide to get boob-jobs for the strip crowd? But I still don't think it explains it all.
We must also consider that the pornstars may get them for personal reasons just like any woman and not just to advance their careers.
What I do find noteworthy is that even those of you, like sonic, who say you don't like boob-jobs will make an exception for a pornstar you think has great ones. And everyone makes a different exception depending on their tastes. I recall someone wrote that they hated boob-jobs but that he thought he loved Kaitlyn Ashley's. And I thought that even though I'm positive on boob-jobs, I don't think she got a good one. Still nice but I wouldn't call it a good boob-job.
I suspect this exception-making may be a factor in the discrepnacy. Maybe as I suggested in my first post that those who claim to hate boob-jobs are not being totally honest with themselves. Perhaps, sonic, it isn't so much that you don't like boob-jobs but that you like them to be done right?[Link] |

I wouldn't call you hypocritical for that. What bothers you is not the "mutilation" itself but the reason the person does it right? You don't like it when someone does it "look better".
You mention insecurity as a reason. I personally don't see it as being that different from a woman putting on make-up for example. It's true that plastic surgery is more permanent but both are done for the same reason, to look better and possibly as a result of insecurity.
But I wouldn't immediately conclude it's the result of insecurity or wanting to please society. I personally try to look good, I groom myself, cut my hair, shave, wash my clothes, etc. Is that also the result of insecurity or trying to please others or is just that I want to look good? It can be hard to draw the line between "insecurity" and just plain simple wanting to look good and decent.
I mean, if someone were born with a horribly disfigured face, would you see it as bad if that person had plastic surgery to look more "normal"? You already said you don't see reconstructive surgery as bad. But even reconstructive surgery is done for the same reasons general plastic surgery is done , to look better and possibly as a result of insecurity.
I guess all I'm saying is that I don't know if you can really draw the line between what is done for "insecurity" and that done for other reasons. Plastic surgery used to bother me as it bothers you but for some reason it doesn't bug me anymore, I guess I got used to the idea. But I have to agree that some people may perhaps do well to consider therapy. I've known many women obsessed with losing weight thinking they were fat and I thought they looked fine the way they were.
Yes, it's my understanding that high-heels are bad for women's backbones. Oh my and I forgot to mention tanning. How many women damage their skin with tanning just to "look better". Actually I'm not a fan of tanning but the majority of people seem obsessed with it even though it's bad for your skin.[Link] |

There's a big difference between trying to look good and trying to fit a certain look (in this case the blonde, big boob, tiny pug nose look - e.g. Jenna Jameson.) I think people should preserve their individuality.
make-up annoys me to. but as a 25 year old i can't say much (who knows what i'll be smearing my face with at 50.)
men and women should both appreciate natural beauty - which may be a broad nose, a gap between the teeth, a round face, brown hair, thin lips, small breasts, etc. i guess we just need to sever the connection between barbie and beauty. dying hair for fun is one thing, dying hair blonde because that's what's 'beautiful' is just silly.
the mutilation also bothers me because i have to watch it in so many adult movies. i literally shudder in mental anguish when i see boob scars. i start to pity the performer rather than enjoy the scene.
basically if you're saying (through surgery, hair dying, or literally saying) that the jenna jameson look equals beauty, then you're a part of the problem that's causing more and more women to acheive that look through unhealthy means (and convincing more and more men that that's what they should be attracted to.)
BTW I think Jenna Jameson was beautiful at one time. Now she just looks like a poster child for plastic surgery. When I watch TV I often find myself picking out the surgically altered faces - maybe it will get to the point where I can identify the surgeon by the facial features
As you can see this is something that really bothers me. All I can do though is speak my mind, refuse to buy womens magazines, and not wear any make-up (and not contribute my money to the make-up industry which propagates the problem.)
It's more than just surgery or just make-up - it's a whole cultural definition of beauty. And it displays a set of values very contradictory to my own.

I have an idea:
Digital Playground, Diabolic, all studios that make dvd should do this. The porn industry will make a survey..but asking these studios to enclose a card inside each of their discs. By the customer submitting the card they get free a demo disc..that way we know the votes are coming in..which will make a huge difference on what I am about to say. The card will have 5 questions..asking the consumer...whether we enjoy seeing fake boobies in our porn or not. Then..the porn industry will give us 3 months to receive all the votes. By the number of votes..the greater vote for liking the boobies..well then it won't make a difference..the votes with the dislike against boobies..the porn industry will cut down on fake boobed pornstars...and mandate a rule and regulation. To cut down in our viewing pleasure...and those pornstars who had fake boobies before regulation took place will not be counted out of the business..and can continue doing porn.

Wow, well by no means was I saying that the jenna jameson look = beauty. We all have our tastes in what we like right. I like Jenna Jameson but she's really not among my favorites. The Jenna Jameson look isn't my preferred look. I can find attractive many different kinds of women with different looks.

Can you really do that? Maybe it's a woman thing but when I see people on TV I'm not thinking which of them had plastic surgery on their faces.
Interesting you mention the "tiny pug nose". I have heard before that supposedly that is considered attractive. I don't know if I do myself, I really don't think about it much but I don't think I prefer tiny noses. Could you elaborate on that, 'cause I really wonder if and why tiny noses are considered attractive.
But in any case I don't worry too much about it. The way I see it it's not like anyone is forcing anything on anyone. I don't feel a standard of beauty is forced on me. I have my disagreements with the "cultural standard of beauty" and I don't feel like anything is forced on me. It's just my personal preferences and I don't determine them by what the media says. If some women have become overly obsessed with trying to fit an unrealistic standard, that's unfortunate but it is their choice.
One of my disagreements with what you might call "the cultural standard of beauty" might be excessive thinness which I don't find attractive. The media has not changed my opinion on it. And women are not forced to take part in it.
You could say I feel it's a personal choice. If a woman(or a man for that matter) wants to attain an unrealistic standard then that is up to them. If they suffer because of it, they only brought it upon themselves. You could call it a libertarian standpoint. I have certain things that I personally consider attractive(and many times it doesn't agree with the media), but it's not like I'm forcing anyone to do anything. You see since I have a libertarian standpoint on this I don't see it as the media forcing anyone to do anything. The media has influence but the way I see it, the bottom line is that people choose by themselves what they want to do. A tan is considered attractive and I have many times been called pale but I have never ever gone into the sun just to get a tan. That's my choice. Besides I'll have less wrinkles when I'm 60.

I wasn't directing anything at you or any one person. Yes, there are plenty of people who don't adhere to the cultural definition of beauty. But walk into a record store and you see 10 different Britany Spears looking out at you. What I'm saying is I'd like to see natural variety.
And yes, the emaciated look is probably the biggest, most dangerous problem of all.

that's cause you're not a woman. I try to ignore what's imposed upon me. But there is certainly a lot of pressure to be thin. And I regularly get comments about not wearing make-up (even get called a hippie sometimes.) It's not like it's a black cloud weighing above me. But I think if those of us who don't want to see barbie anymore speak up things can change (they will anyway.)

Personally, I quite like boob jobs. Big natural breasts are great, but augmented breasts are preferable to small breasts, in my opinion. I do find that anti-boob job people (as well as pro-bush people) are incredibly vocal about their position, even a bit self-righteous.
